Probably the best experience to enjoy a good Prime Rib in San Francisco. Between the cocktails, the house salad, the side dishes and the different cuts of meat, everything is almost perfect. However, be wary of pure horseradish, it surprises. The cheesecake is also anthology.

A famous restaurant with a long history! This is a place that out-of-town guests always go to, so it's best to reserve a table in advance, and if you don't mind sitting at the bar, you can sit there after waiting on the day.
Although it is always crowded and noisy, you can often see customers who come to enjoy the old-fashioned atmosphere.

This smoked style steak is characterized by being juicy and tender.
If you order the cut you want, it comes in the following order: bread > salad > sides and steak. Sides include potatoes (choose 1 of mashed potatoes/baked potatoes), Yorkshire pudding, and creamed spinach. Although it is not listed on the menu, you can change the spinach to creamed corn.

The size of the steak is so large that even an adult man can eat it all if he eats diligently. You can refill the steak and sides as many times as you want, so give it a try if you're a big eater! However, please note that leftover food cannot be taken away from the second steak.

If you order a la carte, bread and salad are not included, and there is no side/steak refill service. If you feel uncomfortable eating large amounts of food, this is okay.

I heard that there is a charge for sharing one menu item between two people. Please inquire directly for details.

Dirty plates, glasses with lip sticks marks. How did they pass the city inspection? Ribs are tasteless, I can make better ribs with my eyes closed. Famous lettuce salad was so soggy. Is the lettus almost rotten?

What an irrelevant restaurant name for this quality of food. Not my favorite and I will never go back.

This is an old school institution that does the big things really well. If you are a beef coinesseur, you should know that this roast beef is very simple: cooked properly with some jus on top and a selection of horse raddish. Salad was simple and a bit wilted. I would say that you go to this place less for the food, and more for the experience.

Photos don’t do it justice, going into this place is like riding in a perfectly maintained classic car. Service is top notch, food and drinks are simple, and they make a LOT basic classic martinis (shaken on ice at your table and they leave the shaker there for you). The ROOMS are really lively and beautifully old school.

I would also say this place is less expensive than other more food focused steak houses.

Even though I am steak lover, I chose this place for the experience and not because I wanted the best steak in town, and I was not disappointed.

Absolutely loved it.

I don't leave reviews often. But I had the best waiter I've ever had. His name was 'Dennis' and he was European- (I think) but he was a very kind and jovial man and gave us new drinks every 10 minutes. Very chipper guy. If anybody from upper management sees this, give THAT GUY a raise. 10/10 for waitstaff. Would go again. Also the foog was a smash hit. Peace.

I booked a reservation here 7 months in advance, so I had HIGH EXPECTATIONS since these reservations were so competitive. I must say - the hype is real! I had such a wonderful experience. Our server was so kind! I love that they introduce the carver to you. Overall, I would definitely come back and now I can't wait to share this place with loved ones in the future.

The City Cut was perfect for me. Not too much meat and I still had room for COMPLIMENTARY seconds! I wish they gave more beef au ju to moisten the meat. Once all the juice was soaked up, the beef was less moist.

My recommendations:

+ Try the "medium" horseradish cream on your prime rib! It really elevates the flavor of the beef. The "spicy" is TRULY potent. So be cautious! It has that wasabi burn that goes up your nose.

+ Get the creamed spinach! This was better than expected. Very flavorful - salty on its own. The creamed corn is just as good though:) The potato options were both okay. Typical and nothing special.

+ Be careful of those carbs! With bread service, potatoes, and yorkshire pudding.it's easy to get full before the main course. HOWEVER - I will say that the salad is 100% worth finishing. The dressing, eggs, and beets.it was all so fresh and worth the stomach space.

After a long awaited time, I finally got into the HOPR for dinner. I'm a huge prime rib lover and have heard so many great things about this place from friends.

I brought my mom to a dinner to celebrate her birthday and we were seated in a very bright room near a back door (not the most ideal seating) but it will do. Unfortunately the service was terrible, probably would have been better at a Denny's.

Our waiter greeted us with the most blank, unfriendly face. We wanted to exact same order, but she insisted on taking each other individually and got snappy. The salad took a while to come out despite her saying it will be out right away. She was honestly condescending in several remarks she made during our meal when we asked about anything. Her service quite honestly took away from the meal, and dining experience which was beyond disappointing.

My review on the food: The salad was fantastic, mash potatoes were amazing, the prime rib was stellar.

Overall, it left a bitter taste. I had such high expectations for this place and truly believe a good dining experience is not only good food, but good service and that we did not receive.

This is exactly what you think and exactly what you want in the best way. Beef was exceptional and surprisingly affordable. Sides were classic and tasty. Shaken cocktails were very generous, especially for the price, and tasty. Service was attentive and affable but slightly less then precise. Could be that we were that last seeing. I had planed to take home left overs but devoured everything. I'll definitely be back.

The best prime rib ever. The creamed spinach and mashed potato are delicious. The server at the bar was cordial and polite.

Went there for New Year's Eve for the third year in a row and had a very unfulfilling experience. Our table was very very rushed. They took away our bread plates right after the salad was done. Where are we supposed to put our bread? A couple of the cuts of meat were very grisly and had to send them back. Our server never came to check on us - we had to let the staff know about our steaks. Our salad was just a big mess on our plates it looked very unappealing. The whole experience was a big letdown I will not go next year.

Awesome Prime Rib!

We were served by Edgar, who was funny and efficient.

Hector, The Meat Slicer, in his room, was the best chef there that day. We were fortunate to be in his room.

Food was great and ambience was good!

We come back after many years… we found the same wonderful place! The atmosphere is great, it didn’t change years after years.
We took the same traditional slice of meat and we enjoy a lot. Super far from the way we usually eat meet in Italy, it seems “stufata”, bi in fact is super tender and juicy. The selection of wine is great and also the kindness of all the staff.

Went the Friday before Christmas and had an amazing experience as always. The stand out of the night was the service provided by Dennis. I have been going here for over 10 years and had never heard of the secret menu, when I asked about it Dennis didn't hesitate to tell me a few of the items and options that were on it. The beet horseradish will forever be a staple for me on my prime rib. We will be back for the 2x King henry for sure. 10/10
