Beautiful hotel, well thought out spaces with a marvel of special places to sit to soak up the ambiance. The design and planning behind the space is really brilliant. I stayed here with a friend for 9 nights and would gladly stay here again. The gym is also superb, I'm told one of the best in the area. And it wasnt too busy when we visited either

I stayed at this hotel last week with my boyfriend as he was moving just north of SF and we wanted something central, relaxing, and quiet to be able to conveniently explore all week. We utilized their parking lot and his car was full to the brim with his entire life and the hotel staff very kindly helped us unload his whole car and let us move it all into storage for the week to keep the car safe, which provided a lot of peace of mind during a generally stressful time of moving. We loved the gym, the coffee, the relaxing ambience of the lobby and the exceptionally helpful employees. We didn't have any of the issues with cleanliness or rudeness mentioned by other reviews and I would fully recommend. It is not the resort/spa/vacation in itself type hotel, but for people coming to actually visit San Francisco, it is a great option.

Nice lobby and free coffee all day. Anyway staff can be more friendlier, maybe busy during holidays in pandemic time
My room has issue with toilet flush and staff came and fixed very quick

Save your $$ and stay somewhere else. My family and I had a terrible experience at Kabuki as the reservation side is completely disconnected from the (rude) people running the hotel. No services, no restaurants and an exorbitant late check-out fee on top of ~$300 a night per room. The location gets it a single star which is the only thing going for this glorified hostel masquerading as a 4 star hotel.

Such a lovely experience in nearly every way. The room size was perfect, even with a (comfortable) roll-away bed provided for our adult daughter who stayed with us. The room had great views of the city and a comfortable bed. Furthermore, in these pandemic times, it felt positively indulgent to have daily room service. My only complaint about the room is that the bathroom lighting was not great, and also not having a door or some way to shield the bathroom from the rest of the space was not ideal.
We also enjoyed the lobby bar and the many welcoming seating spaces throughout the lobby. I would highly recommend Hotel Kabuki!

We had reserved a bedroom with 2 full beds, but when we got there they said they gave the room to someone else and were going to instead give us 2 rooms, each with a king size bed.

Well, we have 2 children so 2 separate rooms wasn't going to work. So, we ended up getting a king size bed, 3 of us slept there and one person slept in a pull out mattress.

The gentleman helping us was extremely helpful and friendly (I think his name was Domingo). He waved some fees, and gave us free breakfast. So he's worth 5 stars.

The breakfast was similar to what you'd get a Best Western or something more modest, except it wasn't buffet, and if you had to pay for it, it would be very expensive.

The room lacked a door in the bathroom. There was only a door separating the toilet from the bathroom. So, when it comes to showering, it doesn't work well if you're with family.

Also, the shower didn't drain correctly so there was always a good sized puddle of water that simply would *Never* drain, not because the drain wasn't working but because the floor itself wasn't sloping correctly. So when you would leave the shower you'd had that huge puddle on your feet and the next person getting in the shower would step into that puddle of filth that the last person had left.

I think given the standing as a "4-star" hotel, with expensive nightly rates ($300), you'd expect the room to have basic amenities, like a door in the bathroom and draining shower.

The location was very good for our purpose so that kind of saved it from losing another star.

Wonderful place to stay in the of San Francisco's Japantown. Surrounded by amazing restaurants, shops, markets and community, Kabuki is also a zen oasis of serenity, with a playfully artistic vibe.

I really enjoy this hotel when I come to SF. It’s an easy Uber (or often even a walk) from anywhere I want to go in town, and it’s right in the heart of Jtown, which makes for a unique experience. The hotel itself has very interesting art, music and books. It includes a zen garden, a small parking area, thoughtful lighting and an excellent bar, too. Great views from the corner rooms.

I highly suggest checking this place out.

My wife and I stayed at the Kabuki 10 yrs ago. It was a tough time for me with my brother in failing health at UCSF medical center, but coming back to the hotel at night was peaceful. My wife and I think about that hotel a lot. Glad to hear the Kabuki is still providing great service.

