Hampton Inn San Diego/Del Mar reviews
19 Great.
Hotel is clean, breakfast is good.many parking spots (12$ fee per night).
Location is great, close to San Diego sea world.
I stayed here with my family on a visit to see our daughter at UC San Diego. The hotel is only 5 miles from the school though hidden from the freeway, the rooms and entire building is clean. The complementary breakfast is good and their customer service is friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately parking is a major problem at this hotel, they charge $12/day without informing us when booking through a 3rd party website. Even with the payment there’re limited parking spots outside, their underground basement parking spaces are so small and difficult for cars that are not compact size. If you’re not driving then you can stay here with no problem. Also it is overpriced at $250/night place parking charges.
Wow they locked everything they close everything so you can’t even do anything in the hotel unless you go to your room the bathrooms downstairs that are locked so if you want to go to your room and you have an emergency you need to run get the elevator, go back to your room and then go downstairs and go with your friends because they have the bathroom locked where are we going to end like prison any here in California?
2nd time staying here and it was okay.we live in a world where customer service is everything and had some troubles at first, but it is okay.
Undisclosed fees is the reason for the low rating. After checkout I was emailed a statement detailing a 75 dollar pet cleaning fee. My dog did not have any accidents or destroy anything. Additionally I was charged a 12 dollar per day parking fee. Neither of these fees were quoted to me before check in. When quoted a rate that is what I expect to pay, not a 20% inflated charge.
Stay away from this hotel. To complete need of renovation. The bathtub was completely gross and in need of replacement. Yuridia Gonzales the front desk manager was very rude and sarcastic informed, her GM Thomas Ulrich stood by made accusations of fraud when I requested a discount. It’s clear to see that the poor management not only includes the front desk manager, but the GM also.
GREAT MANAGEMENT HAVE GREAT EMPLOYEES, A+ PROPERTY, THIS HOTEL EXCEEDS ANY STANDARDS OVER QUALITY AND SERVICE, COVERED PARKING, GAS STATION, SHOPPING MALLS ARE JUST MINUTES AWAY FROM IT. HAMPTON INN FRANCHISE HAS THE BEST PROPERTY BY CARMEL VALLEY AREA.
The management team at this Hampton Inn would rather lose a customer (one that was staying twice a month) than refund a cancellation. This tells you how much they care about their clients. Oh I was rude for expecting a refund. Hilton diamond member not staying here any more.
We go to San Diego often and Hampton Inn Del Mar is still my favorite place to relax and chill. The staff is always so accommodating and nice.the rooms are clean. The location is great. We have stayed in many other hotels in San Diego, but The Hampton Inn has a comforting atmosphere that the others do not have.
This place is definitely 5star. Breakfast, services and employees are what make this 5star. 2nd time we’ve stayed here, we were kept entertained last time but felt safe. The only thing I would recommend would be to watch your elbows in the shower stall- the soap bar holder got me everytime during both visits! Would return
1. Location 5+
2. Parking lot 5
3. Indoors 5
4. Staff 5
5. Breakfast 5+
Total: 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Really convenient location. 5 minute to the wonderful beach and near the I5. But really quiet place if you traveling with children. Friendly staff. And super breakfast. We had a fun there.
If you like a firm bed, and don't mind road noise, you will like this hotel. That said, as long as the in-room air conditioner is running, you don't hear the road noise. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Coffee and breakfast were good.
This is one of my favorite places to stay when I’m in the area.
The rooms are spacious. The staff is always friendly. It’s clean and safe.
I accidentally booked this hotel when I meant to book a different hotel closer to my destination in San Diego. I cancelled well in advance of my stay and they are refusing to issue a refund. I’ve never experienced anything like this by a hotel. The management was condescending and completely unhelpful.
And as you see in the additional comments - continually condescending and an unwillingness to help a customer resolve their issue. If you take someone money and deposit it into your account and don’t provide a service - that is stealing.
A big improvement than staying in the hotel circle. Never thought of staying in Del Mar before. It's better than the rat race in San Diego. Will be coming back.
Unbelievable bad experience! The smell of chemical in the room, elevator and hallway and how bad they treated us at the fron desk. The supervisor came late but the front desk person was extremely rude and unprofessional. After politely I brought up a concern he started arguing with me and repeatedly said the same sentence aggressively which made his supervisor to stop him! She had to hold his hand to stop his aggression. There is surprise charges when you book from third party and they charge yoir credit card upon your arrival. The room and the elevator smells like a dead mouse and the rooms smells very strange. When I politely and kindly asked for the manager they said we dont have managers on the weekends! So I couldn’t even talk to someone about my converns. I had to leave because of the smell bad service extra charges and the rudness of the guy in the front desk and even though it was all from their end they charged my credit card $300. Repeatedly said the same words. Such an unpleasant experience after driving 7 hours to get here. I wouldn’t recommend this place to any of my friends and family.
For $250 a night you would expect a much better hotel room. This hotel is somewhat outdated and old. Has a 1 star vibe to it. Breakfast is mediocre at best. Much lower quality than you would expect from a Hilton hotel, at that price level.
We were able to check-in before 3PM, the receptionists are super cool and the location is like 5 mins tops from the Torrey Pines State Beach, I've had the best experience with this hotel. The breakfast was also yummy and the hotel team members are very nice to everyone. Either you have family trip or business trip, book in this hotel, they're awesome!
Great hotel. Always a nice stay. Includes a free breakfast. I like the gated parking garage, however the sensor to open the gate from the outside is in an inconvenient spot. You have to exit your vehicle to get to the card scanner or do a u turn in the parking lot to come up on the one side where the card scanner is.
