Hendy Woods State Park reviews
20AMAZING place! We loved staying in a campground here. My uncle, cousins, me and my dog came here to enjoy some family time. The trees are so magical. The air is crisp and clean. My cousin picked a great spot next to the bathrooms (which are very clean). The showers are amazing. Bring quarters for the shower. The trails are invigorating. The redwoods magical. Watch for the baby deer on the roads driving up here.so gentle and sweet. ️
What a great find.cute little state park tucked in the redwoods just off hwy 128 which is a great drive between hwy 101 and hwy 1. The campground has well placed sites with plenty of room, and all of them under tall redwood trees. Great restroom & shower facilities, and with several ADA sites with paved paths to restrooms for the disabled peeps. $45 per night, but $2 off if you're a senior and 50% off if disabled (with card). Definitely worth the money. Stayed 2 nights. Host personally brought around firewood each night for $8 and its $1.25 for a 5 minute HOT shower.
Beautiful walking trails through the redwoods. It exceeded our expectations.
Dogs can go into the park, but are not allowed on the trails.
A nice state park where you can take an easy stroll through the Redwoods. Wheelchair accessible, picnic tables, bathrooms.
Very nice rangers; would recommend overall.
Wasn't terribly crowded and there were many resources nearby.
The bathrooms were fairly well maintained.
One caveat is that the campsites are quite close together and you can hear everyone's shrieking children and barking dogs.
Terrific campground. Dog friendly. Maybe even too dog friendly, there was a loud dog barking the entire time we were there, kinda wished the host would do something about it. But beautiful sites, good bathrooms, great hikes and a river. Plus close to wineries if you're interested in that!
Visited and camped with a church group that reserved one complete camping loop for multiple families. Great weekend of friends and hiking and food in a campground that is shady nearly all day and a perfect location to beat the heat in the summer. Splashing and swimming is an option down at the very small "river" an we recommend this camp.
This is a wonderful state park full of giant majestic redwoods. Choose to walk the Hendy Wood Grove or swim the Navarro River, no matter what you will be amazed.
Perfect camping as a solo mom with 2 little kids. Enough other families to feel safe but the campsites are such that you don't feel invaded by your neighbors. Hikes are chill and meandering with beautiful scenery and fun stuff to do locally. Close enough to the Bay Area to do a weekend trip without feeling like you spent your whole weekend in the car. Bathrooms are luxurious for camping- hot water, flushing toilets, single rooms, showers.
We had the greatest experience staying at the wildcat campgrounds.views were awesome, campsite was super spacious, and everyone was so friendly.the park rangers even brought treats over to our dogs each day!
Wonderful camp ground hosts. Good amenities such as showers, however the water is only warm. Nice short, easy walks in the redwoods around camp. Place is great for a couple night getaway from the city. Cabins are cute but BASIC. I think there's electrical, double check.
Nice campground. Has decent bathrooms and showers. Sites were spacious, camp fire pits with grates. Easy walking to the nearby redwood groves and river.
Absolutely breathtaking scenery. Clean restrooms and showers, great well maintained campsite and friendly and efficient staff. Camp host was a great resource during our stay. Fantastic place to stay during your visit to the Anderson Valley.
Great little park with two old growth redwood groves. We camped in our trailer on Halloween weekend. It was chilly at 41 degrees in the morning not warming up until 11 or 12 while it was 10 degrees warmer just 5 miles away. The forest is deep and dark but so beautiful. The campground was clean with nice, large sites. Bathrooms and showers were clean and not heavily used during this COVID time. Rangers and camp host were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!
Azalea campground is sweet, quiet and peaceful, with spacious campsites. Friendly camp hosts and rangers alike! Lots to do in the Anderson Valley; great hiking all throughout Hendy Woods.
This place is beautiful. I've been everywhere in California but here. Can't believe I've never been here or even missed it. Lived in California all my life!
Beautiful park! Due to covid, not many people were there. CLEAN restrooms & showers! Little Hendy Woods is spectacular! Will definitely visit again!
It doesn't get any better than this! Perfectly sized sites with a reasonable distance between to ensure privacy. The facilities and staff were exceptional.
I would go back in a heartbeat!
Only spent the night at the campground before moving on (and got in real late at that), but from the camping perspective, a great hidden away location to still enjoy the redwoods! Campsites are well-maintained and the bathrooms and showers (BRING QUARTERS!) were cleaned thoroughly while we were there (COVID-era). Well worth the side-trip and/or short weekend visit!
Hendy Woods State Park is a great little state park with about 6 miles of hiking trails, a large meadow, and a campground. There is a mix of landscapes from from Redwood Groves to oak forests. Worth a visit if on Hwy 128 or near the area and wanting a place to spend the day hiking or a night camping.
