Garden State Bagels, Carlsbad CA

So far, have been to this place twice, had absolutely wonderful service the first time. The bagels are super fresh and the cream cheese is phenomenal. Docking one point because my second visit the girl interrupted me while I was ordering and missed the fact that I ordered Bacon on my bagel, but the guy ringing me up did not, so was a bit disappointing service. Still the best bagel place in North County.

Bagels are large and super fresh. There are lots of drinks to choose from, a bit pricey but a welcome treat as I was thirsty and hungry and I was in the mood to try something different than the usual fast food fare or 7 Eleven snacks.

This independent bagel shop is what those that are looking for responsible consumption should be looking for; locally owned and environmentally friendly, they employ locals and make the food on site.
I had a breakfast bagel with egg, bacon, and cheese. It was well buttered and perfectly toasted. I availed myself some of the coffee which was from a carafe but still tasted fresh and was certainly hot.
The coffee bar is well equipped and it is serve yourself. I like that because there is less chance of miscommunication and I know how I like my coffee.
I would recommend this spot for a quick breakfast on the way to work, or if you are passing through. It’s less than a minute from highway 5, in the shopping center that had the 7-11 gas station.
It is a sure winner in the breakfast food arena.

Food was alright. Sat outside and ate then came back in to use the restroom and was told in a nasty way NO they were closed. Pretty rude way to treat a patron. Won’t be returning. Too many friendly vendors as options.

That employee is lying to you. The door was wide open with nobody next to it. Nobody was waiting to lock it. In fact it looked like they purposely left it open to let the cool air in. We stood up when they said they wanted to bring the chairs in. Yes, we sat for an hour and stood outside another 10 minutes or so after requested to get up. When we were leaving I saw the door was still wide open and the two ladies were standing behind the register. The restroom was right next to the front door so I asked if I could use it quickly. The one that responded was extremely rude and I could tell the other gal was rather embarrassed over her behavior as she gave me a look like "sorry". If asking to use a restroom when the door is still wide open is considered entitled then I'll gladly own it. Isn't letting someone use the restroom just common human decency? Maybe you should be speaking with your employee about her entitled attitude rather than accuse me. A simple apology on behalf of your employee would have been more appropriate than defending her actions with lies and telling me I'm rude.

We visited this bagel shop since this is near the place we stayed in. We liked it, all the bagels are freshly baked and we like their cream cheese. Im so glad we visited.

This is hands-down the best bagel I have had in many years. Spinach and swiss melted and baked over the top of a really great bagel. That alone is a taste treat. Pair that with egg, sausage and muenster toasted together into a sandwich and you've got me in tears it was so good.

I walked in and asked if I could order and then work on my laptop at their table.
Nope. I don't know why their table was piled with chairs, but I wasn't allowed.

I asked if I could use their bathroom before I order.
Nope again.

I don't know what issues they have had. It's Carlsbad. But skip this place. Horrible customer service. There are places to eat all around it. Don't reward them with your business.
You're selling mediocre bagels. At least treat customers right.

The two gents that were there working on Father's day morning 6-18-23 were amazing and productive. My son and I had our bagels there and watched a rush for about an hour. Their service and promptness and interaction with the customers was pleasant! !

Note to delivery apps. Restaurant employees don't work for you therfore you need to respect them! If you have an issue take it upon the delivery app.

New owner same bagels, thank goodness. The bagels are the BEST. Now that Michael is running the place everything tastes even better since everyone working is happy and not stressed.

Fine deli experience with egg sandwiches and a few different roasts of coffee. Eggs are pre-cooked for the sandwiches but bagels are good. Solid option.

Great place for bagels. We had the one with bacon cheese and egg and it was delicious. The guys working there were also very nice.

I think there are two of these places, one in Encinitias and this one in Carlsbad. This is what I would call a trad bagel place. There ain't nothing fancy or new fangled about Garden State Bagels, but they get the job done. I got their breakfast sandwich, which includes egg, choice of meat and choice of cheese. None of the ingredients were particularly good and the lady managed to burn the bagel, which is saying something at a bagel place, but, I'm not a hater. The coffee here was pretty good actually. Great location off the 5 freeway off Carlsbad Airport road.

We brought Garden State Bagels to eat on the way to Disneyland so I can only comment on the quality of the food. It was prepared as requested and, as always with Garden State Bagels, was delicious!
WARNING: When enjoying Garden State Bagels, avoid telling a 4-1/2 yr old child that the schmeer on their bagel looks delicious. Eating may pause while they contemplate Schmeer. It will resume. Taste conquers all.
