Hilltop Tavern and Inn, Apple Valley CA

I enjoy going to the Hilltop because of the bands they book! The food is mediocre at best. Great access to multiple bars. The stage is pretty awesome! Only part of the seating area is covered so be prepared for whatever the weather is. I always have a great time though! The reasons I am giving a 3 rating is because of the overall experience of the venue. My rating has nothing to do with the bands, those are pretty much all 5

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited. The place is big and they have really done a good job. Well worth a look.

POOR service! Paid for 10 tickets and brought family and friends. LIED ago multiple times about food service for concert. TOLD by several different employees they would open food window at 9. It wasn’t u til 9: 40. Told they had run out of most food but had burgers and fries. After waiting in line for 45 minutes (missing out enjoying the concert) was able to order (I was 2nd in line) and they were out of everything except wings and nachos. No burgers and fries. Waited for nothing! This was my first time here and had a MISERABLE experience! My 10 people were NOT able to eat (along with dozens and dozens of others!) I would NOT recommend this place at all! IF they were honest when we arrived (before music started) we could have ran out and gotten a bit to eat OR ate in their “dining room”. WASTED an evening out AND $125* dollars! I can usually roll with anything, but lied to and wasted a lot of my time where we were not even able to enjoy the music! - do NOT waste your money!

Super fun, bar tenders are super friendly food was pretty good, loved the tribute band they sounded so good!

My brother in-law drove out from Ventura and arrived at 6pm on Friday night to check in to his room. The management (after booking) texted him a combo for his room (for the door) Upon arrival (at 6pm on a Friday night) there was no one working in the hotel. The combo texted previously would not work on the door for the assigned room. My brother in-law (while still at the the hotel property) tried to call and text serval times - the person who provided the combo (I guess management) to tell them the combo was not working. Management NEVER answered the phone. My brother in-law continued to call and text (serval times as the night went on) And he finally got a response (are you ready for this) The ONLY response he got from management was "STILL? " Can you imagine? 1? ! Traveling all the way out and NOT having access to your room 6pm on a Friday night - access to a room that you're booked in for TWO NIGHTS! And that is the only response from management you get is "Still" My brother in-law of course responded "Yes" and then - He never heard back.
At around 9pm my brother in-law called the (other hotel in Apple Valley) The Apple Valley Inn, off Hwy 18 - Someone answered the phone right away, let him know they had an available room. The hotel staff was on site.

The complete disregard for customer service and to ethically do the right thing IS NOT IN THE DISCRIPTION for THE HILL TOP INN. I live local and I'm disgusted that this is how The Hill Top Inn treats out of town travelers. Here is what the Hill Top Inn description should read - "Do you like views and drinking? Great you'll be doing lots of that while you try to figure out how to get in your room or where you'll be staying the night. Do you love to be ghosted and poor customer service? Do you love NOT having access to a room that you paid for or waiting for HOURS for management (to help) who seems careless about customer service and where their PAID guests will be sleeping at? Fantastic this is the hotel for you!
I highly ADVISE TO STAY AWAY- I will not be shocked if new management takes over soon.

Cool place with tons of potential to be a great place but that said, I experienced the absolute worst service I EVER had in ANY restaurant or bar in my entire life! It was as if they have never done this before and didn't have a clue what to do. We arrived @ 6: 30 and weren't able to even order dinner until 7: 45. An hour and 15 minute wait JUST TO ORDER! We asked 5 or 6 people and NO ONE knew what was going on. Once we finally ordered (after standing in line for 25 minutes), we were told they were out of steak and only had ONE prime rib left? REALLY? We bought tickets to this event so you know they had to know how many people to expect but out of steak @ 7: 45? Unfrickenbelievable! We we're then told, come back in about 45 minutes to see if it's ready? WHAT? We are supposed to come back and forth to see if our dinner was ready? Does the term "SERVICE" mean anything to these people? Once we finally received our food @ 8: 30, there were no napkins, silverware, water, salt, pepper, sauce or any assistance to find same. Never saw a waiter or waitress ask us if we wanted ANYTHING the entire time we were there untill 11: 45pm. Severely understaffed and poorly trained. There was one guy named Robert who honestly tried to help and genuinely seemed to care but nobody helped him including the manager who promised to take our order and then we never saw her again. There was also a security guy who was the boyfriend of one of the waitresses who helped us get our dinner or we would STILL be there waiting. To add insult to injury, a sign was posted that read "cash only" at the dinner order window, even though they were accepting cards at the bar? (Epitome of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing). I guess we would have been screwed if we didn't have enough cash to pay for dinner? I asked why and was told they don't have a card machine out there? COME ON NOW with all the myriad of technology, u guys can't figure this one out? I was told that one family left to go to Walmart to get cash. Frickin Ridiculous! The raging incompetence and indifference of the staff and management was truly overwhelming! It's a simple fix to hire a couple of extra professional waiters and replace the manager with someone who will organize the team, train the staff properly and delegate whom to do what. This could be a GREAT place as it has all the assets and ingredients but is currently in total CHAOS! I doubt if anything will change and the Hill-top is destined to be stuck on stupid in the land of mediocrity. Good luck Hilltop, we might come back for a show but we will eat our steak dinner elsewhere.

Excellent outstanding and their entertainment is fantastic I'm extraordinary Tonight they had a band called TLR Who played tribute to the eagles it was awesome I loved them And the food was out of this world it was really really good And good prices and next door they have the Inn Which I am going to stay at in the near future but you need to make reservation for the Inn and you need to make a reservation if you want to stay for the band and get tickets But you need to go about 5: 00 p.m. To eat take your time And then go in and you have your seating if you have tickets But make sure you get up front And I guarantee it's a night you'll remember and have fun

Very comfortable secluded area. The room was very cozy and the housekeeping staff was sensational. I was surprised to get a call after check out saying that I left my wallet behind. I returned the next day to pick it up and it had everything in it still. Glad to see that there are still honest people in the world. A big thank you to your housekeepers. Will definetly be coming back.

We went for breakfast on Saturday June 9th and the food was great. I had chicken fried steak and eggs my wife had eggs and flap jacks. Somebody needs to learn how to make a decent bloody Mary. My wife brought them back to the bar to see if they could doctor them up to no eval. I sent mine back and just had iced tea, it tasted like watered down tomato juice. We've been there many times for dinner and concerts and we will definitely be back for breakfast. You guys have done some awesome things with this place. We've been going there for as long as I can remember

The bands were great! They made the dance floor bigger, which is better then before. The bartender Nate was awesome. Ask him about the pink drink!

Very nice place to get away from the city but close to where you live. Feels like your are definitely out of the state of California, great place to visit and the view is great. I will add a photo of the sunset. If I remember.

Must say for a party or 6 that had a mandatory 20% Gratuity and not able to split our bills, it was horrible service. With only maybe 12 tables max and 4 servers, I was the best server for my table by going up to the bar to get our drinks. Also sad to order 4 different appetizer and only 1 that they’re “making for the night” this is really not a restaurant but more of just a dive bar that try’s to serve food. Beautiful view though! Lol just saying they need help!

Front bar had the slowest male bartender on the planet. Real nice guy just god-awfully slow. Just so you understand exactly how slow I had 5 people total in front of me a group of 2 and a group of 3. Each group only paid with 1 credit card. I waited 45 minutes literally. Other than that the female bartenders by the stage were fast AF and the atmosphere was very good minus the one young guy who got tossed out for some reason. 1 star for the front bar and 5 for the back so I gave the 3 average.
