Hollywood Reservoir Trailhead reviews
21Great place to exercise.get close to mother nature.hours varies on open and closure of reservoir.medium parking on weedlake and large on north side.highly recomended.u see the hollywood sign on bridge.
Fun and it was a great day for a walk to remember that nature is still around us.even in the city
Another great place to go for a walk. You can even see the Hollywood sign from here. Parking is so easy and the view is gorgeous.
A great place to bike and walk without any car traffic to contend with. Very wide, not crowded, and if you're lucky, you'll run into (not literally) some deer chilling in the shade.
Minor annoyance: dog owners with their dogs off leash when there are signs everywhere saying "no pets. "
Nice view of the Hollywood Sign. Limited parking at the end of a winding narrow road. Other than at the dam the path is not close to the water. And no shade. There are ports potties in the middle of the hike.
A very enjoyable and peaceful walk I took around the lake, saw alot of wild life really up close. I came across two deers about 6 ft from me very calm, gentle creatures, and the beautiful views around. The park close at 6pm so go early enough its a long walk, run, or a bike ride whatever suits you, enjoy.
It’s ok, nice hike but too much cement for me. From the Hollywood sign I did veer of and go to the Wisdom Tree, that part was really pretty
Hidden between Griffith Park and Runyon Canyon, this less visited trail is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable hike in the Hollywood Hills.
The trail head retreats into the hillside residential area. Parking is available but I always run up there by taking Holly Dr.from Cahuenga Blvd, then mostly just follow the road.
Trailhead gate opens at 6: 30am in the morning and the closing time depends on the season. The trail is a 3.5 mile loop but you can exit about halfway at the North Gate and continue to Universal City. There are porta potties at this entrance.
Nice, flat, easy 3.5 mile paved path perfect for strollers, walking, and jogging with beautiful views of the reservoir and the Hollywood sign.
Love this reservoir BUT my girlfriend's wallet and phone was stolen out of our locked car in broad daylight at 12: 30pm on a Friday afternoon so just be careful of what you leave in your car here.
More of a walk than a hike. You walk along the perimeter of the reservoir on an access road. Some views of the houses and Hollywood sign.
Didn't like that the hike dumps you out onto a busy street with no sidewalk to complete the loop (north/east part of the loop). There is a dirt path along the road. Also didn't like that the reservoir needed a barbed wire fence perimeter and concrete half wall. It would have been a little nicer to have unobstructed views of the water.
Wouldn't do this hike again but it wasn't a bad way to spend an hour either.
Our tour guide took us here for the best view of the Hollywood sign. Did not do the trail, so don't know about that. There is a porta potty available. The road is tight to get up there. No large vehicles. Fair sized parking lot. But Did not see any trash can.
Great 3.5 mile walk/light hike around the reservior. Beautiful views of DTLA and the Hollywood sign. Several clean porta potties along the track. Most of the loop is on a paved access road but there is a section that is gravel beside a busy road so keep your kids close.
Nice walk in the city, away form everything but also close. A bit of a pain to get up to it. The Hype House is directly next to it on your way up if you're into that sort of thing.
No dogs allowed which is pretty lame but I guess there are reasons.
Definitely worth a visit. More of a nice stroll than a hike but you'll definitely get your steps in if you do the whole loop. There is a small dirt lot near the entrance and street parking as well on a narrow street. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and parked on the street without a problem and there were plenty of spots available when we left around 1pm. The path is paved and the Hollywood sign is visible at the beginning. Eventually the paved portion ends and you hook right onto a dirt path in a neighborhood to loop back around to where you parked.
Avoid the Griffith Park crowds and do the reservoir trail instead. Nice hike around the reseryand the easy hike up the sign in quiet neighborhood.
A great place for relaxation and recovery, privacy with nature! Beautiful views, many paths to walk along!) I recommend!
I went there to try to go fishing there is no fishing I was so sad and disappointed I drove over 1 hour to get there traffic was a pain going there and coming back
I love this reservoir walk! It may be increasingly spoiled, though, by private touring companies who now have been routinely bringing tourists there, but it should be easy to focus instead on the tranquil beauty. It is spectacular! And don't miss the view of the Hollywood Sign (best seen from the dam), which is sure to be a perfect souvenir photo opp!)
No pets allowed - this is not posted online but you'll quickly find out after driving across town for a hike. Closes early without public notice.
