Great Basin Bakery, Bishop CA

Enjoyed our stop here again driving through. Also stopped by Schat's Bakery too, but I like how it's less crowded here and I'm fine with the fewer options of breads, sandwiches, cookies, and pastries as long as they're good.
They should put prices on all their menu items as I had to ask the cashier for prices.

Breakfast Croissant sandwich- I appreciate they use organic eggs and it was hot when I got it. This was a FULL meal as it was a large sandwich. Pretty good. I would get it again for an easy meal.

Iced Chai Latte- Meh. Too light in flavor for me.

Cookies-
Rosemary Shortbread was strong in rosemary flavor, but I would've liked the cookie to melt in my mouth more easily comparing it to others I've had elsewhere.
Sierra Mud Cookie- Still my fav. Strong in chocolate flavor and it's gluten free!

Excellent bread at an excellent price. But they need to step up their customer service. I waited in line a very long time to pay just to discover that apparently it wasn't the correct line. The rude man behind the cash register did not seem at all interested in acknowledging the fact that I had been there a lot longer than the men he was about to serve and thought I should go to the back of their line. I am well aware that we small, gray haired women often get ignored. I may be old, but I am not invisible.

Don’t expect pleasant staff here. Bought a to-go salad and didn’t discover until later there was no salad dressing. Oh well, I ate it anyway, dry. The next time I bought a to-go salad, again no dressing. When I politely asked how to get some, the woman making sandwiches pretended to not hear me. We were 4 feet apart. It was weird. The guy behind the register was no better. He was downright surly when I nicely explained I was trying to avoid a second time not having dressing. I finally got some dressing, but jeez people. Can you help a customer and be polite? I left feeling like I had done something wrong.

Really lovely bakery. Well worth a visit. We sat outside and enjoyed our breakfast two mornings running whilst staying in Bishop.

Service leaves a lot to be desired. I frequented this place quite a bit in the last year and spent quite a bit of money. When it came time for me to redeem my points the girl that waited on me didnt know how to redeem my points, ok.so went in a few days later same thing still didn't know how to redeem my points and then i tried for a 3rd time.nothing. Never did she say hey youve been a good customer let me find out and help you out it was nothing and the attitude was like i really dont care not my problem. So the only regret i have is i spent way to much money here. Happily i can say i will never go into this business again and never say a good word about it

The sandwiches here are incredible! I am so impressed. Amazing vegan options. They were so good we went twice! Both before our hike in bishop and on our way out.

Always order Asiago sourdough bread on Tues/Thrs.only bakery that makes it. All items delicious.

Best bakery in Bishop! Much more than baked goods tho. Salads, sandwiches and the best soup I’ve ever had. Red Pepper Gouda on Wednesday and Thursday is incredible. The French bread is to die for. Hot filled croissants in the morning are perfect. Parking can be difficult but it is worth it! They are opening an Outlet Store soon in the RiteAid/Big 5 shopping center. 7/27 the Outlet is open! 10-5

Their everything bagel is amazing! The brownie and chocolate croissant too! We will stop again for sure on our next trip to Mammoth

I couldn't be happier that Great Basin Bakery is not only excellent but the staff and owner are wonderful people in stark contrast to the other bakery on Main Street! I had a breakfast bagel that was so fresh I had to blow on the contents before biting into it! The bakery is clean organized and used to be an auto parts store although you wouldn't know it by looking at it. If you haven't stopped your truly missing out! I promise you won't regret it!

Such a wonderful selection of baked goods at reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back.
