Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ, San Diego CA

It's clean indoors. Good sauce but I don't like too sweet in marinated beef and cut too small. I know you guys love Korean BBQ, in my opinion, I feel like we eat spices. So I love a big slice with less sauce, so this place is not to my taste.
The restroom smelled bad, they should give the separator for sauces.

Excellent yakitori restaurant, amazing waitstaff, quick service, beautifully designed restaurant. If you’re not familiar with yakitori, it’s like fondue where you cook from a wide range of delicious proteins and vegetable on a grill connected to the table

All time favorite. I dont think we'll ever get tired of going here. And it still tastes the same after the nth time we've been here.

Great food and service! Highly recommend it. Only down fall was that you get charged for food that is leftover which makes sense but I left very little food and got charged.

I enjoyed the dining experience here. It was more expensive than expected, but high quality. Well -seasoned foods all-around.
The big difference from Korean BBQ is that it's not all-you-can-eat (maybe that means higher quality meats, I'm not sure).
The service was very good. The music could be heard from the kitchen, which clashed with the dining room music, but we didn't mind that too much.
Good experience overall.

I would eat this everyday if I could. On my last trip to San Diego I went twice! The table side hit sauce is also great!

Food Qasim great only thing I suggest is they get the food to the table sooner felt like I was waiting 15min per side to come through could be a bit faster but overall good spot to eat

We went here for our anniversary dinner. It was a nice atmosphere. We got the option 1 and ordered several sides really tasty. Even the veggies were good grilled and each portion of meat was quality.

Table was deceivingly small. Uncomfortable the whole time. Too much room is taken up by the burner elements. Chicken was pretty plain. Spicy tuna volcano needs to leave the menu. Smores could be more inventive rather than what every family takes camping. Would've like to have seen regular soy sauce and some kind of chili or hot sauce for table condiments. Staff was nice, food was quick. Some beef was pretty tasty. Might come back ‍️

I called around 3: 30pm to ask about reservation and the reception person said they can’t make a reservation for party under six people and there should be no line if we walk in around 5pm. So we drove 30 min to the restaurant and got there at 4: 42. The reception person said there’s too many reservations and the wait time is around 2 hours. The management of the restaurant is really terrible. I won’t waste my time again.

Poor Quality food. Host pushed me and broke my phone. Asked me to wait outside for food while other ethnic groups were allowed inside. Did not provide eating utensils with meal. Overcharged me for my meal. Don’t recommend it!

I used to come here all the time and I still do come quite often because honestly, the food is fantastic and their lunch specials are awesome! The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because every time I come alone, a few of the staff/servers give me a really uncomfortable vibe and I just didn't think that was right. When I come with my friends, they are fantastic! It's just when I come alone, a few of them act a little awkward to me and keep asking if I'm there alone. I come alone during my lunch break from work because I love the food, but feel uncomfortable when treated that way. The host is always wonderful and kind though. Like I said, love the food so will keep coming back, just wish some of the workers would be less awkward and kinder when I do come alone.

Amazing. I have been to this place multiple times. Today I took my best friend and she loved it. Can't waot for them to go back to all ypu can eat again

Went here and only ordered the small plates. All the food was delicious! We were least impressed by the black pepper wings, but it could have been because we ate them last and everything else was so delicious!

We ordered (left to right) the Spicy Miso Edamame, Spicy Cabbage Salad, Steamed Chili Dumplings, Spicy Tuna Volcano, Garlic Fried Rice and Black Pepper Wings (not pictured).

It is pretty fun to cook your own meats and vegetables but certainly don't save any money doing so. The preseason meets are nice and tender. The sauce is on the table also a nice way to add some additional flavor to your liking. I think for the money there are some better options but this is a fun interactive dinner.

Delicious food. Didn't seem it would suffice but was wrong. Great staff, very friendly and welcoming. Great experience. You gotta try and visit.

This location is a 35 mile drive…so we were very pleased that the service & food were worth the drive time. This concept makes eating out a fun experience!

First time. 4 for lunch. Ordered a package including different 11+ meats, beef, pork, chicken. Also comes with miso soup, salad, karague, gyu sashimi, others. This packages let you taste different plates, but you really neven know what meat you are eating, for future visits.

The shrimp were of decent size but not cleaned. The circulatory and nervous systems were still on the shrimp. Very off-putting and just gross. The Spring rolls were really greasy and the vegetables inside were a mushy paste. Just awful. The miso soup was OK, and the service was good.

Had this once when I first moved to California in January of this year, it’s literally my husband & I’s staple restaurant for date nights we’ve going so much too many to count on my fingers. We went last week & going again this week the food is amazing as well as fun to make!
