Hyperion Public reviews
11The girl at the bar was “disconnected. ” I say that instead of rude bc you never know what anyone is going through. I also don’t like to say negative things about black women but we came in as a group and there was just no sign of life in this human. You’d think as a bartender you’d crack a smile or be minimally warm to a group celebrating a bday. Cold but this place has a cool dive bar vibe def suggest popping in
I want to give my neighborhood bar a little love. I've been frequenting Hyperion Public for almost a decade now since it's in my neighborhood and I love the vibes. The staff is super friendly and I love the recent remodel. The outdoor patio is open again! The menu has recently been overhauled to pivot to soul food (don't worry, the wings are still on the menu) which is a WONDERFUL addition to Silverlake. I love HP!
All my friends and I have been sick for days because of this place. On the best night out with my friends but got ruined by food poisoning. I think it was a lemon drop alcoholic beverage that they used to back door Trojan horse our immune system and ruin our lives. Is it dirty glass or silverlake tapwater poison hipster ice cubes? I just can’t with this this place Glen Coco.
Super friendly and professional staff, ambient is great, drinks and food on point. Such a nice place.
An okay "sports" bar.
I came here to watch some Summer League Basketball, and I had an okay time.
The Happy Hour is from 3-7PM from Monday-Friday, and the deal was only 1 dollar off beer/wine, as well as 10 dollar well cocktails. I wouldn't say the drinks were a great deal, but the food deals were a little better.
I also got the 8 dollar panko chicken tenders. The chicken was definitely over seasoned, but it wasn't bad for typical bar food
I was disappointed in the atmosphere though, there really wasn't a ton going on, the sports were on but they didn't play sound, and even in the early day when people were lounging they were blasting club music.
What was strange was the music choice, it reminded me of one of those weddings where it's the typical dance floor music and you have 6 or 7 frat guys jumping in the middle, with everyone watching around the circle.
It just was a strange vibe. I didn't go here late at night so it may be a more fun nightlife place, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for watching a Sports game or just to hang casually in the early afternoon.
Quaint, small bar with delicious food! Drinks are weak, yet I loved the atmosphere and especially love the upstairs lounge area for the birthday celebration we had!
The food is just ok; the drinks are good but happy hour prices are a little stiff ($10 for a well cocktail). Thought it was cooler before the remodel. The outdoor patio is a nice feature, but it's closed until further notice due to a dispute with the city, according to the bartender.
HP is such a gem. Great to watch a basketball or hockey game and also burlesque? Decent happy hour too. Lots of nooks and crannies to hangout in.
It’s a nice spot to chill with friends or to meet new ones. I didn’t drink it eat anything so I can’t really give a full review.
Hyperion is the lower bar/restaurant, but on Wednesdays the upper bar is known as The Speakeasy. It's a little niche of urban, underground cool that is a den to creatives of all kinds. Plus toss in burlesque, musicians, magic, and poetry acts all thrown in, and you have quite the smorgasbord of entertainment. They have wonderful absinthe drinks, which are rare to find, and their food is just the right amount of pub quality without being icky.
Best bar in town! This place has cheers vibes! This has become the only bar I frequent! Great owner and awesome staff!
