Golden King Restaurant reviews
11We ordered, beef pho, shrimp pho, chicken pho, veggie pho and rolls and everything was delicious. Definitely will go back again.
I really like their spring roll. It’s so special and different from others. I ordered on Ubereats and picked it up myself. The timing is great. I got a 5 spice chicken. Good. It comes with two spring rolls. And lemon grass shrimp. I really like lemon grass 香茅
They seem like such nice owners and the food looks decent, but that’s the point where things start to go severely awry. The flavor of just about everything they make taste unauthentic and is missing key flavors. Their Viet coffee is the worst I’ve ever tasted, as though they didn’t use the correct ingredients or know how to prepare it. The spring rolls were okay: 2 very large untidy rolls with missing flavors, but the sauce was decent. The one item they could hit just right was the fried rice, probably because Chinese cooks should be able to hit that recipe out of the park every time. The BBQ meats are missing the right flavor, the pickled carrots and daikon flavors are off, the fish sauce was way off, etc. They just can’t pull off Vietnamese cuisine preparation without a little French influence, which Chinese cooking never has. Oh well, it was worth a second attempt, because we wanted to get a rounded menu experience.
I’ve tried about 80% of the pho places in SF and I have to say that Golden King is now my new favorite (used to be Turtle Tower). I order from here a few times a week and get the Pho Dac Biet. The service is super fast and the pho broth and meat is so good!
A good place to eat when in Chinatown. The prices are low, and the food delicious. They prepare the food rather quick, so this is also a good place when you have limited time. The place features a quite extensive menu, with many classic dishes to choose from. I loved the Five Spice chicken. And they serve tea as soon as you get in.
Love the prices here and how quick the service is! I came here on a Thursday night with no line at all and the food came very quickly!
Food: I got the vermicelli with pork and imperial rolls and really appreciated the flakiness and crunch of the rolls in addition to the fish sauce! I also tried the standard pho bowl which was quite average but the vermicelli had a great portion size and great flavor!
Service: The waiters let us stick around for a long time which was super nice of them and we stayed for about two hours!
Ambiance: Super casual, felt like an eatery and was very much a quick cheap place to eat!
I enjoyed my experience and would go for huge portions at low cost!
Terrible experience! They said the Bun Bo Hue is the house's special, but it tastes strange and completely different from the REAL Bun Bo Hue. They shouldn't put it to the top of the menu, because their Bun Bo Hue is not acceptable. Very disappointed.
I came here with a group of 10. Half of us ordered Pho and the broth was salty. The noodles were over cook. It did not have the Vietnamese flavor. I couldn’t finish the pho as well. I would not recommend the pho here.
Great spot, not busy when my friends and I came in. Food came out quick and was great. Generous portion size and for only around $10
Generous cuts of meat in excellent tasting Pho broth. Friendly folks and perfect dive when it's chilly and rainy outside. Great selection on the menu.
I believe this place is more Chinese than Vietnamese. Decided to try based on several Yelp reviews claiming it's the best Vietnamese beef stew in the Bay Area. It's ok. Chunks of beef were tender, but it was missing chunks of tendon and carrot. The broth tasted ok, but not really like Vietnamese-style broth.
