Friendly Hills Hike, Joshua Tree CA

We agree with the reviewer who said it was more of a walk than a hike. Specifically, it climbed very gradually up and then went very gradually down and it is pretty flat. Often you have to walk thru a dry flood creek - as a fun activity you can support your partner going up one side of the creek while you are going up the opposite side.

There is a problem with the map at the trail head. It looks like the walking path loop does not connect back with the main trail. Rest assure it does and the trailhead map is just slightly inaccurate.

There are two signs pointing towards each other saying "visitor parking" it is not at all obvious that you can park off the road there, but thats what the signs indicate. There is also on street parking just a few hundred feet away at the first right when leaving.

Beautiful yet decievingly tough and steep. Thankyou to the firefighters for every old growth still standing. Good job.
UPDATE: It is no longer safe to use access from Prescott and Outpost, which I have used for the past 30 years The resident on the corner says that he owns all of it. He is very rude and his signs border on entrapment.
The interesting part of it is that he claims to own a parcel that isn't a parcel. MDLT, could you please do what you all do best and straighten out this issue for my confused NEIGHBOR? Or atleast go check out his signage and laugh amongst yourselves? Thankyou.

I'm 65 yrs old, overweight, and found it to be a moderate walking trail due to slight incline. Lovely views, flora, rock piles, and birds this spring.
