Tim was quick to get back to me. He listened to my concerns about a guitar I've been upgrading, and his experience helped me out when I had reached the limit of what I can do on my own. Tim filed and installed a bone nut suitable for the slightly heavier gauge strings I use, and he gave the guitar a full setup which fixed the high action of my strings, issues with bridge stability, intonation problems, and tuning stability. He answered a few questions I had after he'd completed the services, which helped me feel even more solid about what I was walking away with. And I have to say, it's a lot more fun to play a guitar that's this ready to go. Good price for great service. I will definitely reach out to Tim again.

Absolutely thrilled with the service I received at Gates Guitar! I’ve had this Fender Strat for around 20 years. I asked Tim to put in a new set of pickups in with a new pick guard. He also did a complete setup, all for a vey reasonable price. It feels and sounds better then ever. Will be going back for sure.

I brought in an expensive classical guitar with fret issues; Tim determined the problem was that the manufacturer used inferior materials and poor construction methods. I sent his survey results to the dealer and was issued a complete refund. His reputation and knowledge are industry respected!

Brought two vintage acoustic guitars in for repair, one literally in pieces. After initial consultation I left them with Tim and allowed him to work his magic. I am so happy with the results. Brought in a used Fender Stratocaster I had purchased that Guitar Center had setup but it wasn't playing right - lots of fret buzz and a hard time bending the strings over certain frets. For a very reasonable price Tim did a complete setup on it including filing some uneven frets. The guitar now plays world's better than it did before, with a much lower action, and decreased fret buzz. The turnaround was very quick too. 10/10 would recommend for guitar repair in Boise!

Great service and price. I had a Taylor guitar with a string buzz issue he fixed fairly quickly. Another luthier in town not only didn’t fix it, but made it worse. I have several vintage and custom guitars, and am very picky who touches them. I highly recommend Gates Guitar Repair.

Made a phone call and asked for pricing on a locking tremolo adjustment, asked some questions and got very thorough helpful advice over the phone! Will definitely come here with any issues I have with my guitars.
