Independence Trail, Nevada City CA

Easy access, relatively flat trail with views of the Yuba. Some historical markers. Head east for boardwalk trail.

Very easy trail, gets harder if you want to head down to the river but pretty straightforward just very long. Pretty shaded in most areas but don’t forget your water nonetheless! Bathrooms at the head are pretty gross though, I prefer the ones further up the road.

Nice easy hike. Mostly flat. We made it about an hour in, on the east trail and turned around.

Awesome trail for any hike, short or long. I don’t know about long distance backpacking, though, as I’m not sure how friendly they are to camping and how many campgrounds there are. But there are so many cool things to see within an hour or so, you really should come explore this place.
