Grotto Fish Market, Monterey CA

Perhaps I need to visit again but my first time I was disappointed at the 20 year straight clam chowder winner, the bread bowl they gave me was old and stale! Clam chowder was alright! The oysters where awesome! Overall place is cool probably give them another chance another time.

Ordered the crab roll and lobster roll to go. It was fantastic! The bun was warm and fresh. The rolls had great flavor. Also had the clam chowder and that’s a 5-star soup.

Awesome spot. Our view was very nice. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We got the Ahi Tuna, Avocado & Mango Tower which was so good and tasted so fresh. Also got the New England Lobster Roll Sandwich it was amazing. The presentation of it was great and it was so tasty.

The seafood is not fresh, the crustacean legs are not crispy but soft like gum. The price is very high for a product of very low quality, avoid this site.

The seafood is not fresh. We are Spanish and we have paid a lot for something that is really not worth it. I don't mind paying if the quality is good, but it's not the case.

The great local American seafood restaurant in the Wharf. This is their more casual restaurant but small. They had great and fresh seafood. Their lobster roll and Bloody Mary were delicious. I had their cioppino that was quite good but needs a bit more spice. Otherwise, a great restaurant and more friendly than the other sister restaurant.

You wait to be placed and after you are pushed to leave as soon as possible once served, the prices on the menu do not correspond to the final note, even though the dips are mentioned. Very very disappointed.

Amazing food. One would think that it is the typical touristic attraction with no quality but it is actually very good. The clam chowder was amazing! The clam chowder with bread though is smaller than you would think as the bread takes up for the majority of the dish, but it was so good that we ordered other 2 small portions after that. We also had salmon that was very well cooked and tasty, crab cake that comes with a sweet mango sauce and the jumbo shrimps which also were very good and light.
All in all a very good dinner overlooking the sea.

Wonderful! Everything! The food, the service, the owner! The lobster roll was the best I have had on the west coast and the clam chowder was so fresh! Definitely coming back on my next trip!

Imagine that you are on the big boat, you are in the restaurant, behind the window is ocean and you eating delicious dishes, drinking cocktails and enjoying your evening.

Everything was perfect for us, the unbeatable attention, the delicious food, the freshly made bread! And the price is more affordable than the place across the street from the same owner.

My family and I have been to this place a couple of times now. The clam chowder is definitely a reason to sit down and have a go at it, no complaints there at all. Service can be iffy, while the waitress or hostess is readily available when you arrive can be a 50/50 and you might need to go in and find your own table, you will get service, and they will catch on to you when you walk in. My wife loves their Caesar salad and salmon, it has been her go to dish in the past 3 visits. I recommend stopping by on a slow day since seating can get cramped in there. Definitely a nice place to sit down and enjoy the food. One down side I will say, is that their restrooms are actually located across the building inside the other grottos restaurant.
Overall, for the price and quality of food I will keep on stopping by anytime we get a chance to visit that area.
