HiroNori Craft Ramen (Pasadena) reviews
17 Customers BEWARE!
My boyfriend and I dined here and the ramen was the most average ramen I’ve ever had. I have tried ramen in Japan and this “Michelin” restaurant doesn’t compare. I’ve also tried inexpensive ramen and it has had more flavor than this place.
Also, without a warning, we were charged 16.5% service charge. Our server never mentioned the service charge. I checked the menu afterwards and it’s on there but in the smallest print. I feel this is something that should be communicated before and after and leave it up to the customer, not automatically charge it.
The Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna was simply scumptous and the Tonkotsu was very yummy. Loved it.
Five star for the ramen, 1 star for the service and staff. The staff acted like they didn’t want to be there. The automatic 16% tip certainly didn’t help with the attitudes. I asked for an extra bowl for sharing with my son and hot sauce on the side when I ordered. The ramen got here with minimal wait. It took me at least 10 min of multiple requests to finally get that bowl and another five minute and extra request to get the hot sauce. Get automatic mobile ordering from the table and then you don’t need half of those useless waiters walking around doing nothing for the customers.
This is one of those lazy businesses (with poor oversight) that doesn’t abide by it’s own advertised operating hours. Arrived at 7: 30pm and they said they were no longer taking orders for either to-go or dine-in. The workers stated that “the Google hours are incorrect” but the hours on Google were literally the same as the hours advertised on the front door.
If I want ramen I go here. The tonkotsu broth is very thick and milky. The chashu practically melts away, the egg hardly tastes like egg, it’s almost sweet and it’s marinated so well. My one gripe would be they don’t serve the broth hot enough so the noodles are the one weakness as a result. It’s been a year since I went. Maybe it’s changed. Still, gold standard for ramen in the states.
If you are craving Ramen, this is the only place you should go. I have had delicious Ramen before but this place is the best. Service, quality, and atmosphere were great.
Came here with a BIG group and they skillfully accommodated us and got all our orders out quickly and the ramen was exquisite! Most of our group love ramen and everyone loved this place. Great staff, great food, definitely worth checking out if you like ramen.
First, It’s very cold inside! You might get sick! Second, the hostess was very rude and moody. We came with a little puddle. She did not welcome us! Made us wait and then told us that they are not PET FRIENDLY! Never smile and unprofessional!
I had a nice workday tonkatsu ramen lunch here. The food came to the table fast and was tasty enough. I admit, it's not my favorite, but I would return for a quick workday lunch.with the caveat that I asked for the bill and a box for left overs right when the food came. Although the dining room looks nice, I found the music too loud and the air too cold.
In short,
It’s an ok lunch spot for ramen.
With a fee more details,
Typical Americanized ramen place as soon as you walk in. Great. Clean.
Food was ok. I got the Tonkotsu. Broth was delicious but everything else was ordinary. Mostly noodles and bot much anything with it so spice it up. I don’t think the black garlic was black garlic. And my bowl came without the half egg it promised on the menu. They brought it in after I complained…Spicy Tuna on crispy rice was very delicious so I recommend that if you end up eating here.
Water was infused with lemon and such things so it had seeds and other remnants but I had no clue so at first I assumed there is something in my water.
The lady would was waiting on us, hated her job and needs a lot more training if she wants to keep doing this.
She was impatient for us to choose something knowing very well that I just sat down and don’t even have a menu. She had a bad attitude and it’s like pulling teeth to get napkins, to ask a question, to pay…Now that we arrived at payment, they automatically charge you 16% gratuity without warning or asking, which is a no go for me. That service did not deserve me to pay 16% for it…Maybe that’s part of their problem. Dock her pay and she’ll get it together? Not sure but I’m going elsewhere next time.
Extremely disappointed, crispy chicken over cooked and looks so dark, probably haven't changed the oils for a while. Used to be as great as SD and Santa Fe location, since I haven't been to any of them recently I hope other locations doing ok, but I would definitely won't be back anymore, would tell all my friends, definitely skip this place Service sucks too.
Perfect fast casual Ramen spot. Karage is insanely delicious, reminds me of Japan. Had the dipping ramen and my date got the tonkatsu. Both were delicious. The server told me I was handsome and he's right, so of course I appreciate the honesty.
We enjoy this as much as tatsunoya but always end up here because my wife loves the vegetarian ramen here the best. Plenty of green veggies and great broth. I love the original katsu ramen for the ridiculously rich broth.
Low-key spot with very solid, sometimes inventive, takes on ramen classics. The tonkotsu broth is very rich without being too fatty, and has a nice toasty flavor. The cold tsukemen is very flavorful without being overwhelming, but very strong on the yuzu flavor. Solid sides. The charshitsu is good but not the best I've had; it could stand to be a little fattier and more melt in your mouth.
Great atmosphere, customer service was great. I went back to back days and it did not seize to be inviting and delicious. Anybody who is in the mood for ramen, please swing by this joint!
I got the tonkatsu ramen. The broth here is amazing. It kind of tasted like seolleongtang soup which is a Korean milky beef bone soup, but a pork version of that. The food tasted clean and simple as it should. High quality bowl.
The restaurant is quite spacious inside, given that it’s on a busy street. Service was pretty solid.
The spicy dipping broth ramen was pretty tasty, and the meat was cooked well! However, the tonkatsu ramen's broth had a bit of a sour note to it which was very strange and kinda ruined the soup for it. For the prices that are charged here, I expected a bit more.
