Happy Puppy Grooming & Self Dog Wash, Whittier CA

My most recent visit here was quite disappointing. I did call in advance to see if they would take my elderly dog and they did. When they give her back to me she could barely stand up and was disoriented the rest of the day.

I know my dog is old and difficult which is why I called in advance. If they were having issues they could have simply called me to go and pick her up. Instead they charged me $20 extra than they usually do and I had to get medication from the vet since my dog could barely stand.

Very disappointed. We just started to bring our dogs here. The cages they put the dogs in look dirty, staff are rude and have horrible attitudes. You can see that they do not take care of the dogs. Both times we dropped off our dogs they did not come back with their collars. When you try to call they never answer their phone. When we made a comment about the dogs collars missing both times, their response was well maybe you shouldn’t bring them in with it. There is literally a tub filled with all of the collars and leashes left there. I’ve never experienced this anywhere else. At least take pride in your work and have respect for people’s animals and their belongings….

From what I saw, “Happy Puppy” couldn’t be further from the truth. Beware if you decide to groom your dog here, especially if you leave during the service and have no idea how your dog is getting treated while in the salon. It’s awesome that they look and smell great when they come out - but have they been traumatized in the process?

We went in for a self-wash about a month ago and what we saw in the back of the salon was alarming. Not only was the place dirty and unsanitary, but the staff treated the dogs like they didn’t care for their well-being at all. It starts with them getting caged right upon arrival - and then it just gets worse. We were desperate to get our dog washed, so we stayed, but only for as long as it took to wash and towel-dry her. During that time, we saw a few dogs getting washed and dried by the staff.

One small dog was anxious while being dried, screaming and climbing the tiled walls in panic (no kidding!) ; instead of stopping the dryer and trying to calm the dog down, the groomer simply kept following the dog up the wall and all along the little cubicle with the dryer, with no care in the world. The dog’s screams were so loud that even our own pup, who tends to whine and squirm while getting her baths, stayed perfectly still in shock.

Stay away from this place if you can - there are much better, cage-free and truly caring grooming salons to choose from.

This has been my grooming spot for almost 2 years all the workers here are awesome and treat my 2 Pomeranians like vip. They always come out looking beautiful and joyful.
I know my girls are a handful but the groomers are always very patient with them. I’ve never had any problems on the contrary they are always nice and take me 2 pups even without an appointment.my girls are always excited to go in the shop so that only means they’re being treated nicely and it shows ️
