Goldfish Point Cafe

Positives: Super friendly staff and you can’t beat the views. Good people watching location as well since it’s right on the water. The prices are very fair considering the location as well.

Cons: It’s small details that make all the difference for most people. Use real avocado (and charge more) instead of the pasty salty stuff you get from a bag. Serve chips or a pickle (and charge more) instead of a handful of kids meal goldfish (I get the themed element considering the cafe name but a single gold fish on the plate would have the same if not more impactful effect). Offer to warm up a pastry instead of serving cold. Ask a clients name and call out their name when food is ready. Small mostly free changes would make a big difference here.

Acknowledgment: Operating a cafe in an expensive and high traffic market like La Jolla is difficult. That’s a fact. At the same time, because you operate in such a nice market, the expectation of a higher quality ingredients and touches is expected and appreciated (touristy cafe or not). I hope this helps both future patrons and owner (s) alike.

I didn’t expect too much of the Cafe being a tourist sandwich shop. However, the sandwiches are marginal at best. The Cubano sandwich that I had was anything but a Cuban sandwich. Not even close and for the price they add maybe a handful of goldfish crackers to go along with your sandwich. The restroom was disgusting which shows how much the owners care about their patrons. Nope won’t be back or recommend this place. Very friendly staff I will say.

Pretty good! I had the Greek scramble and a caramel latte. Both were delicious, and the portion along with the bit of greens that came with the scramble was more than enough for me.
Staff was friendly. This place is pretty simple. You order, find a seat, then when your food is ready you go and grab it from the window. The view of the ocean is good, and I could hear the sea lions down below.
Four stars because the seating area was dirty, needed to be swept and tables wiped down.
I’d for sure come back here for a drink in the afternoon.

Awesome views but restaurant was so dirty. Bathroom was in similar condition to the gas station bathrooms. Such a cute little spot I am not sure why they don’t take more pride in cleaning up their space, lots of potential! I would go back to have a beer and watch the views but that’s about it.

Nice sandwich place with a beautiful view, and I loved that they gave us a side of goldfish! Very fitting for the name!

Horrible service horrible place. POS in the kitchen told me theres no restroom. When my kids needed to use it. I was also going to purchase some food items. I will never go here again.

My girlfriend and I wanted to try this place. They have a beautiful location with a view of the water. However, the staff needs to work on their customer service. They were closed on *Saturday at 5pm even though their hours say 7pm. Staff was very rude when asked. Didn’t offer any explanation just closed the door in our faces. I would take my money else where.

My review was to bring some problems that I had noticed to the Goldfish Point Cafe administration's attention to improve their business. Here it is:

This place definitely needs improvement.
It is not clean. I can only imagine how their kitchen looks. One basic omlet tasted like soap.
Staff was unmasked.
The only restroom was out of order.
I hope that management will take care of everything ASAP.

Nice view and atmosphere. Cuban sandwich was average. Decent prices considering it's La Jolla.

Their iced mocha was served with whipped cream and their chocolate was great! Their cold brew was good, but nothing spectacular! I did not get food there but I did notice that their prices were pretty high. This place is conveniently located near the Coast Walk!

Great vibe and good food. Owners are friendly and there is a beautiful view of ocean from the cafe. Highly recommend if you are in La Jolla. Also there are options for kids

The view over the harbor is amazing. The coffee machine needs a cleaning. But the matcha latte was very good. You can directly inspect the cove from the café. Since coffee seems to be a rare need along the coastline, this place helps out.

Nice spot in busy area with water view. We got italio panini with freshly squeezed lemonade and it was decent. The service was great and quick!

Went there at 10am on Sat, August 7th 2021 and it was closed.but yet sign says open at 10am. Massive Fail on the owner!

Not impressed. Customer service nearly nonexistent. Not even a hello when we entered. The barista station and BOH was disgusting. The espresso machine was covered in grime and clearly not cared for. The barista did not know how to steam milk either. Underneath the grinder was an unbelievable pile of grounds. I ordered an iced matcha latte - tasted nothing like matcha. It was pretty much a sweet cream latte with a slight green color. This place does have a lot of potential to be really great. Location is nice.

Great views from this little cafe, the beer and wine list was far more than your average cafe and the food was just what I was looking for. Outdoor seating is as close to the water as you can get from anywhere in that area.

Arrived at six, it was not packed.the staff was very sociable and kind.the bill was good for how much you get.similar to a cafe in las vegas i loved.

So glad I paid $5 bucks for two sodas and the chance to use this gem of a bathroom. Sick job on the hygiene guys! Not even COVID wants to hang around in this bathroom.

Very unfriendly staff. Demanding mask while I was standing outside and reading the menu. Demanding of mask is totally ok nowadays, but the tone and intonation makes all the difference. Their food is very basic, croissants were not great at all - very chewy. Positive side - you face the ocean across the road.

Best iced vanilla latte I’ve ever had! Rich and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. Will definitely be going back to try more espresso drinks!
