Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Mission Valley/Zoo

On 8/23 I had a great stay here and an even more lovely experience with the woman at the front desk named Yesenia. I had left my keys in the car and she was super friendly and replaced mine for me (I returned them all when I left of course). Had such a fun little conversation with her. 10/10 customer service. Update: I stayed here for work again so I wanted to come back and update this to also shout out Summer. She was another hostess there and I remembered her from my precious stay as well. She is so sweet and just has the kindest personality. Love the staff at this hotel <3

I had to pay $ 75 to check-in one hour early even though my reservation said 3 PM but the desk said 4 PM.

This place was great! Happy they could accommodate my family. Very spacious, very clean. The only issue we had was the sliding door for our bathroom. It was too hard to open and close. Other than that, we enjoyed their breakfast in the morning. It was also calm. I liked how quite it was. And there were other kids too and you couldn't hear much walking down the halls. Parking was great. Access to the hotel was easy as well. The location was perfect too. Everything was close by. We will definitely come back to this location in the future.

I do not like it. I stayed on the 1st floor and I can hear my neighbors snoring. In the mornings their is breakfast and it’s usually the same but they change the meat of the sausage. I had a problem in the room and I waited for more than 30 mins for them to get here, once they arrived they unlocked the door by himself I think by using a universal key. I do not like this place and I also do not recommend it.

Overall, it was a good experience. My only complaint is that the bathtub drain would not stay open while taking a shower.

The staff is amazing and very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is great.
I just wish there was things within walking distance.

Hotel is wonderful! Front desk always welcomed us back to the hotel. The underground parking lot was super secure and the elevator access really helped us load the car after our visit. Rooms are huge! And very clean! Only issue I would say is the location. It's up a hill and a bit difficult to walk down when locally walking, but that's not a fault of the hotel. We loved our stay!

Room:
- counters were sticky upon arrival
- handles - fridge, doors, were dirty
- stovetop was dirty
-floor had food on it (potato bits)
-kitchen sink is dirty and not properly installed
-living room to bedroom sliding door doesn’t close properly- it was hung incorrectly (see pic)
-bathroom door also installed incorrectly, it doesn’t shut right and the trim is detaching from wall (see pic)
-bath tile is cracked (pic)
-shower door seal is breaking off so it doesn’t shut correctly (pic)
- smell is off in the room, likely because the only ventilation is through the microwave vent. There are no windows or doors that open to outside air.
-bathroom has no working vent

Service:
Staff and management should provide better maintenance, cleaning, and overall management of the hotel.

There was a ceiling tile outside our room that was removed either prior to our stay or during our stay with no idea or mention why by the staff.
On our 4th night there, a drop of water hit the floor as I’m entering or exiting the room. I notice there’s a puddle in the carpet and realize there’s an active leak. If you’re aware of a leak, that should be a plumbing emergency, not something you wait to fix. When I told the front desk, they had someone come quickly. They put a garbage can under the leak and I’m waiting to see if they actually repair it.

There are 2 washing machines for the entire hotel, which seems like poor planning.

Location:
- It’s Right off the freeway in what looks like a pretty rough area.
- Outside was a smoking area and the first experience you get with the hotel is cigarette smoke while trying to unload your luggage (and kids and pets) from the car. Smoking stations should not be at the entrance.
-the dog area is pretty disgusting- not everyone utilizes the pet waste bags, so there’s a lot of poop. People also leave their cigarette butts in the pet area. There shouldn’t be smoking in that area either, and people need to clean up after themselves and their dogs.

First night at the homewood suite was okay, by the next day we were out all day and didn't come back till late at night and when we turned on the lights we saw two cockroaches running around and more under sink, we called the receptionist and they said they would come in tomorrow morning but didn't arrive until the afternoon, we left after they came to check out the room but didn't let us change due to no rooms being available. We are very concerned that there are more infestations and I hope they are concerned too.

Excellent location, excellent facilities, good breakfast and very good service from the staff. I recommend it to go with family

Worse hotel ever charge more than what its worth.charge for parking spot and you cant find any spot to park at times.hilton Head quarters should review this franchise location.should be zero stars

Parking fee is $24 per night but parking space is so narrow that you will have to wiggle your way out after parking the car. I was worried about door dings for my car.

Excellent hotel for families. We had a party of 6, and we’re very comfortable. The food was excellent and the service was also really good. The food was better than expected, I was impressed. During the week they have a social hour in the evening. Free food and adult beverages. Does not get any better than that. Hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely professional. I would definitely recommend you to visit this hotel. 5 star ️ all the way. Thanks to the staff.
I had one issue with the room and it was resolved within minutes.

You know Because of my previous job, I was a road warriors for years living in hotels in a multitude of cities. I stay in a lot of high end hotels over the years. I only stayed in Hotels that had a free breakfast. Most of the free breakfasts I had at these many hotels, made me feel good with good food. These hotels really understood that importance of that 1st morning breakfast. Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Mission Valley/Zoo breakfast in one of the worse ones I've every experience. The dry Powered eggs, super dry Chicken Sausage sucks big time to a point where I went to a local supermarket a purchase a box of Jimmy Dean Sausage Egg & Cheese Croissant Frozen Breakfast Sandwiches. That's how terrible their breakfast is, even Jimmy Dean taste better.

The first room offered had a terrible odor and the entire window was broken but being held together with duct tape.

It was my first time staying here, but probably not my last time. I like the underground parking. My room was a little noisy because of the A/C system for the hallway. It reverberated in my room. Other than that, it was nice.

When we checked in the first thing that the receptionist told us that our room smells bad because someone spilled something on the carpet. So she gave us another room which is two queen beds. I booked a king room by the way. Anyways, when we got inside our new room it smells like urine. Having all the baby stuff with us, it was so inconvenient to carry all of our luggage to the front desk to get a new room. We ended up having two queen beds again inside of a king. Also, you can hear the person snoring on the other side of the bedroom. Lastly, you can hear loud footsteps above. I don’t recommend this hotel at all. Please save yourself a trip and book somewhere else.
