Highland Park Bowl reviews
16 I was excited to check this place out but it was overpriced. $60 for an hour of bowling not including shoes which was an additional $5/person. The lanes did not look well maintained, the bowling balls only came in weights of 10-14lbs.
Overall I had a good time and enjoyed the red sofa seats and the atmosphere but next time I’ll check out another bowling place.
We also ordered the Margherita pizza. I would not order it again.
Do not come here. Not only are their dishes dirty but they are also racist.
I came here, ordered some food and the plate and fry cup they used to serve my food was dirty. They also confused my order and made me wait even longer for my food.
The manager and security there were also being racist towards some hispanic men. They only treat you well if you are white or a colored person who looks “well off”.
Take your business elsewhere.
Great historic bar and bowling alley. We had a company event there. Pizza, calamari and salads were great. Service was attentive and very friendly. Love this place!
Cool old-time vibes and great pizza. I had the one with portabella mushrooms and the one with arugula. Both were good. Liked the portabella one better.
Amazing building, but the bowling seems to be an afterthought. The whole place is amazingly well looked after and decorated, except for everything to do with the bowling. The machines were constantly going wrong, and whilst the staff were happy to try and fix them, we ended up waiting around for more time than we were actually playing for. We got moved onto a new lane after one machine was irreparable. Obviously these are old machines, but plenty of other places manage to maintain them in a reliable working state.
The lanes themselves are also falling apart, theres boards lifting with gaffa tape everywhere. Obviously people don't come here for serious competitive bowling, but even so, the lanes are absolutely ruined and really need replacing. The balls are also chipped there is not a lot of options of fingerhole and weights.
The whole thing cost os 56 dollars for two, which apparently included a discount - this seemed like a hell of a lot to play two games, whilst having to wait 20 minutes twice for machine repairs, with chipped old balls on lanes that were falling to bits.
I think its time Highland Park Bowl spent a bit of money on renovating the main attraction of their business.
Very cool spot, great place for a date. Prices were reasonable and food was good. The Brussels sprouts with fried onion were delicious and the pizza was about standard. The beers on tap had a fair selection.
Wow.this bowling place is a gem.everything is so cool, the pizzas the bar the ambience, awesome, the burlesque show was very elegant and classy, our bartender jahsiah was very nice and got us all time very well attended. I would strongly encourage everyone to have a great time here
I am from Spain, i was there last week and I kept my account open… they have been charging my visa card all week until i had no money left! Avoid this place and NEVER give your card
Industrial feel to interior. The history of the place and area is on display in old bowling league banners and old photos. Room near the front entrance for live music. Bowling lanes are available for groups of up to 6 people at $35 to $70 a lane depending on time of day.
Terrible bowling lanes conditions. Scratched up my ball. Lanes weren't keeping score. Horrible experience.
Asked employee what time they open.
Waited two hours in front of the building, and when they opened. Employee tells me No Minors Alowed. If you see three children going to bowl, why wouldn't you mention that they don't allow children instead of making you wait two hours and telling you as you're going in. Employees With No Common Sense.
Cool old bowling alley and a solid drinks program for a bowling alley but be aware that you usually need a reservation in advance to actually bowl.
Umm you mean experiences, almost daily! I love the community and it's cultures and the respect they all have for one another. Everyone looks out for one another.
The Highland Park Bowl is such a cool place. This old-school original bowling alley, I think since the 1920’s or earlier, is on point. The vintage bowling equipment is fascinating. The drinks are reasonable and tasty and loved the bartenders. Really enjoyable, will be back to bowl!
Ambient lit environment that completely took me in. The wall of mechanical pin resetting was captivating. Lighting design and ethereal look that made for the most visually stunning bowling ever. Great drinks. Wonderful food choices. The best cannoli I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommend for a fun date or gathering of friends. Typically a wait on the lanes so put your name on the list. A bit $$$ but well worth it.
I wouldn't usually describe a bowling alley as beautiful, but Highland Park Bowl isn't your typical bowling alley. It's 100 years old, wonderfully restored, and filled with a ton of old bowling memorabilia. It's fully functional, and the equipment actually works better than that of many modern bowling alleys I've visited. I didn't eat here but the menu looked great and the cocktails were delicious. The staff are friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time, which we certainly did.
