Gold's Gym, Los Angeles CA

This place needs to organize the weight racks! The weights are always scattered, not even at planet fitness which is 400% cheaper is this the case. You have enough employees to get this accomplished for your guests.

Man, I like this gym but it seems like lately something important is always broken, lately it’s been the A/C, as soon as you walk in you can feel the humidity and heat. It feels really muggy.
Also can y’all please put the table with the spray bottles out again, let us help you in keeping the gym sanitary, there’s a lot of people with questionable hygiene that don’t clean up after themselves. The staff does an ok job, but they can’t be everywhere at once.

Where do I even begin.

1. Equipment scattered everywhere and impossible to find. There’s no one around to re-rack weights. Also a culture of leave-s***-everywhere. I spend half my time just scavenging for whatever I can find.

2. The single most packed gym I have ever been to. Coming from someone who has been working out 10+ years and used countless gyms.

3. Bench press/squat bar weights are inconsistent. Rather then being 45lbs across the board like at every other gym I’ve been to, the bar weight/size vary depending on which you get. If I’m on the bench, and I put (for example) 45lb plates on each side, I should reasonably be allowed to expect to be pushing the same weight each time. But not here.

4. It’s unreasonably hot and humid. They set up makeshift fans around the gym. This hasn’t stopped every person in the gym from being absolutely drenched in sweat after 15 minutes of working out. I can feel myself struggling to breath as soon as I walk in.

5. General failure of maintenance/cleanliness. From the trash strewn about to all the machines regularly breaking down, I can’t go a single day without feeling like I’m watching a sinking ship.

6. There is no service in there, and their Wi-Fi is down constantly, so you can’t eve.listen to your music

I just got my membership two months ago and my experience has not been the best. Every time I come in to use the gym there’s something shut down. It could be a workout machine, the studio, the sauna etc. Fix it immediately

I’ve been coming to this gym for years, but in the past couple of months the quality has seriously been declining. There’s always something that isn’t working here. The bathrooms are literally falling apart, yes they’re renovating but at least fix the sinks/toilets that are available. There tends to be poor cleanliness in the bathroom and toilet paper and liner are often out. The AC does not work and feels very hot and humid. Who can work out like that? Especially when the gym is packed. The gym has been increasingly crowded to the point that there’s no available equipment. I walked out recently because there was literally no machines or benches open. If you’re considering getting a membership here, think again. Or at least wait until everything is renovated/fixed. I hope I can update this if things get better.

There is something wrong every week.last week their AC didn’t work and the whole gym smelled like sweat. This week the women locker room is closed for construction without providing temporary lockers outside the locker room. This is a downtown location that people go to work out after work, where am I supposed to put my expensive laptop and change to workout clothes? Unacceptable

The air conditioner at Golds Gym in dtla has been out for almost a month. It is so hotttt and awful in there. Feels like the gates of hell have opened up as soon as you walk in. And they still havent fixed it. All they have is 2 small fans in the classroom. That literally does nothing. Heat is too extreme. I just joined another gym short-term to do my work outs in air. I really hope when I come back, they have the air fixed in there. Shame on the owners for not getting this fixed asap. Members should def be getting a discounted rate for all the months we come in there and work out in that hot box hell. All I can say is shame on them. Its really sad. Dont go there unless u want to feel like your in a sauna the whole time. So bad.

Been a member of this gym for years and it has really starting going downhill since the renovations started. Yes I understand that things will be a bit disheveled during the renovations but this is ridiculous! The locker room/ bathrooms are disgusting. Water on floors, moldy sinks, towels and trash in the stalls. Only 2 sinks have a good amount of water coming out to wash your hands. Yesterday the lighting in the stalls were pitch black so everyone had to go to the bathroom in the dark! This was reported several times.

Covid -19 is rising in LA you would think that the sanitizer dispensers would be filled but they have been empty for weeks. The disinfectant bottles are filled with mostly water. Btw, the disinfectant is blue. Asked a team member why they don't put more disinfectant in the bottle said they only put a couple of drops to save money. Yes, all this has been reported and nothing done.

The air conditioner in the group fitness room has been broken for weeks. A class member reported this to management and was told that they keep them off because of condensation and if someone falls on the dripping water it would be a hazard and working on getting them fixed. An older women in class today was about to pass out from the heat so that would be a hazard too, no? How about getting some fans in there. Definitely wouldnt recommend anyone to this gym.

Honesty, if I could give this place 0 stars I would. Their payment system is absolutely trash. Every month I have another issue with automatic payments. I tried to cancel a tanning package three months ago and still get charged. No one really knows what’s going on or the processes. Tried to cancel again today but was told there is no manage on staff over the weekends that can help and to come in during the week. Just save yourself a headache and go to another gym.

This is what I consider to be a yuppie gym, or a softy gym for people that have a lackadaisical attitude towards athletics and life in general. It is okay for moderate physical goals. But if you like to bang your head on the lockers before you hit the iron. This ain't the place for you! If you got to scream and yell to complete your routine. This ain't the place for you. If you grew up fist fighting just to make the team this ain't the place for you. If trained with Olympic Gold Medalists and World Champions you're going to feel out of place at Gold's Gym. If you're striving to reach the Outer Limits go to another gym. If you want to gossip on your smart phone, lollygag and doddle and get in people's way trying to seriously workout, Gold's Gym is the perfect place for you. This taking all this in consideration, it's not the management or the facilities that deserve any demerits, It's just the typical Judeo-Christian yuppie type of attitude that's bad about Gold's Gym

The gym has gone through some renovations with their locker rooms. The men’s steam room works half the time. Showers are not that bad. When it comes to workout equipment, they’re not that bad though some are in desperate need of regular repairs and maintenance. If you like indoor cycling, good luck! They have 4 bikes that are falling apart and the most of their indoor cycling bikes are locked up in a room that can only be accessible during their cycling courses that are mediocre at best. Other group exercises are ok though after several years remain the same classes with little to no change. Staff are somewhat friendly. Towels are stained at time after they’ve been washed. Overall, 5 out of 10. For the $50.00 monthly membership, you can definitely go to a better gym if willing to pay more in Downtown.

I’m sorry, you guys really should limit the number of members. Wifi router is not working when there’s a congestion. Towels and dumbells are everywhere like garbages. Poor members who don’t rerack their weights. Pull over machine has been broken for more than 3 months. All in all, guys stop coming to this gym. More people = garbage quality

Why doesn’t the gym require that members be vaccinated or show proof of being negative. And why doesn’t enforce that clients use a mask while performing their routines?

1.the equipment is old and broken

2.no one who manages this gym even knows how to work out, and have no business being in charge of a gym.they can't identify problems or even understand why they need to be solved when brought to their attention

3.there's no cellular service and their internet is down constantly, so you can't listen to your music
