Game Rave-Toy Rave reviews
19Try to come in the store could not come in the store employee was casually having a 30 minute conversation at the front of the door didn’t even acknowledge us for one second not sure what kind of business this is but you can have conversations elsewhere just not at the front entrance especially when we have to keep social distancing
This place is absolute trash. The store from the outside is disorganized and looks terrible. The staff is absolutely rude. The guy that worked there saw me waiting outside. Their website says open at 11 the sign outside say 1130. The guy said he can't open til his boss shows up. So I waited outside for 30 minutes then he told me they can't let anyone in or open due to covid. I get it i understand the covid thing but why have me wait outside for 30 plus minutes just to tell me to go away? Why not have signs out front saying they are closed or update the website? I now understand why this place has the worst reviews of any gamestore in San Diego. Absolutely terrible in every way. Don't spend your time or money here.
Every time I’ve ever made the mistake of calling here, whoever answers the phone has been exceedingly rude. I’m astonished this place remains in business considering the appalling customer service. It’s a shame the people that frequent this hovel can’t afford their own gaming setups and requisite high speed connection because otherwise you can’t explain to me why you’re going here. And if you are proud of your patronage, please explain; I’m legitimately curious why you would endure these people.
In Fireboy and Watergirl game. Whoever played that game in the picture sucks. Watergirls supposed to go to the water door and fireboys supposed to go to the fire door.
Called in on the phone to ask if they sold computer parts the guy on the phone called me a troll and hung up. I decided to go inside to see for my self while there weren't any the store was filthy and had a awkward smell not to mention the employee at the counter had no sense of self hygiene.
One of a kind place. Very knowledgeable and super helpful staff. It's great to see a shop like this stay formidable with all the variety of old games and consoles they offer.
Incredibly impressed with my experience here at game rave! The owner was very friendly and welcoming! I was provided in depth information about the services and products offered here and I am completely sold on supporting this small business. The selection is absolutely incredible. Disregard all of the bad reviews. Go in for yourself; you will not be disappointed with the knowledge, products, and customer service provided.
Love this place owner friendly and all ways buys my vintage games and systems I would definitely recommend this place for you all out there that still play the old school classics
I'm new to San Diego and my husband and I have been on a huge 90s throwback kick lately and have been searching for vintage gamecube and ps1 games and accessories. The first time we came in we were extremely shocked at how much was in the store, we assumed from the outside that it was only newer consoles but were excited that they have things for practically any and every console. Both times we've been greeted and helped by the owner, I've yet to catch his name, but he was extremely friendly and gave us a lot of advice for our systems and buying things for them. At first I was off put by the prices because Luigi's mansion was $60, but after he showed me the disk and the case I was in shock by how brand new the game actually looked. He also had a bunch of games I completely forgot existed and they were only $20 for something in great condition. I know alot of people have complained on here about the price but I'd gladly buy from this store and pay a little extra and know that the merchandise works tremendously and is in great condition than to go online and pay $5 for a faulty game or equipment on Amazon (which happened to me a few days ago that ended up with me going back here to get memory cards ️). I will gladly come back here everytime for new and old games
I really like this game and this volume stepped up from its initial one. Space is Key Hell game on hudgames very interesting
This place pretty much stacks up to what people are saying. The gentleman seems nice likes to chat but about what he does differently than everyone else that makes his games so high priced. Has a huge collection but the place is a total mess with cards and games everywhere all over the floor. I noticed only some of his games have price stickers and others don’t. Sort of made me feel like he made the price up as he went. Very over priced! Calico games is where I’ll be keeping my business.
Tarrable service everything is super marked up.the man working didnt know anything about any of the products. I will travel out of my way to go to a better store.
First was familiar with this store when I found the booth at San Diego Comic Con. I was impressed but the amount of games this store has, but when looked at closely, it’s just a lot of trash. All the games worth getting are way overpriced and honestly so are the bad ones. NES cartridges only get as cheap as TWENTY DOLLARS. That’s way too much for a game like NES Soccer, let alone $40 for Mario 3. Not only is everything overpriced, the owner and employees are most definitely not educated fans and only seem to care about making money. The customer service is weak and the owner is rude. If interested in retro video games, i’d much more recommend Luna Video Games or Calico Games
I love this place I've known John for along time since 2006 or 2007 he's always been so nice and always willing to help and answer questions. I sell him my game systems.
Shopping for old school video games was the reason why I stepped in to this establishment, the two employees that were visible did not even offered any service, in fact when I asked to check out an item behind the counter the guy says " why do you need to see it? " Idiots- this is the reason why people rather shop online. NEVER buy from this place, go to Walmart instead.
Nice little spot for tcg and tabletop players alike. Store owner is a good man, makes sure that customer needs are met. Overall a nice non eletist store. Everyone in store are family or military oriented and help out new and veteran players.
Purchased 2 players guides and a GameCube Game. Very friendly. Remembered me from a few months ago when came by. Lots of video games and collectable card games.
I've tried coming here a couple times. The selection of card singles is amazing, pokemon magic yugioh they have it all. They also have tons of retro games and consoles. Cant say too much about the prices because the place smelled so bad I could not make myself stay to look at their card singles, much less ask about prices. On top of that the employee was barefoot wearing a dirty shirt with holes in it. This place seems to have the product, but lacks the business model.
Friendly, charismatic employees and a wide selection of games, trading cards, and other miscellaneous games.
