I did this in 2018 and it was so nice having a specific running buddy with me to support me. Super fun, safe environment, kind and supporting group, and boosted my confidence.

GOTR is a great way to help young girls in the community be empowered and stay healthy. As a coach, I could really see how exercising and also getting to know the girls helped them become more confident and joyful overall. This is a great organization that people can contribute to directly by coaching or even indirectly by participating in many of their fundraising running events.

Being involved with Girls on the Run of the Bay Area has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my adult life. As a volunteer and coach, I have enjoyed the opportunity to help empower girls to discover their limitless potential. The GOTR curriculum pairs training for a celebratory 5K with social emotional learning throughout the season. The lessons help girls form healthy habits and build confidence, as well as equip them with tools to navigate complex social challenges- like bullying, gossip, and peer pressure. The 5K is always well-organized and full of positive energy, as 2500+ girls come together from around the Bay to crush their goal!

I coached for Girls On The Run for a season and I truly enjoyed learning and growing with my teams. Overall, it was a positive experience and I highly recommend this as a way for young girls to stay active and learn valuable life skills and lessons. The seasonal 5K race was also a super fun experience and a great way for family and friends to get involved as well.

Great environment for girls to thrive physically and mentally in this crucial developmental stage of life!
The 5K run at the end of the course is open to everyone and it’s super fun (usually held on the first Sunday of May)
