Gaucho Grill, Downey CA

Honestly if you can find a better place you should because the food here is mediocore. Fine dining at its worst. Sure the atmosphere is great and its always full but thats the problem its too full to actually keep up with demand. Id steer clear of this place but if you do go i recommend never ordering something expensove its not worth the money. On a good note their side salads are pretty awesome.

Beest empanadas ever!
I had been wanting to come here for some time until I finally got the chance since my gf lives in Downey. I was coming here specifically for the empanadas. They are DELICIOUS! We ordered 3 each which we found to be more than we can eat so nowadays we get 2 each and we are good to go.
The price is a little above $5 i believe but we always go in happy hour where they are about $2.50.4 empanadas and some waters comes to about a little over $15.
The staff is always good. Nothing over the moon but nothing to complain about either so.good
The location is perfect. It is inside a big plaza so there will always be parking around the corner or a small walk away.
Would i return? Most definitely and very soon. I already have like 5 times.make sure to check them out and tag/follow us on our travel adventures via insta/tiktok @thehungrynomadz

Reasong I'm giving 3 stars is because everything was good the food delicious the girls who took our order they were nice and explain the menus for our group BUT, the reason you don't get 5 stars is because meanwhile we were eating there was this guy sweeping and blowing the floor and carpets so I didn't really enjoy eating my food with dust that is a really bad idea, you do that when you close the restaurant or either before opening but NEVER while your customers are eating.

We all ordered 3 steaks.all was quite unflavored. I feel as though I could have gone to a Texas roadhouse and had a better dinner and spent less.

If i could rate this restaurant a zero that will be the best, really bad service wasn’t checking our table if we were good, we order medium rare meet and it ending up being well done. It was a pretty slow day when we went and it took them about 40 min for us to be able to get our food, worse customer service ever. Some tables that got next to us got there 30 min afterward we ordered and got there food first instead of us.

We have excellent time the food was delicious and the service was great I recommend this Restaurant if you like meat

The food was great.i ordered steak and it really melts in your mouth.service was more than great. Pastries are delicious as well. Will be back afain soon.

Would be a five star but I honestly think they're kind of pricey. Like I feel I could definitely get the same cuts of meat in the same style for cheaper at other restaurants. But I will say everything was good and the service was good but nothing really stood out as a big "WOW! ". Would I come back, probably not. It was fine coming atleast once though. Do try the empanadas.

First time. Went for date night. Everything we tried was so delicious! Just don't get seated in front of the giant TV lol

Place has grown since the last time I was there (for the better) took some customers from Japan and my boss. They were all impressed not only of the food but by our waitress and her honesty on the menu. By no means is this place bad but not everything on the menu is great she recommended dishes to them that they were impressed. Boss said Carmel, CA is not allowed to bring chains to the neighborhood but this place i never heard of so I am going to recommended that we consider bringing this Argentine Restaurant to our area (gots pull) awesome job and great personnel.will bring customers back here again

Went last year this time and it was amazing. Went this past Friday and had a reservation for 2 for date night. Hostess was not welcoming. We were sat in the corner in a high traffic area by a gate. The lobster was not available, which is why we went. The picanha was dripping blood all over our table even though I ordered it medium. The server took it back and returned it still bloody. We cleaned the blood from our table. Alcoholic drink did not have much alcohol. The grilled veggies we're not cooked well. I won't return. Very disappointed.

I had not been to Gaucho Grill since it opened. But yesterday I went in for lunch. I wasn't very hungry, as I'd had a big breakfast, but had a meeting there. The food was excellent, and the service was "spot on". The guy I was meeting with ordered for both of us, as I just didn't know what was the best. We started with bread with two different kinds of olive oil dips, then an exquisite shrimp "starter". We finished with a large salad with steak strips in it. Somehow they managed to keep the steak hot even on the salad and it was wonderful. We skipped desert, but all of it looked tempting. There was no hurry, as the staff simply took care of us while not being overbearing. This is one of Downey's best!

Awful experience
Not our first time to Gaucho but this time we had a party of four and our fourth that ordered his food 30mins after cuz he arrived late actually got his New York strip and finished it before we got our appetizer (four empanadas) and our food. We had Melanesa de res and a ribeye steak. On menu it explains to expect a wait of 30mins for ribeye which is understandable. Ours took 90mins. Waiter could only say he would find out what happened. He was not checking in on us either he was attending several tables and even though we did start asking about our food 50mins into the waiting time I felt like we just got lost in the orders. A table of 8 another of 5 next to us all received their meals before we did which was crazy to me. I would remind the waiter of how long we were waiting but was told the ribeye takes time which I would of understand but the party of 8 that ordered after us received their two platters of steak 30mins before we could. I still tipped just would of felt right with myself if I wouldn’t of but this time it was an awful experience and I do not have any intention of returning to this location. Buena Park location were much better experiences.

It's was delicious! The shrimp empanadas were the bomb. Great service, will definitely be back next time I'm in California

The food was so so but the drinks fire the atmosphere popping, service was great. Spot in Buena park area has better food.

My family and I had a wonderful time. Not only is the food delicious but the atmosphere is great as well. Our server Mateo was super attentive and answered all of our questions about the menu.
