Really thought it would be nicer based on the area. The room didn't smell bad but the rest of the hotel had that musty smell. It was clean. I think the smell is from older carpet, etc but who knows really.

The hotel was very clean also the location was great. And yes you can hear your neighbors in the other rooms. They also charge you for the parking 12$ a night. Breakfast not free.

Great location for the golf tournament at Torrey Pines. Friendly staff. No shuttle though. Jacuzzi not working, pillows were terrible. The hotel smelled funky. Overall very good for two day stay.

If you’re reading this review: AVOID THIS HILTON HOTEL.

My partner and I were visiting LA from the East Coast and we were excited to spend a couple of days in San Diego. Upon arriving, I tried checking in early, around 1: 30pm. They told me that the room was not ready yet, but that it would be ready shortly and they would call me when I could check in. I returned about an hour later, didn’t find anyone at the front desk, returned to my car, and called. They THEN said that it would be ready around 3: 30 or 4: 00pm. This was already inconvenient, since we had an event planned at 3: 30pm and I would have preferred to freshen up, as one usually does at a hotel after a long day of traveling.

I ended up driving to the event, spent a fun evening with friends, and the whole time we joked about whether or not I had a room ready for me. To my dismay (and frankly, disgust), when I arrived back at the hotel, they had a hard time finding my room. Finally, they found my name and handed me the key card. I opened the door to the immediate stench of a dirty bathroom (a strong fecal smell like that of a bad truck stop), and the sight of a completely unmade bed. Blankets all disheveled, etc.it was clear that even with all of that waiting, no one had ever stepped foot in this room to clean it.

I went up to the front desk and was told that there were no other rooms available. One of the workers went to check on the room to see how bad it was, and the staff was at a complete loss as to how to proceed and what to do. One solution they came up with was a complimentary Coca Cola. Not exactly what I was looking for at the end of the night after waiting hours for a room that was never ready.

Knowing that even if they cleaned the room, they would likely rush through it, I decided to just grab my things and ask for a refund. With all of the recent flight cancellations, it was impossible to find a room anywhere and I was forced to drive back to my family’s house almost two hours away. I expected at least some sort of hotel credit for the complete and utter inconvenience on this trip, which obviously ruined our plans for the whole next day. No such credit was offered. They told me that they would write my name down and that I should expect a call. NO ONE ever called back.

I usually associate the Hilton brand with quality and reliability, but I was met with none of it during this ruined trip to San Diego. I will be sure to deter anyone traveling down south from staying at this location. What a disappointment.

I am a regular customer at the hotel and have dinner at the rest 3-4 per week. The food at the restaurant is good. And the staff service is great.
Management is very responsive, if any issue is brought up.

The hotel's only redeeming quality was that the room was clean. We couldn't use the heat because it hadn't been on in so long. Breakfast food was inedible and the coffee was horrendous. $12 to park outside, why? The icing on the cake was the front desk attendant NOT asking how our stay was. It's almost as if she knew and didn't want to hear it again. Highly disappointed.

Edit. Forgot to add this incredible photo warning car owners about dripping tree sap, and STILL charging the lowest parking rate in Del Mar. Hilton, your response to this review was embarrassing. Really really disappointed. I thought Hilton was a world class brand.

Overall an underwhelming hotel. I stayed here for a business trip. The first two rooms we stayed in had a loud humming noise from their non-stop HVAC. Our third room was finally quiet. The rooms we stayed in were very outdated.old carpet, step in tub with shower, dark. You have to go to another hotel over for the free breakfast, it's nothing to write home about. I won't stay here again. The staff was very friendly and kind.

Fire alarm is malfunctioning - it goes off every morning around 4am. Happened for 4 mornings straight. Short on staff and front desk apparently man two hotels at once, so expect delays. Plainly refused room service citing staff shortage - had to in the end leave trash outside room and had to call requesting trash removal. One staff guy was extremely rude - said that a kid turned off fire alarm one morning. When I pointed alarm going off other two mornings he became defensive and rude - he knew I caught him lying.

