5Lots of trails in the park but lots of loose pebbles so it's not that comfortable to walk, though not dangerous. Lovely views of the River and pond
This is a nice area to have a good view of the river. It also connects to the walking/biking trail that will take you through William B. Ponds and to the footbridge if you walk for a mile. Very rocky area at the river so please make sure you have good shoes.
Beautiful access to American River. Good for fishing, bird watching, and the river views are amazing.
Kids love to go fishing here and it’s less crowded then other spots nearby. Very convenient since it’s close by. Trails aren’t the best option but it’s fine.
A popular place to fish for Shad during the Spring run, as is Gristmill across the river, due to a choke point that concentrates them. You'll know the time when the parking lot is full, and many fisherman in a line with waders. Fast current, so need to keep reeling in your cork and casting again, and not tangling with others. Some youtubes. I've tried, with people on left and right catching a big shad, but no luck. Just as well since tricky to cook and eat them (tiny bones like carp).
