I shouldn't have to pay for parking. I'm a guest. $40 a day. No complementary breakfast. Toast is $8. My breakfast would have cost $78. Barely 3*. If that. 1 vending machine in the parking garbage. Broken

A great location right in front of the studios, possible to walk there.
On the other hand, the hotel deserves a renovation, we had a room in the basement (2nd floor while the lobby is on the 3rd). Swimming pool ok but too few deckchairs for the capacity of the hotel.
Home not super friendly.
Breakfast not tested because overpriced.
The restaurant team, on the other hand, is very nice, especially the bartender.

To say I'm disappointed in this hotel would be an understatement. I am a frequent traveler and stay at Hilton properties whenever possible - there is a certain level of quality that you expect when staying at a Hilton hotel, and this one fell far below expectations. We stayed at this location for two nights in a corner suite with one king bed and a sofa bed; the room said it could accommodate 4 people. While it suited our family (2 adults and 2 children), I do not believe the room would have comfortably fit four adults.

I'll start with the pros: this hotel is conveniently located near Universal Studios. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the park and there is a free shuttle available. Hotel parking is easily accessible. Check-in was a breeze and the receptionist gave us free bottles of water which was nice. There is a convenient filtrated water system in the hotel lobby to refill water bottles.

Now for the downsides, of which there were numerous. The room we were given was on the second floor immediately below the lobby. I'm not sure if it was the location of the room or the AC (which barely worked and never got around to completely cooling off the room), but there was a persistant knocking sound coming from the ceiling that never went away. There was obvious mold in the bathroom sink. The pull out sofa bed mattress had an uncomfortable dip in the middle. There was no comforter or pillows for the sofa bed, but I did find a (very scratchy) blanket in the closet and used two of the pillows from the king bed. The pillows felt like they were made of bricks, all of us woke up with sore necks.

The hotel had two restaurants. The dinner buffet was $139 per person which is absurd. We ended up ordering off the menu at the bar area. It was not busy however there were several tables covered in dirty dishes that did not get bussed/cleaned the entire time we sat there. No one acknowledged us when we were looking for a table; we found a table by the window that was cleaned of dishes but hadn't been wiped down. The cloth napkins had large obvious stains. The silverware was dirty. My son was served water in a glass that had not been cleaned, there were obvious food stains inside the cup. The food was subpar, my husband ordered a Caeser salad that did not have dressing on it and I had the Hilton club sandwich with soggy bread and wilted/brown lettuce. The waitress was pleasant and the service was fine. The total bill came to approximately $130 with tip.

Self-parking is convenient but at $40 a day, it is very pricy. You do get in/out access for that price and can keep your car there until 6pm on check-out day without getting charged extra.

They have a large pool area with a hot tub. There are free pool towels which is nice and there was plenty of places to sit. However, the hot tub stairs/ledges were coated in green algae and the pool was similarly dirty.

We were informed that we could not use our Hilton rewards as we booked thru Capital One, which was annoying but not a huge deal. I thought the staff I interacted with was friendly, however I did witness one very rude front staff clerk talking dismissively/down to a man who accidentally used the word room service instead of housekeeping. You have to request cleaning so we did not use the housekeeping services.

Overall, this was a really disappointing experience and I'm surprised considering the reviews I read ahead of time. We'll stay somewhere else when we come back to Universal Studios later this year.

This hotel is excellent! Clean. Fast service. Everything is easily accessible. Our room on the 11th floor was spacious and had an amazing view. Shower was so relaxing and has many options. Bed was comfortable and pillows were soft. Plenty of spots to charge cell phones, tablets, and laptops! WiFi service is solid, fast, and stable. Rooms have a small fridge, iron, coffee maker, plenty of towels, a small safe for any of your valuables, and hangers for at least a week stay. The conference rooms for business travelers are big and spacious. The City Walk/Universal Studios is less than 10 minutes away. Pool on the ground floor is not too big but never crowded. We recommend this Hilton!

As usual in this kind of establishment: very nice infrastructure but no humanity. You need help? Get over it.

We stayed for 5 days, and had so much fun in LA. Carlos checked us in, and made us feel valued, and got us the nicest room he could find, with a Universal view. Any time we had issues, the front desk staff saw to it immediately, and did their absolute best. The room was clean, organized, and very spacious. It's an 8 minute walk to Universal, but, they have a shuttle that runs every 15-20ish minutes. There's a gift shop by the elevators with the nicest ladies, and everything was reasonably priced.

Here's why i give 4 stars: While the room was amazing, and the front desk staff made it worthwhile, I had a couple issues to address. 1. The TV spazzed out on night 1, and the engineer kinda glanced and said to me "just restart it, " and walked away, never was fixed. The elevators were a little "grindy" between floors, and people crowded like they were at a concert. 2. If you go to eat at 5 on The Hill, be prepared to get rushed, and feel uncomfortable. I spoke with Jesus that morning and wanted to have a sentimental date night dinner with my wife. Once we got there, the hostess looked at us like we were stray dogs, and the waiter quickly poured us water, came back 90 seconds later and practically snatched the menu from us before we had a good look. We ended up eating in the lobby, the potato tacos were DIVINE, and Gretel took wonderful care of us!

