I've been to a huge number of game stores in my life, I used to work for a distributor so it was a part of my life getting to know shops and how they treat their customers.

Never before have I seen such hostility from a specialty store. I played here on FNM many times and every time I felt rejected by the staff.

I never came back for FNM and I felt unsafe.

Best Place to Be I've been to this Place many Years and Staff and The owner Are the nicest people You'll ever meet. For all MTG Fans It's A Fun Place to be Always Have Commander players here and They Have FNM If You have any Questions For events or Certain Cards It's best to ask. If you want to play Casual Or competitive Magic it's a Fun Place to be. ʕ º ᴥ ºʔ

The modern magic tournaments have a good and consistent turnout and the playerbase is good.

The first time I came into the store I was helped immediately to purchase some index cards for mtg. The second time I came in to purchase some cards for a graduation I was not helped at all. The person behind the counter was too busy on their computer. When I asked to see some cards from in the glass cabinet, the employee gave me the impression he didn't want to be there. After I purchased the cards he just handed them to me. No penny sleeves, no eye contact and quickly asked me if I wanted a receipt; that was only offered digitally. I'm done with this place.

This shop is nice to have if your trying to buy binders, sleeves & cards.

They sell cards at TCG Player market price which is fine which they should.

Only downside is if you have a valuable card that your thinking your going to get full TCG Player price for store credit towards a card they have in display, just turn your back, walk out that door because they will knock about 8% off your card so they make the money at the end. Your better off making accounts online on TCG Player, Facebook, OfferUp, or eBay to get paid what the true value is.

Definitely would be back to purchase cards or product but just not to sell my inventory.

Good place for card games but not really warhammer40k. Yes they do sell models but its not a shop id play at. Also when i first walked in all i got was funk and had to leave before i could really get a good view of the store. From what i could see, its a cute shop for card games and tabletop games.

Gameology in Upland, California is a solid game store located in an underserved area of Southern California. While the store offers a good space for gamers, it is not without its faults. The store is kind of messy and disorganized, with a somewhat unspectacular selection of games and a passable secondhand section. The space arrangement seems to be a work in progress, and the use of space for gaming versus retail seems to be at odds.

One of the strengths of the store is its commitment to events, which is great for the gaming community. However, the staff at Gameology could use some management help, as they are more akin to the old-school of FLGS manners and mannerisms than what we expect now from modern game stores like Odyssey Games or Geeky Teas and Games. This can lead to a less-than-ideal customer experience, as the staff may not be able to provide the level of service and expertise that customers expect.

Overall, Gameology in Upland is an acceptable option in an underserved area of Southern California, but it could benefit from some improvements. With better organization, a more diverse selection of games, and a more knowledgeable and customer-focused staff, the store could be a great destination for gamers in the area.

I recently visited the store for the first time with high expectations, but was disappointed with my experience. While I understand it was busy game night, I felt that the pricing for the cards was higher than the market value and the employee named “Sean” was inflexible with negotiations at all. Wouldn’t even negotiate 1 penny less even if I wanted to buy multiple cards that are already Above Market price. Additionally, I had to wait 10 minutes before being assisted and despite my intention to make a significant purchase, I was unable to reach any agreement with the owner. For a store that only does store-credit they really are inflexible despite your best effort to pay in cash. For those who know me in the pokemon community I suggest you stay away there’s not much for you here.

Update 02/02/2023
Edit in response: Relying solely on market price ignores the value that a customer places on individual purchase, and the potential for building long-term customer relationships through fair and flexible pricing. This is actually the first and ONLY store that is completely non-negotiable on pricing and I have gone to several TCG shops across SoCal. Negotiating on pricing demonstrates a willingness to work with customers and meet their needs, leading to customer satisfaction and loyalty. Additionally, not all customers are buying in bulk, and offering discounts for smaller purchases can still be a profitable business strategy.
