Hanover Soma West, San Francisco CA

The property looks great. So many amenities and the staff is so nice. I would highly recommend Sydney. She is the one that has given me the best experience. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the floor plans and rates and the area. She went above and beyond to make my entire family feel at home and found solutions to all our concerns. She is amazing at what she does.

I had the pleasure of touring Hanover Soma West with Sydney, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. She provided outstanding service, going above and beyond to help me find my potential new home. She was incredibly thorough in understanding my needs and preferences, ensuring that I'd find the perfect fit.

She patiently showed me a variety of floorplans, accommodating my curiosity and giving me a comprehensive look at what the property had to offer. We explored all the amenities, and I was genuinely impressed by what the place had in store.
What truly stood out was Sydney’s personality. She was professional, personable, and an all-around wonderful ambassador for the property. It's rare to come across someone who not only knows their job inside and out but also makes you feel genuinely welcome. Sydney’s charm and expertise was a breath of fresh air.

If you're planning a visit to the property, I wholeheartedly recommend connecting with Sydney.

Your mail WILL get stolen here, and the management will do nothing to curtail the problem. So far, I've lost almost $1000 worth of stolen packages. The trash shut is almost always unavailable, and emptied delivery boxes will always remain piled up, to the point of sometimes blocking the garage elevator. Never take a chance at night (or other vulnerable parts of the day) to try to access entry into the building through side entrances, more than likely the doors will be out of order.

Toured here with Chervonna she was very helpful, knowledgeable helped me understand pricing. The property is nice definitely will consider leasing.

Absolutely gorgeous we were just shown around by the amazing Sydney, showed us everything and now ready to start the application and move in!

Seriously can’t recommend this apartment complex enough! Sydney and Garland helped make the entire moving process so smooth, simple, and understandable from the tour process to the paperwork to moving and living here. 11/10.couldn’t be happier with this new living space:) 6/5 stars and the amenities and rooftop patio view are to die for.feels like a dream it’s so surreal!

Toured this building and I have to say I love the layout and amenities options. I checked out the one bedroom and it was really nice, appliances are modern and it was a good size. I spoke with Taylor in the office and she explained the process to me and gave helpful information. The other worker who gave me the tour was also super sweet and helpful! Can’t wait to apply to this building!

It’s been a couple months since I moved in at Hanover and while the amenities are excellent, one of the biggest issues I am facing is that the building is not sound proof. I’m not sensitive to noise but the walls are so thin that it’s nearly impossible for me to sleep when anybody’s even walking in the living room. It’s terrible.
The other issue is the package room. They have sorted every floor’s package on different shelves and you just browse through every single person’s packages to find yours. They should really install lockers for individual packages like most buildings do.

Overall - I do recommend this complex. I find it comfortable, modern, central to all SF. The maintenance staff is one of the best elements of this complex - 10/10 great service. They truly care and work HARD. Super quick response times, and they always take the time to address needs. There are a lot of really awesome amenities, which is what drew me in originally to want to live here. The rooftop on a nice day is immaculate.

The leasing office changes frequently, so its hard to build relationships - but typically new employees come in with a positive attitude and a willingness to help.

A few things to be aware of - trash is a constant issue - the shoot tends to be unavailable often. The mail room can get messy - I often have to search and keep tabs on my packages because carriers don't always scan. They used to have someone sorting the room, not sure if that's still a consistent thing but was very helpful. The SF homeless problem is extremely evident in this neighborhood and should be considered as a female or if you have a pet you need to walk every day. Lastly, the walls do feel a bit thin - I tend to hear a lot of activity from neighbors, but that is to be expected living in an apartment complex.

All in all - I do enjoy living here, even with the quirks.

The soundproofing is so bad that when the person upstairs walks by, the entire building is shaking. You can not only hear the footsteps but also the wood cracking sound every time as if the building is going to fall apart. Definitely keep away from this place/ higher floor if you want to have a quiet living space. The building quality is just so bad.

There are many fake 5 stars from the people who just have a tour but never lived here, kind of misleading.

I came here for a tour with the help of Mirna Monreal. She is very helpful and personable. She took her sweet time to show us multiple units and layouts to see which would fit best with our living and budget. We ended signing a 15 month lease here and do not regret it at all thanks to Mirna. The staff is always walking around and greeting people and also nice and helpful when I have any questions or concerns. Highly recommended.

