Handlery Hotel San Diego reviews
17 We came here for 3 nights to watch baseball. The room we were in was the king premier overlooking the pool in the mission Valley building.
The room is very large with a large balcony but a small bathroom which was fine with us.
The staff were very friendly and helped out with everything that we needed.
Pool was great and the poolside bar was decent also. No more expensive than anywhere else around here.
We ended up staying another night because of how Comfortable the stay was.
Ac worked perfectly and because of the style of hotel, you didn't hear much from your neighbour's.
I will 100% stay here again if we are here.
People that complain about the hotel being stuffy have never stayed in san diego before. And carrying your luggage up 10 steps, it's more than doable.
Wifi was amazing also. This is a major thing.
This hotel exceded our expectations.
I specifically put they do not disturb sign on my door and the maids enter the room anyway and cleaned it while I was out not cool.
Bathrooms slightly outdated, and rooms a little small but I really we had a nice stay. The best part was the pool and tiki bar. There is a restaurant, but it doesn't serve anything but breakfast so you have to rely on ordering from the limited menu from tiki bar for our whole stay. The grounds are very well kept and have a tropical feel. We stayed in a room with a patio, highly recommend, since that helped with the small room size. Beds were comfy as well. Air conditioner could have been a little cooler, felt like a swamp cooler but could have been humidity. I really we had a nice stay and the staff at the tiki bar is great
Expensive for an old hotel. Stairs with no elevator and no free breakfast. Our safe failed half way through the week. No convienence store near by and nothing sold in hotel
The Handlery hotel is SOOO very wrong in charging their customers an additional $18 PER NIGHT fee for parking. This is their very own parking lot folks! Plus the rooms do not have a small microwave to heat anything up! Come on! The hotel is located right next to the freeway, so if you don't mind the noise.
The kudo I can give them is the rooms are clean.
From the pictures, I thought it would be a good hotel. But nope. It is more like a notch above Motel 6.
Great place to stay. Has everything you need. Kid friendly. Staff were nice and helpful. Can't wait to go back and visit san diego again.
I made a reservation for tonight via Priceline 3 days ago. I show up at check-in with my confirmed reservation and they tell me that they overbooked. The manager "Ben" took no ownership over the issue and blamed Priceline. Don't expect exceptional service here. You also can't expect the room you paid for days ahead of time either.
The front desk people were very nice, helpful, and welcoming. However, they don’t tell you what they’re going to charge you until your last night and they slide the paper under the doors. The pool water was very salty. All in all, nice hotel but something’s can be better. Good hotel if you just need to sleep and shower & hit the road again, but wouldn’t recommend if you’re going to stay longer.
Hard beds, outdated bathroom but overall for the price and location can't complain. Really large pool. Need add more tables with shades around it though.
Rooms need a good cleaning, and maybe a remodel, kinda dated. It would be nice also if the hair salon girl wasn't clearly trying to pick up my boyfriend, trashy!
Great location it's near just about everything I wanted to do. The staff was amazing. Lupe makes the best margaritas.
The worst customer service and lack of human decency! We made our reservation through Priceline. After a long fun day at sea world we tried to check in and get told they don't actually have a room for us. The woman was so rude and told us it was our problem with the third party reservation service. Priceline never received any information from them. The hotel also had our contact info and never reached out just wrote our names (and several others) on a sheet of paper to tell us there were no rooms left when we're arrived. We had to find out at 11pm when we showed up with three tired kids. The staff child have cared less.
Our experience at the Handlery Hotel was only okay. The receptionist was awesome, no notes on her. But the room itself left something to be desired. The walls are kind of thin so it's easy to hear what's going on outside and in the halls. The air conditioner was a bit loud every time it turned on. The worst part was definitely the bathroom though. The shampoo/body wash and conditioner bottles were nowhere near full, so we ended up having to use products we bought. And the coup de grace was all the hair in the shower drain, as if it hadn't been properly cleaned in weeks. Also as a side note, $18 for parking is absolutely ridiculous, especially when it doesn't seem like anyone was keeping an eye on the lot for anyone who shouldn't be there anyway. We probably wouldn't go back and are thankful we were only there for one night.
I feel like we've been had. The hotel looks gorgeous on the website, then you pull up and have to carry your luggage up the stairs, and it's a motel, NOT a hotel like we were led to believe. Desperately needs an update. It feels very old.
There is a small fridge hidden under the bedside table and plenty of outlets. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well.
It was clean when we checked in, but the room was not set up before we got there. The air was very stuffy. The air conditioning worked well once we got it going.
We arrived very late and there was plenty of parking, which you do have to pay $18 for.
Good location, 10 minutes from the zoo. Probably wouldn't stay here again. That was some shady advertising.
The toilet paper roll was awkwardly close and bumps right up against your leg. Also was woken up by the linen delivery truck and we could also hear the vending machine near our room. No continental breakfast, there are restaurants in the hotel instead, we went elsewhere for cheaper food.
Amazing rooms and very big pool. I like how they have spa and massage. Very relaxing after long trips. The rooms very big, they have iron and hair dryer. Love their hair dryer, it dried my thick haid within minutes.
Overall decent rooms, pleasent ambience, nothing wrong with the nights spent there, and the staff is very friendly.
