Howard Johnson by Wyndham Anaheim Hotel & Water Playground

We stayed at the Howard Johnson for a week while we visited Disneyland and it was the best decision ever. I'll start from check in, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They were more than happy to take our luggage as we arrived early in the morning so we could go an explore Downtown Disney and the local area. We got a text when our room was ready and it was incredible!
We had two large, exceptionally comfy beds, great air-con which was perfect in the California heat, a balcony overlooking the garden swimming pool and a luxurious bathroom with double sinks.
The location of this hotel could not have been better. They advertise it is an eight minute walk to the parks and they are so right, which made it perfect to pop back for a midday rest and freshen up.
The water playground parts of the hotel look so much fun. The pool area was always clean and tidy and it made for the perfect place to relax.
There is a partner cafe across the road where you can get breakfast and drinks and there are so many food places a short walk away.
It may have been our first stay at the Howard Johnson but it certainly won't be the last. The staff, the room, the location - it was all absolutely PERFECT.

I absolutely loved this place. So close to the Disneyland resort (about 6-8 min walk depending on how fast you walk lol) rooms are spacious and clean (building 1 is renovated beautifully) the front desk staff are very thorough and welcoming. Worth every penny - thank you for the hospitality!

I have been staying here my whole life when traveling to Disneyland, and so did my mom way back when! It’s proximity to the park is great, and it has a nice pool and splash pad for the kids, as well as good interior decorating. It is very nostalgic here for us, and we will keep coming back!

Was a great stay for a business trip at vidcon and excited to bring my family back here for a Disney trip. Super friendly staff and great accommodations from the pool to the water playground area and hot tub

Have stayed here plenty over the last 35 + years! Always good. Affordable, great location 5 minutes walk from main gate, clean and tidy. A bit dated but that's part of the charm. Will stay here again next time as well!

The buildings towards the back have no elevators very dirty smell bad, the housekeepers take stuff, put dirty sheets on the bed bugs in the bathroom. Just need to update all the rooms and make sure elevators are in there for people with kids and babies and elderly‘s there’s no need to stay at this hotel when you can stay at the courtyard or any other hotel, the Disney hotel then this place this is a very bad service and they do not care. And think that you’re lying that the housekeepers are taking your stuff which shows that they was taking things from the rooms because they do not clean the rooms every day they only clean it one day very unprofessional, and need to change it.

Bring your own toiletries shampoo and conditioner because what they provide is very minimal at best and not very good quality. If you need to take a bath good luck trying to figure out how to get the stopper to work and good luck getting somebody to answer you at the concierge desk if you booked a special saver non refundable room. The shower head has little pressure. The only good thing that I can say about the room is that there is a refrigerator microwave and a decent bed. Oh and don't forget they charge you $25 a day for a parking that they don't disclose on their website.

Great hotel and service and for a family, quick and easy access to Disneyland. The pool and water park was a welcoming relief after a long trip. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The little store near the front desk had it all as well. Great experience and we will be back!

Absolutely perfect hotel for your Disneyland stay! The rooms are spacious, clean and exactly what you need. Quick walk to the parks make for easy mornings and evenings. Love that Castaway Cove pool and Garden pool because there is something for everyone! The gift shop hours are so great too, with little ones who wake up early it is so nice to be able to visit there!

Best hotel near disney! Stayed here for 2 nights before switching to the Marriott as we booked the trip last minutes. I wished we stayed the whole time at this hotel. The new rooms and amazing and Disney is a block away. We will be returning!

Enjoyed the hotel very much. Close to Disneyland. Staff was friendly. 5/5 all around. Only thing I wish I could have done was turn off the automatic light that turns on in the bathroom. When you go in there half asleep it is blinding.

This is our go to hotel. It is always clean and the staff is amazing. Our last trip, Nicole helped us with reservations and she was the best. She was friendly and professional and just super nice. Ryan checked us in and he was extremely pleasant and helpful. He set the tone for a great vacation trip. The hotel has a water park and pool, which is a nice break from Disneyland, and it’s less than a 10 min walk to the resort (with stroller). I highly recommend staying here on your next Anaheim

Recently stayed here for our trip to Disneyland and was less than pleased with some of the staff. We were planning on our checkout day to spend some time with the kids at their water park. The water park didn’t open till 10 and were told we had to be out of the water by 12. When trying to find a solution to try and make our plans work the staff member we checked in with gave us no options and was sassy about the whole thing. This was a big let down since this was the first time we went to Disney and didn’t stay at a Disney hotel. Considering they are a block away from the park I would think they would want to compete as much as possible to make peoples experience a good one but in my experience there the staff didn’t try to do anything to try and help us out. In my opinion the money you save staying off Disney property is not worth the magic you lose especially when going with kids and the magic is the most important part. That trip will be the only time our family will stay at Howard Johnson Anaheim.

The pool was closed for sanitation half an hour after checking in, cleaned hours after! Reopened at 9: 15pm and closed at 10pm.
The internet was so poor we couldn't see TV in the room! We also paid for a pool view room, and got a room that was so far out of the actual pool, that we got to see the parking lot, and you could see the pool if you but your face on the window. Overall, it was one thing after another, just a bad experience for my family.

Yassss we love it. I loved the pirate themed water play area it’s awesome and the room are really clean it’s almost luxurious I saw they wanted to get 5 stars and I saw it only has 3 I think and I’m like why would it be only 3 but I hope y’all get to 100000 billion stars

The freeway was right next to the building we were in. I didn’t sleep well the first night. The second and third nights I had free ear plugs from the front desk which helped. The floor in the shower/tub made a weird noise when stepping in certain spots. It seemed to be installed incorrectly.

Location was perfect for downtown Disney and the parks. It was easy to walk to restaurants. We stayed in an updated building, and it was great. The rooms are clean and comfy and decorated with Mickey. We saw the fireworks every night from our balcony. Laundry on site was convenient. Kids loved the pool and water play cove. We had an issue with the safe battery dying and staff (Logan) was quick to resolve the issue. Thank you again! The staff is very friendly. The store on property is very convenient. Hand sanitizer stations everywhere was nice. We were able to checkin early and checkout was easy. Parking was easy. Two fast elevators in our building. I would suggest new shower heads with better pressure. We will definitely be back! Thanks!
