5 These campgrounds are all over this area. Get a year pass. After 8 nights it pays for itself. Weekends are busy, but during the week getting a spot is no problem.
I should add, that the manager here is the nicest person. He was so helpful in giving information. Always cordial, waving as he walked his puppy checking on things. A really cool guy.
Beautiful view. This river was our view point from our one night dry tent camp. It poured rain and we sat in the truck and decided to go to town to eat. We returned and the ground either soaked up the rain or it drained into the river. So we decided to set up the tent (I really did not want to sleep in the truck).
Campground is next to the highway that's rather active during the night. So know that you will hear the highway traffic! But the views are beautiful!
I wanted to get us in the Donner's Memorial State Park but it was booked. We would camp here again. It may not be our first choice but it's certainly not on a Do Not Go Back list either. I was just wanting to check out the Donner party info but that will be another trip.
Extremely small sites right on the highway. You have to scream at each other to talk over the traffic flying by. We planned on 2 nights but only stayed one and left 1st thing in the morning. Beware of campsite 15. You share it with the pit toilets and the dumpster. Only positive is the river on the other side of the campsite and the clean-ish pit toilets.
Bring a flashlight for the "bathroom" but the view of the stream is amazing. At least after daily rain.
Nice clean campground right on the truckee river the only thing is its also right on hwy 89 so alot of traffic goes by
