Grapes & Hops Deli reviews
18This is the best liquor store and deli in downtown! The sandwiches are made fresh to order with great inredients. My husband loves the California Thanksgiving. As a vegetarian, I love the On the Mark, toasted on jalapeño cheddar bread. My niece asked me to bring her an Italian Club sandwich all the way up to North County (they'rethat yummy). The liquor store has a huge selection, and if there is anything they don't carry, Joe will get it for you. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. No need to go anywhere else.
Joey is the absolute best. This is an amazing store with amazing service! Could not recommend more
Best deli and sandwiches in town. Joe and Joey are San Diego staples and if you’re in the area give this place a visit
Best Sandwiches in San Diego! Their Rosemary roll is what living is all about! Huge menu as well as build your own, portions are very generous and the alcohol and wine selection ain't bad either!
Still haven’t even had any of the food made to order. Appreciate and or like and love about everything else.
This is my favorite deli in San Diego for two reasons: The Honey Bee and Gaslamp Elite are the two best sandwiches in the city and no place has a friendlier staff.
I could end my review right there, but everyone should know about how Grapes & Hops helped San Diego Pride in its first year back after the pandemic. Due to employees calling out sick, a vendor who was supposed to provide lunch for the volunteers pulled out at the last minute. I called Joe, the owner, to see if Grapes and Hops could fill an order for 400 sandwiches with just a couple days' notice. He enthusiastically jumped in, provided the excellent customer service he always does and saved the day.
I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses who support their community right back. Joe and his team are awesome!
Editing my review and changing from 3 to 5 stars. The sandwiches are great. The reason for the prior bad review was frequent inappropriate comments from staff, which have stopped entirely months ago. Staff is now friendly and professional!
Not one to leave reviews, but this place is terrible. $12 for a dry sandwich was 2 slices of meat in it? Then they're bold enough to charge almost $4 for a bottle of Smart Water? No wonder there were no prices posted. Don't waste your money- go to the Foodery across the street.
Joe and the staff are great here. They have everything for a good time. Alcohol, beer, cigars, food, sandwiches, and more.
My experience was fast and short. But was not bad at all. Great selection of beer wine and spirits. I would go back if in the area again.
Great local packie (liquor store) always friendly guys with great advice when you are looking for something different.
New to the area and figured we would give this little deli a try. I didn't expect much, but I wasn't happy with what I got. I got an Italian sandwhich, and it had decent amount of meat on it, and 2 small spinach leaves, followed by hardest any cheese. The bread (had a onion hoagie roll) had a squirt of Italian salad dressing on it and was dry. My wife ordered the New York nod that was pastrami and swiss, they choose a pretzel roll. What she got was a measley pretzel roll with one slice of pastrami and one slice of swiss hardly any sour kraut and lathered in mustard. Neither of these sandwhiches was worth the $12 for them, $15 if you got the $2 snack size chip. Great liquor store for Downtown, but skip the food.
I hate leaving bad reviews, but I mean cmon. I paid for a Ruben, and I got a cold, dry, sauerkraut sandwich with a single slice of pastrami. Not to mention the bread is stale and crumbling. Don’t order the Ruben. ️
Online service is great! The shipping to was really fast had a problem with the address and customer service fixed it the next day.great store!
It looks like just an ordinary liquor store if you pass by, but if that's what you do, pass by, you'll have missed downtown's best sandwich shop.
You may note the Boar's Head logo signifying quality meats are used. That's just the beginning. The big assortment of freshly baked breads (try the rosemary roll) makes an even bigger difference. The salads are bomb too. All this comes with neighborly customer service, and a wine and premium liquor selection that will delight the most discriminating connoisseurs.
So glad I found this place!
Popped in to see what kind of snacks they had, and not a single person of the 4 people working their from the stockers to the woman at the lunch counter had a mask on. I had to leave immediately bc how unsafe I felt.
If I could give this place a thousand stars I would! We have been looking for crown imperial cherry for well over a year and another evening it came up within an add-in my social networking page beneath grapes and jumps deli. I was ecstatic to have the ability to place an order on the web! They will certainly get my business in the long run!
If I could give this place a million stars I would! We've been searching for crown royal peach for well over a year and the other day it came up in an add on my social media page under grapes and hops deli. I was so ecstatic to be able to place an order online! They'll definitely get my business in the future!
