I have been renting different cars at Folsom Hertz since moving to Folsom (from mid June for 3 months) until I purchased a car. I have only had professional and pleasant experience. Not sure why so many bad reviews. The people at the counter are very nice, sometimes there is a slight wait due to other customers in line. But other than that, had no issues. I had no surprise/hidden charges which is the important thing. I once found some dents in a car I rented a day after I rented. I reported that, they made a note, had no issues and they even offered to give a different car. The staff were professional and helpful.

The gentlemen working behind the counter were friendly and appeared to have no control of anything going on at the facility. When I arrived to pick up my car, the one I reserved wasn’t available. The manager was extremely blasé and unconcerned about this-not apologetic in any way. To be understanding, I went to target and back to allow them time to prepare the vehicle. After coming back, my car still wasn’t ready so they gave me a better vehicle for no extra charge, which I appreciated. On the way to SFO the following morning at 6: 00 AM the rear passenger tire goes extremely flat in a matter of minutes. The ‘roadside assistance’ was not helpful in any way and offered to send someone out to put on the donut for $90. My husband was able to put on the donut himself, but of course, no local hertz would have a replacement and I’d have to stop at Sac International for a new car. We were on the way to an international trip and didn’t have time for that, obviously, so we had to limp the car all the way from Sacramento to SFO on a donut. From what we could tell, this tire already had a hole that they tried to crudely patch and didn’t warn us and then it blew. The maintenance light also came on immediately after, they obviously take terrible care of the vehicles. All in all I was charged $250 to have a rental for ONE NIGHT that ended up being a nightmare. I was then charged $18 a week later due to passing through a toll including a $9.99 ‘convenience fee’ Hertz assesses by paying the toll on your behalf. Are you kidding me? I will never ever ever use Hertz again and still intend to pursue a refund. Just pay the extra money to use Enterprise, this company is a joke and the negative reviews are 100% accurate.

If I could give a zero I would. Rented a car for Tuesday to Tuesday. On my first day of driving the car on our family vacation engine oil light came up and indicator said 5%.
We arrived at our hotel and notified hertz and said money would not be compensated but can give a certificate for my troubles exchanging the car and unable to use the car for a day until car was exchanged. I came back today hoping Anna would keep her word but was informed the "best she could do was $25 certificate" I was appalled as we were unable to travel the first night of our vacation and the wasted the first morning trying to get the car exchanged. Anna is now telling me she said the car was good to go and I never needed to exchange the car. So trying to blame me for exchanging the car when I didn't need to. $25 for spending 4-5 phone calls when the engine light came on and hour plus time spending time with customer service and online and $25 is what my family and myself deserve for all my troubles. Don't ever go here. Service was horrendous and they don't take ownership in anything that happens like an engine oil light being on and making it the responsibility of customers to take care. Avoid Anna. She’ll lie and won’t bay an eye

My wife picked a black tesla model 3 from the sfo 5-star section for our drive home to Folsom. When we got home at 2am, we noticed there was no charge cable in the car. Our schedule return was 9am, and the Folsom manager gave us a very special gift - a $35 fee for not having the equipment or time to charge their vehicle. Thanks very much, Hertz!

The lady here is extremely rude. We went 15 mins late and despite reservation at 12.00 PM she kicks us out.

Had a reservation for 11: 00am that was made several weeks in advance. The car was not ready until 1: 20pm. The attendant Sam, took responsibility and apologized, but that doesn't make up for the mess it made in plans and missed business meeting. The car was way to small, smelled like heavy smoke. Hertz and attendant Sam did nothing to make it right. Do not recommend renting from this location.

We needed a car to go to SFO in the evening so we booked online a week before. When we arrived at the pick up time (10 AM), they informed us that no car was available and asked us to come back 1 hour later. When we come around 11: 30 AM, the front desk said that the car was still not available. However, the helpful lady at the front desk helped to look for another car and we managed to get one an hour later (12: 30 PM). Lucky that we had plenty of time before driving to San Francisco, otherwise, we would be super nervous about catching our plane on time.

I also notice that they don't have dropbox key (unlike other Hertz location). I had to make sure that the office is open to drop off the car - if we were renting or dropping off a car in the future.