Update on 10/4/22: I see canned response below. No one from Hilton bother checking in on what was the issue. I came across their email from couple of weeks ago stating below. So hotel even lied and Hilton thinks issue is resolved - great follow up! Just don't respond, why bother?
"Recently you contacted Hilton with your comments regarding your stay at the Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Del Mar on August 26,2022. We understand that the hotel has been in touch with you and we wanted to make sure that your concerns were resolved to your satisfaction. "

I booked this hotel for 3 days. It’s say on their amenities that parking is free but they charged me for 3 days parking. The wall is very thin that you can heard the people from the other rooms. AC was loud. Breakfast was ok but they’re cleaning sweeping while you’re eating.

I typically don’t write reviews, but the customer service at this location after a horrible air bnb experience was A+. Roberto, Mario, and Marcus went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We were accommodated (VERY last minute check in at 11pm). Our two day stay was perfect. We are very appreciative of all of the work this team put in.

The hotel is currently under covid protocols meaning that they do not clean and replenish the room on a daily basis. This meant that we had to call the House Keeping dept for towels, soaps, coffee, creamer, etc. However, these failed to show up even after repeated requests. I even approached the front desk and made an in-person request to ensure that we were supplied with new set of towers, soaps and coffee supplies but this too failed to have any effect. I finally had to approach a room cleaner lady who was cleaning a room that was just vacated by a guest who had checked out, and I convinced her to help us and provide with what we needed. This is absolutely the worst hotel experience we have had in a long time and certainly not what you expect from a Hilton. We paid premium $$ for our stay (approx $1300 for 4 nights) but didn't look like it was worth it when it came to the service. Hasta La Vista Hilton, never again are we staying with you.

I've stayed at this facility multiple times for business since 2004. Was there in July 2022 and probably had the worst experience ever.the Hotel itself is a convenient location to work, dining, and entertainment. Just be careful to review your bar/food tab before you sign it. Also, if you have status with Hilton, you may want to ask them about any food/beverage credits. Apparently, as a Diamond level memeber i was entitled to a food/beverage credit during my 2 week stay that I was never made aware. Only found out about it when doing my review for Hilton.tried to have on-site staff resolve my double-billed bar tab to two different credit cards, but was told there was nothing they could do. Long story short, review your food/bar tab before you sign it and they close it out!

This is the "sister property" of the Hilton Homewood Suites. This property is our first bad experience as a Hilton Honors member. Since this property and the Hilton Homewood Suites are "the same, " I am commenting on both, as well as, Hilton Honors. The pictures you see are from the Hilton Garden Inn. We saw nothing like what was in the pictures at Hilton Garden Inn, which is where we got a room after being shocked by the Homewood Suites. We have never experienced this before. The Homewood Suites was not pictured on this property because it is shockingly dismal. It destroyed an otherwise fun vacation (Hampton Inn in Buelton, Ca blew this place away).

Nicole, the person who checked us in, initially, gave this property the face of a cheap motel that rents rooms by the hour. Very immature and not sophisticated at all. For $352 a night, this was a step below the Comfort Inn, honestly.

The icing on the cake was Hilton's apology consisting of giving us 3,000 points. No compensation for false advertising, ruining a vacation and creating a problem that needed solving rather than providing an escape from problems for a moment while on vacation. Rather, they used our misfortune as a marketing tool for us to continue booking rooms with Hilton Honors. If you book here for a vacation, unfortunately, I am certain that you will regret it.

Just picking up a friend. Didn't go in.

Edit: if you're wondering why the heck someone would write a review for that, it's because at the time, the Google Opinion Rewards app was giving Google Play Store credit for people to write reviews of places they've been. I don't think they do that anymore. Probably because you end up with reviews like this.

I didn’t actually stay at this hotel, but the staff was incredibly helpful in resolving my booking mistake. I was visiting for an event held at a similarly named hotel in the area. I booked this location by mistake through Priceline. Booking through a third party site like that, it’s incredibly difficult to make changes. Priceline put the staff here through hell, but they were very gracious in handling the situation. They served me, who was canceling my stay so well, I’m sure they’ll be awesome when you do stay there.
