The service here is what makes it so enjoyable and I'm not just talking about the people working here, preparing everything perfectly. The work they do is fantastic but the attention to detail is in the paper bags, the boxes they hand to you. It's an interesting experience, the box. It sits comfortably in your hands and there is enough friction to make lifting the lid a struggle. The monkey and coconut, the master and slave, it's a dialectical experience.

The food is good too, was full afterwardse. The mousse was done and it was pink, plump, and poignant notes. If i could put of their sandwiches in an antique display, on godd, it was get in the MoMA minioms

I used to come here 10yrs ago when I was a student at Cal. It amazing then and its still same great quality now! It was so nostalgic since nothing much has changed besides the fact they have salads now which is a great addition. Its a must visit if you are in berkeley. Much love for Gregoire.

A Berkeley staple! I always stop by when I’m around for the incomparable potato puffs. All the desserts are wonderful treats as well. Never disappointed by their menu

After seeing Gregoire listed in a few ‘top 10 of the East Bay’ lists and the glowing reviews on maps, I rode my bike up from Oakland to try it out. IMO the food was good, but not _great_ and overpriced considering what you’re getting. I got the steak sandwich and potato puffs and ended up paying $31.55 after tax and tip. Yes, I was guilted into paying a tip by the payment terminal even though there is no table service.
The steak sandwich was more like a lettuce sandwich with a few shavings of beef. It was $16.80 so naturally, I feel a bit ripped off. The bread was really good though.
The potato puffs were puffy but not super crispy on the outside. I think a sharper sauce like a hot sauce or vinegar would have been nicer than the brown mayo based sauce that it came with.

I come here often just for the potato puffs! Every flavor is good and we usually get multiple and share. The aioli is a little different every time, sometimes garlicky and sometimes balsamic but always so so good and we love that they switch it up. The staff is always super friendly, fast, and helpful

Fried chicken sandwich for the win. One of the best of the many vying for your attention these days. Salads are pretty dang good as well.

Love this cute little French place in Berkeley. Truffle potato puffs are amazing and definitely go on a day they have mushroom soup! So so good to enjoy outside on a nice sunny day

I love their potato puffs, they are such a delicious treat! Sandwiches are solid as well. Definitely worth any wait. Easy to order online and pick up.

Good food, pitifully poor portions. I got 3 Spicy rojo pulled pork with tomato salsa, avocado & cilantro on pantofolina bread. Maybe it was because they were about to close, but when I got home they hand so little food between the bread. My housemate says their fried chicken sandwich was much better. IF I decide to visit again I might try that.

I was passing by Grégoire on my way to another restaurant, and something smelled really good. So I ordered a thinly sliced leg of lamb, eggplant, and feta sandwich and potato puffs. The sandwich tasted good, but there was very little leg of lamb in there. Considering the fact that this is one of the more expensive sandwiches on the menu and that leg of lamb is listed as the main ingredient, I felt like there should have been more lamb meat. I expected the meat to be thinly sliced but NOT to be so thin in terms of the amount too!

It was also heavy. I would have liked it more if there was something refreshing in the ingredients to counter the grease and rich flavors of the sandwich.

I liked the potato puffs. They were neither too salty or greasy. Crispy on the outside, creamy inside. The sauce didn't add too much to the flavors, and I wish there was a little more sourness or maybe a bit of a spicy kick to it to go with the creaminess of potato puffs.

Best known for their sandwiches. The fried chicken sandwich, among others, is their go to. A bit pricey, but if you want a feast for your pallet, this is my recommendation.

It’s fast food but well executed and with a French/Canadian twist. The quiche was very tasty and with a great texture. Salad is fresh and the lamb sandwich was well seasoned. Perfect place for a weekend lunch.

I would kill a man for the poutine here. It’s a classic recipe and slaps hard. Can’t really find decent poutine or Jersey fries elsewhere in the bay so this’ll do.

Excellent food, I love the salads. They have a bunch of interesting seasonal vegetables, and they are surprisingly filling. I was stuffed after 3/4 of the box. There is no indoor seating; nice, limited seating outside (4 tables, plus some benches), and counter service for picking up your food.

The owner of this restaurant is a awesome business man. Runs the place like it's his. Perfect customer relations the quality of that keeps people coming back. That's huge.

Ce sont les boules frites. Very fragrant but very oily. The mashed potatoes were also really soft so the fried exterior didn't quite hold them all in. I thought they were a fun snack and the dip was good, but I don't think the texture and flavor was there for me if I'm paying $10 for some potato balls.

I have loved this place for many years but recently the service has been terrible. I’ve been there twice in a couple of weeks and the counter staff are consistently rude and inefficient. My order was right there and the person just refused to call it out for a good 5-10 minutes until I made it really obvious that I knew it was mine. No acknowledgement or apology.

The food is still fantastic! Can’t fault them for that but don’t come here expecting a smile.

Five stars for those potato puffs!
I was getting ready to move and had never gotten around to giving them a try, despite having heard about how good they were in the past.
I decided to stop by the week before I'd be leaving so that I could finally try them - I definitely wasn't disappointed!
I wish I had gotten them sooner now!

They had a mobile app with discounts and rewards available on it that made it very quick and easy to place an order for the potato puffs - they were ready within a few minutes of placing it and was able to walk right in and pick them up.

It's a very tiny establishment, clearly designed primarily for take-out, as there were just a few outdoor patio tables.
The service was very quick and efficient, however, so no issues there!

As for the potato puffs themselves, they were beautifully presented in a little hexagonal (I think) shaped box that was very aesthetic for photo-taking!
The potato puffs inside were steamy hot and came with some dipping sauce (I'm not quite sure what exactly type of sauce) that tasted great with them.
The puffs have a perfectly crispy and crunchy exterior as you bite into them, and then a gooey, mushy interior that just melts into your mouth and tastes like the riches, creamiest bite of mashed potatoes ever!
The slight tang from the sauce that you can dip them into was a great accompaniment to the textures and flavors of the puffs!

I haven't tried other food items from Gregoire's, but if they're anything like the potato puffs, they're probably delicious as well!

Definitely an incredibly delectable and delightful appetizer snack.
I'd get them again in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend!

I’m not reviewing this place because it needs it, I’m reviewing it so people know I have good taste. I miss growing up near here so much. The love and care put into the food here helped shaped my eating habits/taste in my later teens. Also got me over food issues and initiate interest in cooking! Gregoire himself showed up often back when I frequented pre-pandemic but positive the quality has been maintained. Once you experience that kind of intentional menu, you can never go back.