All in all, this is a nice hotel, in a great location, with access to the park. I urge everyone to be patient, bring your wallet, and enjoy as best you can. Thank you so much to Carlos, Anthony, Cristina, Khalil (spelling,) Iris, Jesus, Nico, Gretel, and everyone who made our stay enjoyable!

Hilton diamond member. Upgraded to presidential suite. Short 10 min walk to Universal Studios Hollywood. Nice hotel bar to enjoy cocktails and conversation and a bite to eat. Easy keyless entry into my suite. Comfortable room and beautifully designed.

Valets when I came in made a comment about what they could get out of our truck in spanish, which we also speak. They told us we had to valet bc our vehicle was over 6ft tall and didn't have an option to self-park, which is not stated anywhere on the website or during booking. We had to leave, remove all items from the can and lock them in the back before returning. The front desk just disappeared when I walked up for checkin. I had a friend staying on the same floor and asked about how close our rooms where, they brushed me off, told me close enough and continued checking me in. We ended up being on the opposite sides of the floor.
When we got into the room, the carpet was sticky, the bathroom walls had spots on them of something that was able to be wiped off that was pretty gross. I tried to make some tea and the coffee maker kept spitting out water with black flakes in it that looked like they were coming from the machine since they were bigger than coffee grounds. After the third run of it I just gave up. The sink backed up while I was brushing my teeth then very slowly drained for the next 10 minutes.
The only redeeming factor was how sweet the checkout person in the morning was with my daughter.
Overall, I was expecting a MUCH better experience. I'm very disappointed.

Rooms were horrific. We got assigned 217, Service door is across of the hallway. Employees were loud, calling each other, shouting, getting in and out and banging the doors. We asked to be moved and they did move us after some begging. We got moved to 224. Nobody should sleep in that room. It stinks of mold and mildew, it was disgusting, but they said they were full and we did not even ask to move again. We slept in that room and pay $400 for it.

Stayed 2 nights on 8/10. On the first night when I took a shower, I found a hole in the shower room that started to drip cold water. Please come to the counter to confirm the situation around 23: 00, but no one came to see it until the early morning. Mr.is going to take a shower at one o'clock in the morning, but finds that the whole bathroom has been cut off? ! No water available? !

I called again and asked the service staff to come up to check "immediately", and finally came to the room to confirm. The conclusion given to us "The water dripping from the bathtub upstairs can't go upstairs to deal with it in the middle of the night now! "
"The reason for the water outage is that the equipment is being repaired. We will ask someone to restore the water supply immediately, but we have to wait for "few minutes". The inconvenience caused, and we were given breakfast rolls for four people a day as compensation. "

As a result, the water supply time turned out to be 1.5hrs later, and we didn’t have the normal amount of shower water that could be used until almost 3 in the morning⋯ (−_−#)

Worst of all, the bathtub is still dripping from the ceiling today…
We judged for ourselves that the cold water was not the water from the bathtub upstairs, but the cooling drainage of the Air conditional.

This was really, really bad experience.
When taking a shower, the cold water drips down on the body.

Ps. There is no solution at all, and Hilton Hotel has no countermeasures to deal with it, because the rooms are full!

I was lucky enough to book a twin queen room in this hotel using points. The hotel has been fully booked since February 17 (ever since Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios). Clean, spacious and sound proof rooms. Great beds and pillows. Good free WiFi connection. Self-parking is available for $40 per night. Location is excellent for visiting Universal Studios theme park or the City Walk. A free shuttle bus is available from morning till 23: 00 that will take you from the hotel to the theme park and the City Walk. The location of the hotel is perfect for the theme park, however discovering the rest of LA from the hotel is not too difficult by car, taxi or metro. Breakfast is available (buffet or a la carte) at the Cafe Sierra.

This is the first time I've stayed at Universal Hilton. I decided I need a mini staycation and decided to get a room for the night. I was able to pick the room the day before check in because I was using my Hilton Honors App and that app has never let me down. The following day I got a notification that my room was upgraded to have a view of Universal Studios Hollywood. Originally I picked a room looking out to the Hills but was surprised and happy for the room upgrade. So I decided to order room service for the very first time and I will have to say the meal was par on what I expected a Hilton Hotel room service would be and since I've never had room service before and could only go off of what movies and tv shows showed me what room service was like. It was spot on correct. The table came in and rolled between the bed and it was just like in the movies and I was delighted to have this experience that I've never had before. The following morning I went down to have the continental breakfast and have some coffee before I checked out. The food items were nice to see. The only thing I would recommend to the Hotel would be to have some plant based items for the vegetarians and vegans. But besides that I had an amazing time. Sometimes a Staycation is exactly what is needed. I will have to say the Hilton Honors App does do right, is that you can check in and get a digital room key and you can out on the all in the app. Very convenient and relaxing. Thank you Hilton for having the Hilton Honors App.
