Japanese Restaurant Hoshinoya reviews
12 Food was fine, nothing special honestly. Service was bad. Never called our name but crossed us off the wait list, seated us once we asked but they tried to tell us they called us an we no-showed (we were sitting 10ft away listening the whole time ~10mins). Asked us to move tables after seating us and taking our appetizer order, annoying but whatever. Seemed annoyed we didn't order entrees when we ordered apps. Never refilled our waters during the dinner. Never brought the beer I ordered, had to ask to have it taken off the bill. They also apparently add a 3% credit card surcharge, ridiculous in this day and age. Bake the cost of credit card processing into your menu prices.
We won't be back, there's better food in Japantown walking distance in literally any direction.
Great ramen and japanese food options. I opted for the miso ramen with pork. Every part of the ramen was delicious down to the eggs. The pork was cooked perfectly and its taste meshed well with the rich brother and crunchy vegetables. The sides we ordered - edamame and tofu - were also tasty though the tofu had fish sauce so it was not vegetarian. I would definitely revisit this place with friends and visiting family members to treat them to a delicious and fun ramen experience.
Good ramen and Beef short rib. The teriyaki beef is a little over done and chew.over very good Japanese food in Japantown.
Tried the Katsu Pork Curry, flavorful curry, plentiful portions, and juicy pork, food took average time, very worth the price given.
Was my go to ramen place. The short ribs ramen used to be $24.95 now it's a staggering $35! You have to be famished to sample this one of a kind bowl of soup
This my first time go here in San Francisco I like there chicken better than fast place around San Francisco area better so I kind like here better also this first time go to Japan town at San Francisco area I from Sunnyvale
Food was hella good, ate there with my mom.her meal is the first picture, mine is the second
Amazing dining experience. The Gyukotsu Ramen + Short Rib is delicious. The kitchen was filled with a savory aroma while it was prepared. Tender meat and thick noodles made it worthwhile. Their Gyoza is also a great choice for an appetizer. The setting and service were very pleasant.
The food is delicious. For the price, there aren't enough noodles for me. The flavor was rich and savory. The ramen, compared to Ichiran in Japan, is a step down though. The bento set tonkatsu is very thin so beware if you were expecting a thicker cut.
We’re welcome at 20: 45, even though they close at 21 - something completely unimaginable in EU. Black Garlic Ramen portion is huge and the noodles, pork and mushroom blend in a crispy-creamy flavor boom. 40 dollars without tip for 1 Ramen, beer and a soft drink. Matcha IPA can be skipped. Water provided. Service is swift.
Would highly recommend this spot in Japan town! Very delicious bento boxes with variety, veggies, and miso soup. The chicken and pork here are delicious! My favorite is the spicy teriyaki chicken plate. I really enjoyed the yuzu chicken as well especially since it comes with broccoli. One of my favorite places to visit, love the flavors and friendly staff! Also dog friendly with outdoor seating which was a plus.
This is a solid place for Japanese food in the Japantown. By the time we get the table, the restaurant is not too busy. I got the katsu curry with rice. The katsu is cooked perfectly, crispy and not greasy. The curry is also good. Nothing fancy but it is satisfying. Next time I want to try the fried rice. I saw a big plate of fried rice puffed with hot air and it looks very good.
