Hook Fish Co. at Proof Lab Beer Garden reviews
15Really tasty food (grilled fish plate)! It was ready a few minutes after I ordered. A bit overpriced and the bathroom was dirty/smelled like fish. Parking lot was also tricky. I was here for lunch on a weekday.
Only 4 stars to leave room for improvement. Not sure what that is but therein lies the magic. Thank you.
Tacos are fresh and FANTASTIC. 2 tacos only seemed steep but the quality was top and they were very filling and scrumptious. Incredible slaw. Ceviche was standout, great sweet to acidic ratio. Their homemade habanero carrot hot sauce is incredible - had to buy a bottle. Drinks like spicy candy Manuel behind the bar is a frickin gem. Really great way to end a really great hiking day!
Absolutely loved it! Everything was so fresh and light while still hitting the spot for wanting something warm and savory. Great beer options that go well with the catch of the day which is always a good choice.
This place delivers consistently awesome food.
I am addicted to the rockfish tacos.
Today I ordered them without tortillas! Which was excruciating because their tortillas are amazing… But I was trying to make it a keto meal.
I got extra coleslaw and extra sauce… It was even better than the original!
I love this restaurant and I tolerate that it is always always crowded because… Why wouldn’t it be!? !
With its cute backyard seating… It is a destination. And it’s consistent, high-quality food and many fresh fish choices make it a “must visit“ when you are in Marin.
I hear there is one in the city, but I am not familiar with it.
Like some other nearby restaurants, the indoor beer and wine bar is run separately from the outdoor kitchen. There's a good selection of local craft beers. The food menu is basically a rotating catch of the day prepared in different ways (a grilled plate, tacos, burritos, fish 'n chips, etc.). The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious. The crab cakes are tasty but laughably tiny. The fries and fish' n chips are pretty good. This is probably a better place to eat when it's warmer, as only a few of the many outdoor tables have a heater, and the inside tables can be very drafty.
Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had anywhere in the world. Good beer and wine on tap. Oysters were great as well. Everyone at our table loved their meal. Price is very good for the quality and location.
I’ve tried the Hook Fish location in SF before and loved it, but this location took it to another level. Hook Fish is a sustainable and fairly local seafood restaurant that specializes in entrees like fish and chips and fish tacos/burritos.
On this trip we went with the grilled fish of the day burrito and of course some fish and chips. Everything was delicious and amazing! The battered fish is the best I’ve ever had. The burrito tastes flavorful yet healthy at the same time. You also can’t resist pouring some of their unique hot sauce on each bite to add even more flavor. They had a pineapple juice drink that I tried which was also a nice touch without too much sugar.
Parking is a bit crazy as this location is super central to anyone driving around Muir Woods but once you find parking the inside is beautiful. There are so many outdoor tables and even a pristine modern looking bar inside.
So glad I finally got to visit their other location in the Bay Area. You have to go!
Just five minutes from our vacation rental, we're glad we tried it right away because it's so good we ended up eating here four times! We tried the fish & chips which are so good my wife ate them every visit. I tried them as well as the fish tacos and the fish sandwich with the catch of the day. All three were so good I really can't choose a favorite.
The beer selection is outstanding, and yeah.you do have to stand in line to make your food and drink order, but their system does work well.
Only complaint is they didn't do well at keeping iced water available for those wanting it, and sent my wife next door to get an iced tea.which ended up being good, so no prob.
Vibe was super chill great beer and wine selection at a reasonable price, best fish tacos I've had in the area. Good variety of fish and styles. Space was welcoming. Parking is limited, has a bike rack and will give you a lock if you ask. A+ for a bike commuter and it's right off a major bike path.
Their fish and chips were a true standout, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish tacos were equally delicious, with a tantalizing combination of flavors that left me craving more.
What’s more, this place had a great selection of local brewery beers to complement the seafood dishes.
The ambiance of the outdoor seating area/ beer garden was simply delightful. Dog friendly.
Great place for fresh casual food and wonderful libations. Never did find the entrance to the parking lot though!
Great service, great food. Burrito, fish sando, and fish & chips were so good. We’ll be back!
Very nice restaurant. Loved the outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and the beer was nice and fresh.
Great atmosphere at the foot of Mill Valley where it touches the bay. Really good tacos and plates with fresh fish and oysters.
Price is high for the reasons that you pay to appreciate. It can get crowded at times yet always seems to have a table.
