Hollywood Inn Express South, Los Angeles CA

Told hotel clerk that the room had the smoke detector sealed and cigarette burns in the floor in addition to it smelling like smoke. I was informed it would be looked into the next day but no room change was offered.

Today I see a charge for 50 dollars on my credit card. I called, they said it was for smoking. My entire adult life I’ve never smoked and will be charging back the fraudulent claim that I gave evidence of to the clerk the night of check in. Be careful giving credit card information to this business! And beware the state of the rooms is low.

Do not stay here if you want your trip to not be ruined! They are INFESTED with bed bugs and they won't tell you that. I woke up one morning COVERED in bites all over my body and after a week it's still there itching so much that I'm not able to enjoy my vacation here in California. They won't even refund you, they would rather kick you out like it's your fault they have bed bugs. They were so unapologetic that their property has bed bugs.

Nice hotel. Has a fancy feel to it. Too bad one of the guys in the front likes ripping people off. When I booked it online it was $89 then the next day I couldn't pay with my card, had to be cash and apparently now it was $95.3rd day it was a different guy that you can tell was a little bit nicer and he said $95 again but apparently there was no problem if I paid with my card which made me kinda wonder. So the 4th day it's the other guy and now it's $110 I asked him why and he said the price depends on how booked they are, I was like? But then the 5th day it's $140 because it's the weekend I was like what? ! He had told me that it was gonna be pricier but I thought maybe like $10 not $30. They're lucky that I wasn't ready to checkout point is they should tell you this before you book the room. I had no other choice to keep paying. I didn't want to wait out there in the summer heat till 3 to get a room somewhere else, ugh. In that case I would have gone to the holiday lodge up on 3rd for $85.even on weekends ha. Would have saved me a few bucks. And like I said it's a nice hotel but not worth $140. And I know I was getting ripped off cause I had just seen my friend before paying and she said she paid $100 everyday when she stayed here not too long ago. So yea that pretty much ruined my whole stay. Not cool. Let ppl know that you guys change your price everyday before you rent them a room.

What can I say about the Hollywood Inn Express South.

This small chain Inn is one of three locations.

I've only had the opportunity. Of staying at H. I. Express South most recently and let me tell you. I'm not sure if I would or wouldn't do it again.

Hollywood Inn of Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles resides on Alvarado St just before the intersection of Beverly Blvd. They have a solid nostalgic lobby area for check-in as well as check out or service. The rates are unbeatable without a doubt and the beds are comfortable to say something about them.

It does seem like improvements are being made very gradually overtime to this two star stay. However they're definitely not there yet.

Due to Covid housekeeping/maid service isn't really provided until the end of your trip, however they will bring you fresh towel, toiletries, etc.as needed.

The rooms have a functioning mini fridge only, solid showers and separate sink vanity. The carpets are a bit dated though fairly clean minus a very visible burn mark for an iron the room I had the pleasure of resting in.

The first few rooms just before the slightly elevated parking level (close to the lobby) are probably some of the nicest and most spacious with beautiful wall art of Hollywood and Hollywood stars past.

The pool area is very clean though was rarely used if at all during my three day stay here.

Was the service good? It definitely wasn't terrible.

Was the WiFi great? It definitely was spotty if almost non nonexistent the entire three days here except for when closer to the front half of H. I. E. S.

Was the parking spacious? If by spacious you mean full every single night like clockwork making it impossible to find a space after 10pm. To the point you end up parking a block up the road or in a sectioned off space of the driveway entrance to the Inn to be called early in the morning when parking is free again everyday then yes/.

Dated furniture, vending machines and fixtures aside we did get assistance when needed.which is always a plus.

We weren't able to do any work here with no internet, but were informed the internet was spot and mostly down due to some updates being made however the issue has been going on for over a month.

Other than a harmless spider in our room and those seasonal mosquitos we didn't have any pest problems are some others have mentioned and I'm grateful, but also sorry for any and all who have in the past.

We definitely made do with what we did have versus what we didn't. I do hope they continue to make improvements and know running a business like this is costly, but comfort and care are super essential especially for an Inn.

The hotel looks nicer from the outside. Clean room, but overpriced. No water bottles in the room, not even a jar. They won't clean up the room while you are staying here. No continental breakfast. For this price better go to a hotel that includes at least cookies and a kettle for your morning coffee or tea.

South Central has had great changes. This place is clean. No form of smoking is allowed in any room, unless you and your girl are grinding skin and the hallways smelling like Carne Asada. Very quiet. Pool. A-1 amenities.

I was here in 2006 with my wife. I remember comfortable beds, clean rooms, a good breakfast and a very nice staff.
I live in Italy and unfortunately my wife is no longer with us. Thats why fo or me this place is special place, because I have many good memories with her.who knows maybe I'll come back again som day.thank you "Hollywood Inn Express South"

Nice luxurious setting and most definitely in the correct location many different eateries and theatre and promenade parks and entertainment for a hey gey

Mold on shower knob & wall. Headboard you can tell it has never been cleaned & it’s brown where the bacteria is. Not worth $100. Least they can do with the money they get from each person is actually CLEAN their rooms & not just pick up after them.

From the start the place looked very calm and in general a good place to stay, as soon as we got into the room I noticed a empty coke bag behind the night stand.the edges of the carpet look as if they haven't been cleaned or steamed for year's. I left the place how they left me it dirty tbh about it and still left 13 bucks for a tip idk why! Before we got a chance to leave my cousin started to wake up with bite marks on his leg and chest.he still to this day he still getting bites from bed bugs! People are very good but as far as cleaning service they basically just redo the beds & clean very little as they can!

It’s downtown LA in a quiet place if you’re looking for a good night sleep while visiting this my friends is where you want to go

Had bed bugs. I woke up at 3am to bed bugs. I stayed up til 7am then left. I was told i would get a refund but never did.

Yikes - we only stayed here for one night and it was pretty much the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. When we checked in (less than an hour after check-in time), they told us that even though we booked a room with two beds, they were fully booked and could only give us a room with one bed, and didn’t have any options with a pull out or rolling bed. Then they gave us keys and when we unlocked the door and walked into our room, there was a man who just checked into the same room laying on the bed who yelled at us. They put us in another room that was full of cigarette smoke like the last guest had been chain smoking all night. One of us has asthma so that was rough. The carpets were covered in cigarette burns. The AC was broken and the toilet only flushed half of the time. When we booked, the check out time was 11, they told us it we had to be out at 10: 30, we called in the morning for late check out and they said they could offer us 11 for “late check out”. I wouldn’t stay here, especially if you’re a woman, we worried the whole time that they would give keys to our room to another guest.

Pool is not open and it doesn’t say that on there website that’s the main reason I got it with this hot weather parking spot to short and together my truck already got hit I have a parking spot right infront and there blocked with cones don’t recommend and check out is 1030am not 11am like it says on there website

If you read any negative comments about this place they just copy and paste an apology responding to it. This place is not good in any way from checking in to checking out. Go somewhere else to stay the night somewhere safe and clean with friendly service
