Gen Korean BBQ House, Tustin CA

Very Great to go with a group or enjoying the night as a couple! I Find the selection of food very appealing to all audiences of taste. Would truly recommend the glass noodles!
Fun place to catch up with friends and family

First thing I noticed upon entering is a sign that says no outside food or drinks and then a rude sign about vegetarians and lap band patients. I was carrying in a cupcake because it was our childs birthday, and this is where she chose to celebrate. We were a party of 3 and were seated immediately, it might have been the weather but it wasnt overly busy. When we arrived at the table I noticed the hostess trying to take the cupcake from our child and I said what are you doing? She said no food allowed I will put it up front for you. I said you will not touch or take her food we will go put it in the car instead, which we did. I asked our waiter if they did anything for birthdays and he said no and I said we weren't allowed to keep a cupcake because the mean girl up front wouldnt let us. He was apalled and told us to go get it and bring it back in and he would make it alright but we didnt. I did read the sign about outside food but to me that means dont come in with taco bell or mcdonalds for your kids to eat plus they dont sell cupcakes so what is the harm? The food was just okay. I liked the hawaiian steak but nothing else and the pictures I see posted look like stock photos taken from online not actual pics from the table. Our server was good but we had to wait long times for beverage refills which is a pet peeve of mine.

As we were leaving a couple came in with a tiny baby in a stroller. The mean lady up front said they could carry in their baby but they couldn't bring in the stroller, what the hell? Place was almost deserted when we left, put them somewhere out of the way, plenty of open spots. The mean girl is not who they need up front she gives an awful first impression. Beware, the fake wood floors are extremely slick and there were many water leaks to the point buckets were sitting around the floor. They said condensation but damn, thats some epic condensation!

Wish I can give this place a negative star. I have been to most of the Gen restaurants in Northern California where I live. When I visit so cal, I always have dinner here; however, the dinner at this Gen was so disappointed yesterday. 1st, most of the servers and the hostesses were not wearing masks. Then the food was all so salted even the salad dressing was salty. They gotten rid of the calamari steak and replace it with garlic calamari. The garlic sauce they used to marinate it was loaded with sodium. We normally spent about ~ a little over an hour for dinner every time. Last night we left within 40 minutes and ended up getting a second dinner else where since we could not eat the salty food there. Unless they change the way how they prepare and marinate the food, I don’t think I will come back. Too bad since Gen used to be one of the places we go when we have a craving for Korean BBQ.

Thanking Andy again one more time! I wish I could give everyone a shoutout but I don't know all of their names. The bottom line is the majority of the team deserves a 5 star review and Andy took such good care of us it prompted me to write 3 reviews. Love you guys

The main thing about this location I've noticed is the lack of customer service skills. Compared to other gen locations and kbbq restaurants the staff here are often rude, unaccomodating, and aloof. We have been turned away 50 minutes before their closing hours, while other times been seated with 30 minutes left until closing. Servers are understandably busy, but rarely make an effort to come to your table unless you get their attention. Portions are much smaller and take longer to arrive correctly than other gen locations. I always enjoy the food they have, but avoid this specific location due to the other problems apparent at this location.

Food was ok. All the meat was a little fatty. The service was ok, had to ask for more water, grill change, sides, etc. Overall pretty good but definitely don't go if you don't have at least an hour to spend here. Price is also ok at $26 a person for all you can eat.

Honestly the worst place I've ever been. I waited over 2 hours to be seated with a promise time of an hour and a half to two hours and when I checked to see if my table was ready they told me it would be another 20 minutes to be seated. So Hungry I left to find another place to go. Any other Korean barbecue place would have you seated in a maximum of 30 minutes. Please don't go here and wait over 2 hours to eat.

Food was excellent. It was a good experience. Never done befor. Employees are really perfessional. Good vibe there. Would diffent go there again.

The food is decent quality, staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant is clean. My only issue with the experience is that they seat parties right on top of each other. We were seated at the same table as another group, less than 2 feet of distance. I was pretty uncomfortable as we were all unmasked while eating and I could tell the other group was surprised to have us seated at their table and they were also put off by the severe lack of social distancing. Assuming no one contracted Covid at dinner, everything else was fine.

Food (galbitang) had bad odor. Service was pretty bad. No spoons or chopsticks were served. Some ten dishes ordered, all came out separately.

This has been the best Korean BBQ I have tried so far. Everything is absolutely delicious, the service is great. I will be coming back soon definitely. I will recommend reservations if you can because it is very popular.

Nice food, excellent service. A little bothered by the smoke inside, but definitely will comeback.

We go to the Fullerton location quite a bit and always leave with some sort of complaint. This location has never failed to impress us with how far away they are from receiving even half the complaint the other location would get. Does that make sense?

Anyway I'm mostly writing this review to give a special shoutout to ANDY for providing exceptional care, and Jaylux (cool as hell flashy name tag) for taking great care of us the rest of our time there.

They lie about how long the wait is. It was just me and one other person and we waited over 2 hours to not even be seated! And when we checked on our table status they said another 30 minutes! How! That is outrageous! It was obvious they were pushing our reservation back. So lame! We were told 2 hours maximum and then they said 180 minutes. Don’t go here and wait a lifetime to eat some food.