Hanover is amazing. Best apartment in the city, I’ve been in SF for 8 years and have not found a better place, no place has a better front desk / tenant services. Mirna is awesome and always answers our questions / helpful with a positive attitude! The amenities are great and we also got a discount because we locked in our lease early (around March / April) before the summer rush! Can’t say enough positive things!

I've lived in many places in SF and rented from various landlords (by owner, small/medium/large management cooperates). I can say that Hanover Soma West is definitely the best one. I moved in when they first opened in 2021 and lived there for 2 years. The only reason we left is because we have a baby, so it's time to move into a house. If you're reading this but haven't toured the place yet, you wouldn't want to miss out. If you're reading this because you just went on a tour but are still deciding, let me share my experiences with you.

*The staffs
You'll be in the good hands of a truly professional team here. Hanover has done something right to be able to find talent and have them bring their A-game to work every day. I've interacted with several of them, including Careena, Chelsie, Kat, Chris, and Mirna. I was used to property staff who didn't even bother to say hi after I signed the lease. However, the team at Hanover was absolutely wonderful to me from day one until the day my lease ended

Mirna was the one I worked with the most, and she's absolutely a rock star. I had to report a noise complaint once, and Mirna made sure to follow up with me to ensure everything had been resolved. Right after my daughter was born, she noticed the new arrival and brought us a very thoughtful baby gift box with a handwritten congratulatory note to our door! And Mirna, if you see this, I noticed that every time I ran into you in the morning, you always said, 'Have a good day at work. ' It might be a small thing, but it made a big difference in how I perceive your hospitality.

*The amenities
The property is beautiful, well-designed, and brand-new. The most important thing is that all the amenities are practically useful.
- Many people work from the shared space in the lobby area. Yes, the Wi-Fi is strong, so you can definitely take Zoom meetings with an awesome atmosphere in the background.
- The gym offers a great variety of equipment, and it's open 24 hours. You won't feel uneasy late at night because they have security on patrol.
- I can't not mention the rooftop. The view is amazing, the furniture is comfortable, and you can invite guests for a BBQ party or game day.
- The jumbotron is really fun during a big sports game. Residents and guests gather with a nice and welcoming community vibe.

*The safety
If you have been to the place, you already know it's basically a maze. You need to have a fob for the elevator and also to go through some interior entrances. I never have to worry about breaking in. I also rented a parking garage and storage, and nothing has ever happened to my belongings. My friends visit me often and street park on Harrison; despite how SF is notorious for car break-ins, it didn't happen to any of my guests.

*The location
To be honest, SoMa got some spillover from the Tenderloin, so I'd say get yourself familiar with the area, and you will be okay. It's actually super convenient to hop on the freeway. It's walkable to Trader Joe's, Harvest Urban Market, Whole Foods, and Costco. Here are a few local owner places that are within walking distance, and I highly recommend them:
- Coffee shop: Cafe Suspiro, Sextant, Dento
- Food: Basil Thai, Rocco's, Deli Board
- Bar: Rumors, Bloodhound, Decant, Raven
- Corner store: Welcome supermarket, Diana Market

Overall, I had an awesome time here. The price is on the higher side, so if you're comfortable spending a little extra, it's definitely worth it!

Hanover Company is not registered with the state of California and cannot do business here. The building’s owner 1140 Harrison Associates conducted a fraud and scam. The lease agreement between residents and 1140 Harrison Associates is invalid and not enforceable by law because it wasn't signed by an authorized agent.  Chris Foley is an employee of Hanover company who signs the lease. But his employer Hanover company is not registered to do business in California. They are not an authorized agent of 1140 Harrison Associates LP. This is a fraud and scam. They need to be reported to the authorities.

I’ve lived at Hanover for a little over an year and a half. Didn’t have major problems up until this point. Mirna was my leasing agent initially and she was helpful and kind.

This property has a sewage leak problem (been the case for a few months now) and because they had not taken care of the leakage, it finally hit its breaking point and there’s sewage in the garage /basement with puddles of sewage water and particles floating in it. Sewage water is a bio hazard. I followed up 4x since the major leakage happened with the office ignoring my calls and requests in the resident portal. One of their staff tried to gaslight me and say that “sewage is not toxic”.

It smells (still does). Highly DO NOT recommend living here until this property turns this issue around and also their ability to respond to their residents in a timely manner with a helpful and non condescending tone.

The five star reviews they are pushing people to do but most of them are from tours only and not actual residents.
