Seafood Restaurant Holbox reviews
17I've been trying to get to Holbox for almost a year. It lived up to everything that was said! The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had. The Pata De Mula (Baja Cali clams) were out of sight. I won't make the mistake of a half order next time! Everything was very fresh and well-prepared. Located in a Mexican food hall so not big on ambience. You come here to eat though, and at Holbox, eat well!
Holbox offers great, fresh Mexican seafood in casual counter service environment.
The menu at Holbox is extensive with a number of options for tacos, tostadas and ceviche featuring kanpachi, scallops, uni, octopus and more. Everything is exceedingly fresh and perfectly prepared. Nothing disappoints!
Service is fast and efficient. Prices are reasonable. It can get pretty busy so arriving early is recommended.
Holbox sits inside a larger food hall/market complex so there is an attached free parking lot.
I hate being one of those people, but Holbox has become too popular! I’m happy for Chef Cetina and the great success he’s having now. Even with a long line and multiple items being sold out, the quality of the food is still amazing and top tier.
Be sure to come early!
We got the whole branzino, several fish, shrimp, and octopus tacos, and the mixed ceviche plate. Outstanding per usual.
I hope when he opens a proper brick and mortar restaurant, the quality will persist! 10/10 again
Holbox is in the promenade with a bunch of other restaurants. But Holbox steals the show. The quality of food is brilliant. There was a long line. It's worth the wait. The fish tacos and ceviche were delicious. We went for a second round of both of them. However, the cherry tomatoes in the tacos are questionable.
This restaurant is delicious! We had the oysters, Baja tacos and the octopus entree. All of the food was delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
Holbox is the perfect place for any type of seafood, the staff was attentive and happy to help. Since this restaurant is located in a food hall type of location the dine in experience was very casual wjich may be an issue to some.
Stumbled upon this place after California Science Center and was stunned at the quality of the fish here. The most incredible ceviche I’ve had and amazing fish & shrimp tacos. 100% planning to come back.
Casual and delicious! Seafood is super fresh and sweet. Definitely great quality. I really recommend the scallops. They were my favorite by far. It’s very casual and a bit pricey for he location they are at but I’ll excuse it for the freshness of the ingredients.
Holbox is an exceptional restaurant for the price.
The food is delicious, plated beautifully and fastidiously prepared. The staff are knowledgeable, courteous and efficient.
We order the seafood stew and 3 types of exotic tacos (one had scallops) and they were all delicious. Halfway through the meal we were planning when we would eat there again. Yeah it was that good.
Halbox lived up to its reputation.
Located inside a food court. There is a small free gated parking lot, but there's also free street parking.
This place is amazing. Super friendly service. All the ingredients are super fresh.
Ordered the mixed ceviche, fish taco, and shrimp taco.
OMG! They're were all extremely flavorful and yummy.
There are so many items on the vast menu that I would like to experience.
Highly recommend. Would definitely be going back again.
Absolutely the best seafood based Mexican food in LA. All the food on the menu is delicious, flavorful and fresh. Reasonable price, generous portions and the staff are very knowledgeable too. We really love this place and it's worth traveling from Santa Monica through the traffic only for the food here.
Hands down our favorite restaurant. We love seafood and Holbox never disappoints. Fresh and flavorful always!
I asked a friend for a recommendation near USC and she recommended Holbox. We came with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible. Very fresh fish and excellent service. I thought the Kanpachi taco was good, but not mind blowing. Highly recommend the ceviche mixto. It’s the closest I’ve had to authentic South American ceviche. The scallop tacos were some of the best tacos I’ve ever tasted. 10/10 recommend.
Everything I've ever had here is Top notch so good makes you close your & pray to God for all them wonderful bursting flavors yes yes talking bout ah truly mind blowing experience this is it barnone hands down pulpo tacos so good make you & so do the fish whether fried/baked you can't go wrong & the ceviche Omg stop it already got me grabbing my car keys Ok! I thought Holbox was simply marvelous where it's famous for octopus served in taco plates.
It was one of the best sea food Mexican place I've had. The aguachile and the ceviche were really good. And the octopus tacos are a must try! I highly recommend visiting.
One of the most memorable meals we have ever had. World class food in un-assuming space. Would be a regular if we lived in LA.
