Hands down my favorite dinner in wine country. Intimate, delicious, great wine list and service. All the vegetable dishes are standouts.especially loved the Brussels sprouts. Will be back!

Creative California comfort food (what does that even mean?). Never pretentious, but definitely satisfying pasta, pizzas & entrees. Desserts are solid & the service is excellent. Well curated wine list too.

Great food options (boar, wagyu, Brussels, etc.) and curated wine selection made for a great experience. Atmosphere felt comfortable and informal and service was attentive. Will be back

This was one of my worst dining experiences for quite some years and I do go out a lot with family and friends to well rated restaurants. We tried for months to get reservations at the Star, and we are located in Glen Ellen, but it is difficult for them to make space for more than 4 people. Understandable giving the small place. Anyway, it worked for 8: 30pm for 6 in August. We all looked forward to it, because we finally succeeded and were eager to learn what the buzz is all about this restaurant! Reception was great but our 1st disappointment came when they did not provide any cocktails. Ok pretty sure they do not have a license for hard liquor, but unusual for a restaurant of this level. I then looked at the beer and wine menu, which very strange items. No beer that I would even recognize and I do know a lot of beer companies in Sonoma County. Decided for a can (no draft beers available) of an for me unknown beer brand based on beer style preference and it was terrible quality. Ok, ordered another one but it was as bad. The server suggested an IPA, but I did not order that one because the price for a little can (12 oz) was $16, yes for a small can of IPA. They have IMWO mostly low know brands on their List so they can get away with the high charges. That is ok if it tastes good. Their selections do not! (I also tried 1 glass of wine with the same negative result. So now about the food: They are very proud of their fresh bread and butter and looking at the menu at home we were all excited for that. But what a pity, when ordered we're told that they are out of that. The waitress told us we could have some Sourdough pizza instead and put butter on it! Oh My! Sorry, but that really killed my dining mood. I could go on and on about the Brussel spouts, the $16 salty salad that was difficult to find on the plate and how slow their service was, took the waitress 20+ minutes after seating to say hello to us. In the middle of the dinner we had friends leaving, having enough of the food and service. One thing. The Pizza is good. Go for that only! Despite all the negative I did leave a nice tip but will never return nor recommend the Glen Ellen Star to anybody! The place is highly overrated, pricey and not worth to waster your well earned money!

We had excellent pizza. We were seated just on the other side of the kitchen at a bar top counter. It was amazing to watch them work. Great atmosphere

The tomato cream pie was the best pizza I’ve had in years. It looks deceptively like a normal cheese pizza but don’t let it fool you, it’s insanely good. The lamb pumpkin butter pasta was also delicious. Cauliflower glued my mouth shut a bit (tahini was a bit too thick) but honestly I don’t care given the pizza and pasta.

This place ROCKS. Holy cow. One of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in quite some time.

Our server, Gregg, was awesome—attentive, personable, fun, laid back. He set a fantastic tone from the moment we alked in. The incredibly talented chefs in the kitchen made things even more enjoyable. It was really fun watching them work their magic throughout the evening.

We started with the brussels sprouts and vegetable soup, both of which were divine. My wife and I love brussels sprouts, and found Glen Ellen Star’s preparation to be highly refreshing, as you get the same level of crispness without all of the oil from deep frying them. Amazing! The soup was to die for, as well.

For our entrées, my wife had the lamb pasta and I had the specialty white pizza with shaved black truffle. Oh my goodness, words cannot describe how good these two entrées were. We polished off a reasonably priced Cabernet with everything, which took the entire dinner up yet another notch. And then we kept everything off with some of their homemade ice cream, which was terrific.

13/10 HIGHLY recommend this spot

A charming and friendly village in Sonoma wine country. Lots of nice places to eat and visit. Excellent wineries around.

Very noise place. My table was across the entry for the toilette. Staff cleaning the dishes were just across the toilette. Patrons/staff would not close this curtain separating toilette from area where we seat. I had the fish that was served in a bed of a dark sauce that just didnt go well with the fish. I will not go back!

This place is fantastic. The Brussel sprouts and the bread are amazing. Had the Wagyu paired with the heritage to finish off this splendid dinner.

Lamb pasta was delicious, steak was also great. Everyone around us was eating pizza, so definitely want to go back for that!

Our daughter and son-in-love’s rehearsal dinner was hosted here this past weekend. We had their private room. The customer service was amazing! The food was spectacular! We had panzanella salad, jalapeño cheddar bread, the cauliflower, corn, brussel sprouts, fish, chicken, rigatoni, cheesecake and homemade ice cream! Yum! All served family style. We will be back!

Fantastic spot, great food. I will say that we did feel a bit rushed. Food came out VERY quick which isn’t always a bad thing but in a place like this you want to slow down and spend a bit more time. Will be back.

Outstanding, casual meal in a quaint small house in a small town. Although everything was excellent, the chocolate budino was my favorite, (but admittedly, I can't get that tomato cream pie out of my mind.) Since the food is priced so reasonably, splurge on a nice bottle of wine. We went with a local pinot (Freeman) and were not disappointed. My only quibble is that the meal moves along too briskly, so there's not much time to savor the experience. It's hard to fault them, however, since the place is so tiny, this keeps the tables in rapid rotation-and keeps the restaurant open! Perhaps someday if they are able to expand (no idea what zoning laws are like in Glen Ellen) they can add a bar/cocktail program and some leisurely enjoyment.