As a review, I strongly discourage others from choosing this store based on my personal experience. I had a terrible encounter with them. I made a reservation for an SUV car last Saturday with a scheduled pickup time of 12 pm. Unfortunately, I was not informed that their opening hours were from 9 am to 12 pm. I arrived at the store at 11: 55 am, expecting to pick up my car, but to my dismay, the door was closed.

Inside the store, there was a girl who saw me, but instead of acknowledging my presence or assisting me, she ignored me and quickly disappeared into a room behind the counter, refusing to open the door for me. I assumed she was occupied with something and would return shortly to let me in and provide the car. However, she never came back. I waited for 15 minutes, hoping for some assistance, and eventually resorted to knocking on the door, but still, she did not show up.
This kind of behavior was incredibly rude and unprofessional, leaving me frustrated and disappointed. Given this experience, I will not consider working with this company again in the future.

I used their app to reserve a car only to be refused service even though they had a car for me. My credit card was a couple dollars short of the additional 200 dollar deposit and they would not take a debit card which had the amount plus 500 dollar deposit availablelike their app said they would. The reason? It was less than 24 hours from making reservation. Budget had me out their doorin a car without reservation in 5 mins.

I should have read the reviews, because what happened to Mr. Robert Mills happened to me! ; (; (; (On May 20,2023, I arrived at this Hertz 40 mins early for my 12pm reserved pickup time, stood in line, and waited for my turn to get my car a few minutes past 12pm. And what did they do? They refused to give me a rental car even though they have a lot of cars, claiming that I booked my car online earlier in the morning — even though Hertz corporate website confirmed my reservation, the staff at this location didn’t care… Well, it looks like Folsom Hertz is running Corporate Hertz vs the other way around. And then they said they have to first process reservations made weeks or days before me, and I can wait 7 hours before they close the store to get an update at the end of the day. I explained I needed to drive to SJC airport and that’s why I made a reservation for a 12pm pickup, which was confirmed by Hertz via the app and email… Their reaction? They DID NOT CARE! I had to spend hundreds of dollars trying to get to SJC with a ton of stress and heartburn because of this Hertz… the rest is history! You guys want a taste of what I experienced? Go rent your car at this location, and good luck!

I recommend you don’t place trust in your reservation with Hertz and this location in particular. The staff needs customer service training as well. I reserved a car and when I arrived they did not honor the reservation. I reserved the car to drive to the SFO airport and drop it off there. I’ve been stuck in an unfamiliar town, in a grocery store parking lot for five hours, and am having a family member drive four hours to come pick me up. I’m currently sitting outside the closed Hertz office at dusk, looking at vehicles they could have given to me, and likely asked for an inter-agency switch to honor the reservation.
They said because I arrived one hour and twenty minutes passed the time I marked the reservation for, they gave it to someone else. But, I’m looking at cars right now. This stipulation is probably buried in the fine print. The agent at the counter had a one page print out of this on the top of his desk in large print, for quick retrieval. This is clearly a common occurrence at Hertz. They could have made it work for me, if they had better customer service.

Rented a SUV for my Wife and I’s cross country road trip! Super easy online booking process even better experience arriving and selecting a model. Ana was amazing she knew exactly what my wife and I needed for this long trip. What’s even better is the mirrored amazing experience that followed when returning the suv! Ana made it smooth and simple and smiled the whole time! I won’t ever go to another rental location. 5/5 Stars! Bravo!

Not sure how they do it but they do it well. Small Hertz but they are quite efficient and friendly. They chose to engage with their customers that led to better service overall. They do have a rather small selection of vehicles due to limited space and they recommend booking well in advance for unique vehicles as they have to search inventory across the organization to get it there. They had common makes and models and a few EVs as options.

They have no customer service so if you’re late picking up a car, they’ll give it away and not bother to call you to find out what’s going on and make me walk home

I booked a car at this Hertz location one week ahead. 10 minutes before picking up the car, I received a phone call from them "apologizing that there was no car available". After renting a car from Enterprise in Folsom, I talked with the manager of Hertz Folsom. He apologized and told me to go online to cancel the reservation (although it was Hertz responsibility). He actually cancelled my reservation, but 2 days later I realized that I had been charged for the car. I called Hertz Folsom again, and I have been told that they couldn't do anything, to call Hertz Online Customer Service instead. I managed to talk with the customer service, and I should receive my refund in 24h. This was a terrible and inconvenient experience that could have been handled with more care.
