Came in during dinnertime so it was understandably packed but even after 40+ minutes of waiting, we were still waiting for food to come out (some family members had not received their food at all). The food that did come out was very good though so if you come during a less busy time, you'll definitely enjoy the food you'll get.

Great Sushi! I’m from San Francisco and recently moved away, but had a long layover at SFO - this was the perfect place for a quality meal before a long flight. It’s not super big, I recommend making a reservation (it was full on a Wednesday night by 7pm). They have great fresh specials for the day, things that I’ve never even heard of before. They have the three sections of Bluefin (lean, mid fat, fatty belly) along with the standard selection of rolls you see on SF menus.

Service was good, everything came out pretty quick. Sushi chefs were super nice and accommodating.

You will not find better Japanese! I took two guests who agreed it is the best Japanese restaurant they’ve found. Impeccable preparation, presentation and stellar service.

Good quality sushi and friendly staff. Omakase reasonably priced. Street parking only from what I could tell.

Gintei is quite decent quality with reasonable price. ($80) Sushi deluxe is served 10 pieces of sushi and balance is good.

Good quality fish and ingredients served in a nice setting and good service during lunch break.

Decent sushi rolls, but not worth the price. Many equal, but significantly cheaper options in San Bruno.

The food was excellent, but the timing of service was unacceptable, ESPECIALLY at this price point.

It wasn't the waitress, it's the kitchen. It wasn't the sushi chefs, IT'S THE KITCHEN. The entrees come out seemingly random at best. It took almost an hour for seven items to come out. By the time the grilled mackerel showed up, I was so agitated I couldn't even enjoy it.

The bill came out to over $200 for two people. The quality is there, but what's the point if you're being spoon fed like a baby?

Food is 4 star and atmosphere with service is 2-1/2 star. Just had $285 dinner for two, and don’t think we’ll come back. Amami is much better.

Excellent quality. We came here for lunch today on a Thursday and it was not packed; no need for a reservation. I spent a good 10 minutes trying to find parking behind el camino real though. The lunch specials were excellent. The menu is simple and elegant. The interior decor reminds me of when I was studying abroad in Japan. And the rice and ginger are excellent quality, and of course, the sashimi. Definitely worth it for lunch! Great service too.

Excellent sushi and best place to head before a flight for a good treat. Great variety of fish.

Overrated and over price place. Food drink collection and good presentation on food.
The tendon of otoro didn’t get removed, we have to spit it out- for 2/24bucks kinda feel like it’s necessary job to be done.
Also the sushi rice was over cooked like soft and out of shape. Really disappointed in the food. Nothing personal.

Am absolute hidden gem. Best sushi I have had outside of Japan. They had all of the special cuts - otor, chutoro, sake toro - plus a new new one for me, nodoguro, which was absolutely perfect. Authentic- made me feel like I was back in Japan. You know when they don’t serve you wasabi or anything to add onto the nigiri that you are in for a treat. It is no wonder why they have two Michelin recommended certificates. A new treat to look forward to when we have a long layover at SFO or just happen to visit the city.

Best sushi I've ever had! Have been here four times and will come back. The omakasi plate is to die for, and the other sushi and rolls are really good too! Very fresh and well prepared.

This sushi treasure is hidden in the rear of an average strip mall, yet the atmosphere and service are anything from ordinary. Guests at this restaurant are in for a wonderful, friendly, and courteous experience. The interior is sophisticated and fashionable, including towering pressed-tin ceilings and a very desirable eight-seat counter. Naturally, making appointments is required, and this is particularly true for the omakase, which features dishes that are on par with the very finest that San Francisco has to offer. Fans of nigiri should make a beeline for the chef's selection, but those with a more discerning palate will find that market specials, such as silky Hokkaido scallops, sweet and succulent live spot prawns (with the traditional deep-fried heads served alongside), and firm yet delectable octopus, are more to their liking. Every detail is kept to a minimum, which serves the purpose of drawing attention to the superior quality of the product.

This place is a miss all around. Rolls are super expensive for what you get. Ambiance is not great and neither is the location. Ordered 5 rolls but when they brought our rolls out they said they were out of the ingredients for one of the rolls so they only brought us 4. When we asked to get another roll, they told us the kitchen was closed! Such poor service and communication. They did refund the miso soups and offered to give us ice cream so that was appreciated but we wanted rolls in order to fill us up, not sugar! The nail in the coffin was that when they brought the bill they had charged us for the roll the never brought and I had to bring it to their attention. No apology or acknowledgment.
Do yourself a favor and skip this place!

This is Japan level sushi. The fish is fresh and amazing. Done just right. A nice small gem of a place. It's like being back in Japan.

When coming up to drop off at SFO we found this little gem of a Japanese restaurant. It brought us back to our trips to Japan and tasted as fresh as it did over there. The sushi was made masterfully and displayed elegantly. I will be going out of my way to come here in the future but it'll be worth it!

Wow! I felt like I was back in Tokyo. The fish was so fresh and sweet. It was a delight. The tempura was light and crispy. The miso soup was flavorful. It was beautifully plated too; as is the Japanese way. It wasn't cheap but it was the best sushi I've had since Tokyo. It brought back lovely memories. We'll definitely be going back, even though it's an hour from home.
