House of Bagels Colma

I've heard mention that the elusive "good bagel" can be procured in San Francisco but I am almost always disappointed. When the House of Bagels on Geary stopped being fantastic I was forced to embark on a quest for a reliable source of "good bagels". I sampled bagels at numerous locations around the city. Nothing stood out as remarkable. A few years passed and I still hadn't found a "good bagel place" that I could count on. In December of 2022, I needed three-dozen bagels for a party on the 25th. I had left off buying bagels until the last minute. Everything is closed on the 25th and my only hope was a "Chinese bagel place" with the same name as my old, favorite, shop on Geary. It was late in the day and when I arrived, the proprietor was locking up. Maybe he saw the desperation on my face and took pity on me, or maybe he is just a nice guy, but, to my utter astonishment and relief, he unlocked the door and let me in. I think I bought all the day-olds available. I recall noticing a nice mix of flavors already bagged for sale. I checked the refrigerator hoping they might have a couple of schmears to save me the trouble of making them myself and, wow! What a surprise! So many wonderful flavor combinations. The classics and some more creative flavors in different sizes! I grabbed a bunch of the savory shmears and headed for the register. I was so over-joyed at my success and good fortune - and the proprietor was so nice, I almost didn't want to ask - so, I asked, "you don't by any chance have whitefish, do you? "
OMG! I almost plotzed when he answered, "what size? ". I dropped at least a hundy on my new favorite bagel place that day. That was before I had taken a bite. I didn't care. They were friendly, they had whitefish, they had parking. What's to complain about? The absolute best part of the story? THE BAGELS ARE GOOD! REALLY, REALLY, GOOD! This year, spent twice as much and my mouth is watering just thinking about those bagels...

Decor was nice the customer service was bad how is this even considered “house of bagels “ when the whole taste is off and overpriced

One of the best bagels I've ever had, they are delicious and have a wide variety. Recommended

This place is small on the inside but well decorated. It's very inviting when you enter. There's literally enough space to place an order and stand in line. On the other side, it's for doordash pick up, or you can stand and wait for your order. They are pretty packed when I've gone that the lines were out the door.

People who take your order are super nice and helpful in recommending the perfect bagel to go with the breakfast omelets they have.

We've ordered:

1. Chorizo omelette - This is very flavorful with an asiago bagel. I feel the fresh avocado overpowered it. Next time, I might get it with no avocado.

2. Spam omelette - This was an unexpected treat. Spam and teriyaki are one thing, but with the Sriracha aioli and the furikake. Man, just thinking of it is making my mouth water. He recommended the garlic bagel, and this sandwich was a flavor explosion in my mouth.

3. Sausage omelette with asiago bagel - Sadly, with this one, we were disappointed. All you can taste is the egg. With a few bites, you can taste the spice from the sausage, but you mostly taste egg.

4. Bacon omelette with garlic bagel - This sounds simple, but oh, so good. Perfect balance of egg and crunchy bacon.

5. Pecan bar - sweet, gooey, and crunchy crust.

I highly recommend this place and can't wait to try more stuff. I saw they had macaroni salad, potato salad, and other stuff, but I had already placed my order. I'd want to try their ube cream cheese that everyone talks about.

Ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. Came to $10+ including tax. Really disappointed and should not be charging that amount for a breakfast sandwich that’s made with Kraft cheese singles.

Good choice of sandwiches and a large selection of different types of bagels to choose from for your 'bread type'.

I’m never ever coming back here. City priced bagels, rude and miserable staff. I asked for my bagels to be redone because it was cold. The short dude in the kitchen started walking around and mugging me like I was about to get to get into a street fight with him. The ladies inside make 0 eye contact. The cashier got no $0 tip from me because of his tone and slight attitude and lack of motivation. This should be a clear message to the owner so he can get his act in order. I cannot believe this place has a 4.3 rating. The design of the place is nice but no real surface to hand the order to customers. They just squeeze your order between two counters and a big jar. Here you go sir. If you what to charge $6 for an orange juice and $6 for a bagel, you better provide the service that goes along with it to make people regardless of being overcharged

I mean.how do you screw up a bagel? Ask these guys and they will tell you.

Yuck. Forget this chain.

First time today. Ordered an onion & everything bagel. They were a bit on the thinner side but that's what makes them good - not doughy or spongy where you feel bloated from eating too much bread. The flavors were well balanced, they toasted up nicely, and were really good. Def will go back.

Miserable staff with 0 motivation. Don't expect them to open on time or have all the bagels ready as well. Decent bagels. 2 bagels with cream cheese is 10.50 though lmao.

I had the #5 turkey egg, Swiss, tomato, on my choice pumpernickel bagels toasted it was so much i could only eat 1/2 and later ate the other.both hot and cold the sandwich was wonderful.
It was a busy day and 2 appointments one very early and one at noon. So it worked out well. I've always been happy when buying a dozen for home or just a break when out and about. I think I've tried most all flavors. Great place happy staff and patience is shown when someone has a hard time choosing, which happens often when your busy.

Very delicious California lox and bagel! The added sprouts and veggies are cold and fresh. They do not skimp on the lox and cream cheese! And good vibes from the employees

Bagels are delicious and they always have the cinnamon raisin which is the one I can never find at Safeway or Luckys. They also have day old bags of bagels for like $7 still super fresh and a wide variety of cream cheese, tuna and chicken salad.

Nice bagel shop. They offer a lot of "flavored" bagels and they have different kinds of lox.
The pulled pork bagel was just ok.
The staff are nice but i once got a cashier who was a bit uptight.

I know that rating bagels gets controversial so I will say that yes, the House of Bagels in SF is just a little bit better but overall BEST PLACE FOR BAGELS in this part of the area - for sure! And extremely nice staff! Everything is clean, fresh, inviting, tables to eat outside or get your bagel/s to go. In the Target shopping center so make it part of your Target run. Most definitely recommend!

So cute! This place is a hidden gem. The garlic and herb schmear is creamy and delicious. I had the everything bagle and it was also yummy!
