Heaps Peak Arboretum Day Use Area reviews
21An easy path takes you on a self guided tour that culminates at a grove of Sequoias. Yes, Giant Sequoias grow in a few select spots in Southern California. These trees were planted after a fire in the 1930s. Imagine them in a thousand years.
Very nice place to take a walk alone or with the kiddos. Not very long, but nice to get out of the house and enjoy the wonderful mountain fresh air. If you enjoy nature, tree's and plants, then you'll enjoy this trail. Only $5.00 for parking. But you should get there before 3pm to get a pass till the next day before 10am.
Beautiful place to learn, get out on nature, and get some fresh air and exercise. You need a parking pass, and it costs $5 for 1 day. Pay in cash unless your transaction is $10 or more.
Beautiful hike with interpretive map and animal tracks cast in concrete sidewalk. Great for kids. Forest adventure pass required to park in lot.
Nice walk through the woods. Not very long, but the interpretive walk is best taken nice and slow. Saw many types of animals, birds, insects and flowers in bloom. Good for groups with younger kids or slower moving folks as it's tame and well maintained.
Adventure pass needed, so if you are going and don't have a yearly pass I'd recommend finding another trail or two to do on the same day pass.
Have fun!
Nice place for a short hike. We follow the loop trail, I think it's about a mile. There isn't always someone there to collect the fee and the $5 seems a bit steep for what's available. We've also hiked there several times without paying when no one's at the booth and haven't had any problems.the smell of the bathrooms is horrendous, even when taking into account the type of toliets they are.
What a great little Park. The signs are informative and the trail is very easy to manage. You see a lot in a short. Of time
Beautiful trail. Still had some snow in mid Winter. Need to go back in spring when the flowers bloom since we didn't see any at the time we went.
Short, easy hike right off the highway with plenty of parking. There is a restroom and water fountain, as well as a ranger station to check in at for info. You will need a forest service adventure pass to park, which you can get at local outdoor stores or gas station.
I gave it 4 stars because the bathrooms were unkempt and filthy. Otherwise beautify park/nature:)
This was an awesome spot. We were their during winter holidays and there were lots of snow. For $5 parking cost you get to walk around trails covered in snow and take in the scenery. Then, if you brought your own sleds, go snow sledding on many hills around. Kids said this was better than tubing!
We went on a day when there was intense ice on the ground. A small portion of the path was extremely dangerous to pass, but we were all determined to continue on without turning back. With teamwork, we all made it through safely. It was really fun!
It was very cold and breezy the day we went. We hit snow and ice halfway through and had to turn back. We went back to the the cabin, put on snow boots and went back. Glad we did because it is beautiful.
Went on a slow walk with my elderly mom. It was just on the edge of what she could do. Lots of benches. Slopes and inclines were not steep, they were fairly level. Lots of friendly dog walkers. $5 for parking, but a fiver well spent.
I loved walking on the trail here. Such a peaceful and happy place. Easy walking trail for those that can't walk very far like me.
Great trail! It wasn’t too long or too strenuous. Most of the trail was flat except for a small portion with an incline if you enter the trail to the left of the information desk. They give you a map to read about different trees and views on the trail. My kids and I loved it and are going to purchase the annual pass to go often.
Beautiful walking trail with informational signs to make your walk/hike a nice learning experience. On hot days it's got a moderate amount of shade. Beautiful Sequoia trees and wildlife. It's about a mile loop. Not bad at all to get out and stretch your legs. Dog friendly. Don't forget to get your adventure pass to park.
It's nice for a short/nature walk but restrooms aren't kept clean. All restrooms are total messed up.
Great for a short informative walk through the woods. My granddaughters did their hike to earn the Brownie hiking badge:)
Nice, easy path that's great with learners in you group. Even during the winter months, it's a nice easy walk thru the forest.
