GRAMMY Museum L.A. Live reviews
16 My life flashed before my eyes many times the other day when we were visiting family in the San Bernardino area.
The drive was a bit long since the Grammy museum is in Greater Los Angeles. One hour and five minutes to be exact. But it was a pleasant drive.
It was so nice to see all of my favorite peoples belongings all in the same place. I saw Ravi Shankar’s sitar, Michael Jackson’s gloves, his military jackets, (Riley) BB kings guitar and jackets and a lot of other famous people like James Brown, Elvis, etc!
I learned that Elvis Presleys natural hair color was almost blonde. That the Temptations who sang the song: “My Girl” were all at least 6’0 tall
And their names were actually:
1.) Otis Miles Williams
2.). Eddie James Kendrick (Kendrick)
3.). David Melvin English (Franklin)
4.). Paul Williams
5.). Davis (David) Eli Ruffin my cousin by
Marriage
I also learned that Christian Payton the actor who played Paul Williams in the temptations movie sang all of his parts in the movie. And that DB Woodside who played Melvin Franklin layered mist of his vocals in the movie with recordings of the real Melvin Franklin singing.
Actor Leon, only sang the part: “and I refuse to let you go” where Eddie Kendrick’s and. Otis Williams had gone to visit him in his Orange and red apartment.
Finally I learned that Louis Price one of the Temptations in the 1970’s actually sang all of the David Ruffin parts in the Temptations movie while Leon lip synced!
Great museum! Please check it out…. It opens at 12 noon.
Kinda boring. At least you can take pictures. A few years ago you could not. Their gift shop is very expensive.
Very nice museum. Cool interactive exhibits and interesting videos to view on many genres of music. My favorite was the Michael Jackson memorabilia as well as the many Grammy outfits they had on display. 3 floors of cool music related stuff. The Motown exhibit was also very interesting. When I went they were requiring proof of vaccination and ID. Also check out the music boxes in the gift shop very cute.
This place is such a gem right in my own back yard. I used to work right next door for 2 years and am ashamed it took me moving away to finally become a member and visit. I came for a Conversation with Rick Ross in the Clive Davis theater which was a really intimate and awesome experience. I can't wait to tour the exhibits and attend similar intimate events with different artists now that I'm a member. Highly recommended for music lovers.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Girl at front desk was terrible. Could not provide me with a receipt of purchase nor print my tickets after informing me she would provide me with what I needed in an hour. After 3 hours she claimed she shut system down and forgot after stating she would get me what I needed for proof of purchase. Made no attempt to rectify her mistake or get me the ticket stubs I purchased.
Very impressive displays with iconic items from many artists. My favorites were Michael Jackson's Thriller red leather jacket, and all-things Motown. The Motown exhibit was really impressive.
I attended an event here and had the opportunity to view a number of the displays. It is very interesting and a lot of great thing for music lovers.
Great experience for anyone who loves music. They have a wide range of memorabilia from tons of artists and interactive videos / a sound room showing what music would have sounded like back in the day. One of the better experiences I had when visiting LA
Decent offering, a little small, 30mins had us around it, which meant the $15 entrance fee felt a little steep. 3 floors but it felt more like corridor space. It could be more interactive and have a more international edge to it.
The museum was kind of small. It is 4 floors but you really only get a handful of experiences which some seem kind of random. Some absolutely make sense
In tears of excitement and joy! Super awesome museum, quick visit and loads of cool things. Wish their shop was bigger and had more Grammy related gifts. There was only a couple of things available - T shirts and mugs. I wish I could have a miniature of a Grammy!
Grammy museum is one of the best museums you want to visit the music is fantastic the history of the musicians are overwhelming I believe that everyone should visit it and learn so much more about the people that you get to hear about in entertainment business you'll be surprised it will touch your heart and you will be educated in such a wonderful musical way
The experience was very engaging, and I learned so much about the Grammy and the biggest artists in the industry.
Amazing place! The Clive Davis theater is a great place for an intimate performance. Debbie Gibson was incredible!
Glad to see the Grammy Museum focuses on history and various types of music culture. It was inspiring to see costumes, awards, video, photos, and music form a variety of artists. Worth a visit.
It was cool. Especially for only 15$. I expected more Especially with it being right by staples center
