If you are wanting to experience Omakase, this is the place. I have friends that went to a lesser priced place and didn’t see the value, well…you get what you pay for.
Hidden Fish offers THE BEST fish and the experience is worth it. The fish is brought in from around the world.
You will not be disappointed. They book up quickly for a reason.

My wife and I came here with a reservation for the omakase. The experience was really great and fun. The staff was friendly and informative with the menu and ingredients. Our chef was Steven, and our server was Joshua. We ordered a bottle of sake to drink during the omakase, which went great with everything. Each course the chef served was amazing and delicious. There was not one that we did not like. Even the fish-to-rice ratio was spot on. We even ordered extra at the end of the course. The omakase is pricey, but definitely worth it. We have done quality sushi at the fish markets in Japan, and this was at Japan's quality level. We would definitely come back and do an omakase again.

This isn't my first omakase experience, so maybe this colored my expectations a bit. As a michelin bib gourmand restaurant, there's a certain level of hospitality that I think is the minimum- while the waitstaff was great, the setup with the sushi chefs left much to be desired. We were basically served by 1 chef who didn't take the time to converse with us as we was busy chatting with 2 other guests the entire time. I don't expect to make friends with the chef, but based on other experiences the sushi chefs usually do check in/offer small tips/greetings as they serve.

The sushi itself was good, but I've had better in michelin experiences. All in all, I don't think it's worth the price point- there are other restaurants at this price point that just do everything better.

Hidden Fish truly is a hidden gem. I mean not really but the sushi here was amazing. Also Josh, one of the servers is the best.

Considering the hype I expected an elevated experience. Sushi was ok with subtle understated flavors if flavored at all. Service was attentive and constant. Underwhelming at best

When I was younger I went to sushi buffet but, as you get older quantity over quality becomes more important and taking the time to see the chef at work and enjoying every bite, tasting the fresh seafood was satisfying at a different level. I highly recommend this place.

It is a speedy sushi omakase. Many of the pieces were absolutely delicious. Highlights were Sea Bream, the Toro, the black cod and the salmon. The whole service of 18 pieces occurs in 45 minutes and then you have the opportunity to order additional pieces. The setting is pretty sparse. My only disappointments were a little too much salt on some of the sushi and the hurry up nature of the experience

This was my first Omakase experience and it was amazing! Every piece was created with a carefully crafted palette in mind. The executive chef really dedicates his time to his work and you can tell by the menu list, quality of food, and the team he brought together. Everything was delicious and the wine/beer/sake list paired well with the meal. I would eat here again!
(I included just a few picutres of the items we had).

If you like to pay 3x for nigiri half the size of your thumb then by all means go ahead. Staff is cool, but you are paying manhattan prices in a freaking hole in the wall in convoy. You should not be starving immidately after an 18 course, $135 meal. It's a shame because you can tell the fish is delicious but it is so small that it leaves a lot to be desired. Worth $80 max.

This is hands down the best omakase in San Diego, and I've had omakase at Sushi Ota, Sushi Tadokoro, Matoi, Kokoro, and Himitsu.

They even have engawa! Iykyk

Hidden Fish is the true sushi bar only omakase in San Diego. It's absolutely delicious. The other spots that have a Michelin Star, still have table service with plates of nigiri. That's not omakase. You want a true omakase experience, then you come to Hidden Fish. It's a personal experience where each chef is serving 4-5 people only. It's a fantastic little spot with amazing service, delicious sushi, and a phenomenal experience that you will never forget.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars because it is the best omakase in San Diego. Such a delicious experience I look forward to every couple months. Having been to multiple omakases in NYC and LA - I am so happy to have found one closer to home.

Omakase experience is on par with the experience michelin star spots in San Diego. Staff in knowledgeable and very friendly.

Love that they prioritize the sushi bar experience. If hidden fish added 1 more non-nigiri dish I could see them competing with Soichi and sushi tadokoro.

Very Great quality Omakase experience. The wait service was good but felt a bit overwhelming and maybe a bit too much in your face the whole time. Other than that, you'll eat well

Visiting San Diego from NYC, I had a lot of people suggest this place as a go-to omakase spot in the area. I was not disappointed! As a solo diner, I loved the chill atmosphere and amazing service by both the chefs and staff (shout-out to Jenny (hope I'm getting your name right; girl deserves a raise!) From start to finish, I felt so taken care of even with the smallest of details during my meal.

Each course was thoughtfully prepared in terms of seasoning and placement in the meal course. I've been to my fair share of omakase dinners, and nothing here felt boring or repetitive - each piece was unique and pleasantly flavorful, my favorites being the amberjack with black truffle bits/sea salt, and the golden eye snapper with lemon zest. I can't forget the buttery and melty o toro and amazing yellowtail handroll to finish - absolute perfection. Without a doubt, will be returning whenever I'm back in the area!
