Full Moon Mandarin Cuisine reviews
16If you enter this restaurant hungry, you will walk out hungry. They do not give you a reasonable amount of food for the price they charge. The beef dishes are not too good, it sort of has a weird smell. The wonton soup is really good. They changed the hours, if you want lunch Friday and Saturday only.
Ordered chicken broccoli to go. I really need to remember to ask about whether a dish includes rice because this one didn't and it would have tasted so much better if it had been paired with rice. That being said, the meal was delicious. The meat was stir-fried in a rich, savory garlic sauce and the broccoli and chestnuts were crisp and fresh.
If you like Panda Express or the usual Chinese buffet, you will love this place. However, I was beyond disappointment after some Chinese friends told me that this place was authentic. Maybe they have different recipes to serve the takeout crowd than they would serve you if you showed up in person and spoke Chinese? Just like most American-Chinese food, every flavor was dialed down except for sweet. Dishes that shouldn't have a speck of sugar in them tasted sweet. We tried the Yuxiang Rosi, Hot and Sour Soup, Hongyou Chaoshou, and Shuizhu Yu. The Shuizhu Yu was the closest to what we expected. The fish was fried, the soup was too thick, and there was obviously sugar added, but it wasn't bad. It was hard to determine whether the Yuxiang Rosi (almost all onions) or the Hot and Sour Soup (my 0% Asian mom makes better) was worse. If you know what Chinese food is supposed to taste like and you are desperate enough to pay the prices at this place, just drive to San Jose.
The best Chinese cuisine in Monterey Bay.
Flavorful, fresh. I have coming for dinner every week since I discovered.
So so good. That’s a bummer. I should have been there earlier. It was my last day in Monterey. I definitely recommend this restaurant. I tried fried rice and kung pao beef. They were delicious. If you’re asian and miss your hometown food, try it. It’s so good. As a korean, I was 100% satisfied with their food.
They are in a good location. Fish soup and beef are great! The oil for Spring Roll and Prawn deep fried seemed over used and we feared to eat the out layers actually:) lol. How come the Lamb and Prawn got no taste at all (could be the meat stored too long, not fresh enough) ?
I can't describe how much I love the food here. Many Sichuan style restaurants can't find the balance of oil and spiciness. However, Full moon finds the right balance for me. On top of that, the barbeque pork fried rice here is the best in the world (at least the world I have been living for 34 years). The aroma, the right balance for sweetness for bbq port and saltiness of seasoning, and huge portion! Other recommended dishes are triple beef, cumin lamb, any spicy dish like fried chicken. Spicy fish and tofu is also a great option to balance the heavy meat out. It is the place you shouldn't overlook.
Full Moon has become our favorite Chinese restaurant in Monterey. It may take an adjustment to get used to the paper plates and plastic utensils, but the food is fresh and excellent.
Came here a day or so ago, and was very happy with the lunch. Great Soup! My allergies have been killer lately and the soup hit the spot.
Would have been nice to know that rice doesn’t come with the order of sesame chicken. 0 napkins or utensils given with DoorDash order, we are at a hotel so thanks for nothing
Good is super good! Vegetables taste fresh and crunchy, food taste like it was just made not sitting there for a while, staff is very friendly and welcoming
Authentic, Chinese food with a home cooked taste. Ordered the chicken fried rice and tofu soup. The ingredients were fresh and portions were generous. I liked that the food wasn’t too salty.
Excellent Chinese food with good size portions for the price.usually a fried rice and an entree lasts for 2 meals for me.
This place was amazing! Enjoyed their dan dan mien, garlic green beans, kung pao chicken, cold jelly, and more. Awesome find in Monterey
Visiting a family and some people recommended this place. Walked in and tried to order take out. There was an old man working in the front that had a bad attitude. I cancelled my order. I'm only giving 2 star because the younger man after him was nice.
