11Our battery died while stopped here for 20 mins. Finally got the windows up before a swarm of mosquitoes came up from the lake. About 30 minutes before sunset. Be careful out there. Love the view!
This is a nice scenic vista on the way to Palomar Observatory at Palomar Mountain. You can see a beautiful view of the lake in its entirety.
If you’ve rode up palomar mountain from the west, riding down the east grade, you’ll enjoy this observation point before reversing course

Please dont litter! Saw wrappers, cigarette butts and metal bottle caps. How could you litter at such a beautiful place? Real good to see lots of water in the lake (February 2023)
Really pretty. I came during winter with absolutely perfect weather. Plus the wind was whipping up. Felt like I was back in Scotland. Plus the drive to it is gorgeous.
This is a great viewpoint with an excellent view of Lake Henshaw below. We enjoyed looking out over the area where we had just driven, and trying to pick out the landmarks we had seen. This valley is deceptively huge - we were pretty sure we should've been able to see the airport below where we had just been watching sailplanes, but we could not make it out. Well worth a quick stop!
Very nice place to go. Ample parking. Then take the E grade (S7) around for a beautiful scenic drive.

Needless to say I have been in several beautiful lake's and rivers, however I must that This place did provide a peaceful moment.
Amazing view from about 1/4 up the way Palomar mountain. My wife and I took our truck for a drive and ended up stopping a few times for photos. This is a long way out of the way, no gas stations, no bathrooms. Some graffiti takes away from the ambiance, but the view is amazing. Feels like the old west.
Easy to reach scenic spot with plenty of parking. Perfect place to have a picnic if you're going out to Borrego Springs!
It's only about a 3 minute detour off of Route 76, so definitely stop by for a beautiful view of the valley, and of Lake Henshaw!
