Hapi Sushi of Laguna reviews
13This was a great place to eat at! It’s owned by a bubbly Japanese man who speaks a little English. The fish was very fresh and the prices were reasonable!
Top quality, and delicious preparation. The fish here is incredibly fresh, among the best I've had these years. You can discern the quality in their tuna especially.
It's a very cozy place. The owner and chef was an extremely likeable man. The food, both main courses and starters, were really delicious. A clear recommendation. Next time we are in Laguna Beach we will definitely come back.
Some of the best sushi we have ever eaten served by attentive, professional staff and chef.
We've been eating at Hapi Sushi for 20 years and recently returned for a visit. We ate there twice over a long weekend and both times it was delicious. Everyone working there was friendly and the service was excellent. A definite little gem in Laguna Beach.
The California roll, Philadelphia roll, and 96 special roll were all quality rolls to order!
Hapi Sushi is a long standing favorite of mine. I've been going here for years. Best Sushi within miles.
Always fresh, well cut, and an explosion of taste in your mouth like Sushi Should be.
They also have Quail Eggs, a favorite of mine whatever sushi bar I'm at I ask for them. Quail egg is especially good in Sapporo Japanese Beer. Try it. Ask chef to put one in Small glass of beer, drink and eat the small quail egg yolk at the bottom. I usually have about 3 or four during my meal. Hapi Sushi is Happy Sushi.
It was just amazing. One of the best place of sushi that I’ve been, it’s really worth it and it’s a pity people don’t know it. EXCELLENT I love it and hope it comes more popular as it should. The waitress are really nice and kind, and the chefs’ food was really cheap compared to its quality. I’m just really happy.
The food here was not very good. At first glance, the sushi rolls did not look appetizing at all. They actually tasted slightly better than they looked. The other downside was that the rolls were all very small. We had to order way more than we usually do in order to feel full. The service wasn’t bad. The inside and bathroom looked like they could use a good cleaning. I won’t be returning any time soon. You can find way better sushi around OC than this.
Happened upon this little hole-in-the-wall.best sushi we've ever had! Highly recommend!
All the food waa great! Calamari was fantastic and since it was my son's 21st bday, they gave him a coffee cake that was frickin to die for!
Been going here since 1984. One of my all time favorites. And while Sato is no longer there, and had passed/sold it to who his long time bus boy, Mario just as COVID hit, they have done an amazing job to retain the atmosphere and keep the vibe alive. Definitely not the same without Sato, but Mario and his family have done an incredible job to keep it afloat and now seems to be regaining some momentum. We went there on NYE and had a great night watching football and enjoyed an excellent meal! Tim and Toshi are the sushi chefs and are top notch, and prices still very reasonable. Give it a shot!
The sushi was averageish, but we had to send back a roll because of a giant hair in it (check out the picture). They barely even acknowledged it. They just took it without a word and brought a new one ten minutes or so later. It would have been nice if they'd apologized or offered any sort of discount? Also they never brought us napkins.