Really loved this hotel. It’s amazing to get a large king room in the city. Additionally, the amenities like the gym and lobby and great.

My only negative experience was with the front desk employee, his name began with N (Nicoli). I was greeted with attitude during check-in after watching him treat the Caucasian male in front of me VERY nicely. I had to get my Caucasian HUSBAND for assistance and he was met with a very helpful attitude. The employee’s concerns were valid however the attitude towards only me was absolutely not. Every other staff member was amazing!

I had high expectations for the hotel after reading all the great reviews online. That was why we chose this hotel to stay before the day we took our engagement photos.

Unfortunately the hotel failed in the most important area that we cared about - being able to sleep well in the room. There were very loud construction noises all night long and we couldn't fall asleep at all. This added a lot of stress for us on an important day.

I didn't give one star because the staff were nice and the room was clean. But please be warned if you plan to stay in this hotel for important occasions.

Location is perfection. Rooms are nice and bonus for the balconies. Staff is friendly and overall has a wonderful feel. We stayed in the corner king room.

Great Location. Close to Japantown and Kabuki Spring Spa.
Staff and Service very good and polite.
Japanese themed rooms, beautiful hotel with nice aesthetics.
Directly connected to East Mall (which I didn't know till later).
Food in hotel limited but during regular hours lots of food in Japantown and also a Michelin restaurant nearby.
Transparent shower door which was fine since I didn't book with a friend but otherwise would have been odd.
AC doesn't really work. Only major drawback of the hotel. Even though it was cold outside it was too warm inside despite setting temperature as low as 64F. Just wouldn't cool.
Gym was amazing. They even had smith machines, cable machines, boxing equipment, yoga studio. Just needed water and towels.
Elevators are confusing. Some don't lead to gym so got lost.
I came here for staycation specifically for this hotel and I think it was almost perfect except for the ac too warm for me to sleep.

Beautiful hotel. Quiet area at night which is rare for San Francisco but only blocks away from fun bars and restaurants. Such an amazing value. Rooms are quite large for a hotel of this size. Pet friendly too. Bar downstairs is awesome. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the city. Already booked again for another stay!

Despite the hotel being very clean and new feeling. The walls are very thin and I could hear the other room's conversations clearly. Also if your neighbors are out on their balcony you'll think they are in your room. I could not sleep. I'm sorry for the bad review but the sleeping experience was of a motel rather than a 4 star hotel at $300 a night. Also our room had no working AC.

Awesome hotel with awesome service! I landed here after a really tough move and I was treated so warmly. Everyone was kind and helpful. The person who checked me in was awesome and he made my stay really great? Shout-out to Nikolai

I'd give more stars if I could

Hotel Kabuki is one of my favorite hotels of all time. The rooms are spacious and filled with fun details throughout. I love how centrally located it is and the vibrant community that surrounds it. The lobby is cozy and welcoming and stunning!

Shower backed up last night and dirty water ran over entire bathroom floor while my wife was showering. She has a physical disability and we couldn’t move to another room. The AC did not work. My sister saw a mouse in the lobby as she waited to check into her room, and again saw a mouse last night scamper across the lobby. The bar and lounge are across from the elevators and was packed one night as we had to maneuver through people without a mask. The gym is great but it did not convince me to give a second star. Eager to check out this morning!

Comfortable hotel that has a good vibe and friendly staff. Pet friendly. Complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby 24/7. Not much of a bar scene from what I could tell. The bed was soft.

Very impressed with the hotel and it's location. Serene, peaceful and pleasant staff. Clean room, and was lucky enough to get a higher floor so really didn't have any street noise. Indeed, the only constraint of this hotel is that if you are located near an elevator, the doors aren't thick enough to completely block out all sound. So you will here coming and goings. But we did not hear anything from anyone in any other room. So a lot of the noise complaints are semi-valid.if there is a party in the hallway, you'll hear it, otherwise, you won't.

Can't say enough about how impressed my wife was with the staff. Operations manager Joyce was super responsive to a question we had on our stay, and runs a tight ship. Everything is super clean. Well done.
