Fremont Kabob Restaurant

We went to this location because we had a good experience with the one in Santa Clara. The gentleman who took our order was very polite, and we loved the ambiance, but we were in a hurry and wanted take out. He told us it will take 15-20 minutes for our food to get ready, but it took about 30 minutes. The salad was not fresh. The portions were very small; the Chopan kabob was just four pieces which were mainly fat and bone, and the roasted lamb did not even fill half of the container. Too overpriced for the quality and amount of food. The containers were very oily which made a mess in our car.

The food is too salty. Just give less salt. Apart from that, everything is fine like service and also the atmosphere.

Went for Friday dinner and it was pretty crowded, but no wait time. We couldn’t get the traditional seating coz the wait time was 45 min for that. We were served with a plate of pita bread as soon as we were seated.

We were a large group and ordered quite a few dishes. For appetizer we ordered Mast-e-Khiar and Borani Badinjon and both were good.

From the kabobs we ordered Chapli kabob and Shami chicken kabob, and Korma lamb, Korma chicken and Roasted lamb from entree. The food was yummy and my favourite was the roasted lamb and chapli kabob. The korma curry tasted more of the marinara sauce taste. For dessert we ordered Firni, Jala and Afghan ice cream. Jala was a new experience and it is like the falooda.

The 3-star is not because of the food but couple of issues we had there. First of all we had to wait a lot of time for them to take the order. Secondly they brought an extra dish that we hadn’t ordered, but since we didn’t want to make an issue we got it to-go. We asked them to pack it up but they just gave us the to-go box. We hadn’t even touched the dish. Anyways the main issue was the rip-off. They added a gratuity to the bill and in addition wanted us to tip. For the tip the amount that was written as suggested amount was a percent of the total (bill + gratuity, etc), so overall it was a lot!

This seems to be a reincarnation of an old restaurant that used to be popular in Fremont called ‘Salang Pass’. I believe the owner of this restaurant is related to the previous owners of salami pass or maybe he worked there… so the food ambiance and vibe is very similar… we really like the chicken kebab and the brown rice.

Have been going to this place for about 8 years. But recently I’m getting for the amount of food they provided for the price.

For $16.50 they give you this much Bolany now.
Same price but half of the size it used to be.

First time eating here and let me say they did not disappoint. Food was amazing as well as the service. Highly recommended!

Ordered for delivery and the Bolani Potato order came in a pizza box. It was really delicious. Husband enjoyed his order of Korma Chicken. My son had seconds of the lamb shank rice, lamb was off the bone soft.

Terrible food, terrible service, and a filthy atmosphere. If you want real afghan food look at a YouTube tutorial, you’ll have a better chance of staying healthy within the next 24hr. This is coming from a real afghan.

The food was fine but the customer service was terrible and rude i hated it dont waste your money at this restruant everything was terrible and the waiters are very rude and mean.

I tried the chicken and choopan kebabs. Chicken was pretty decent but Choopan kabab didn’t look or taste like lamb chop at all. Maybe a different part of lamb was used which should have been mentioned on the menu.
